It’s creepy, especially when the children talk to the unseen Drill.

Some elements of the show are stronger than others. The ominous visual mood set by director Mark Romanek in the pilot is particularly striking and is helped along by the score, and the child actors do a good job of toeing the line between creepy and normal. The adults are less well-rounded, which, given the sometimes procedural nature of the plot, isn’t that surprising or that much of an obstacle to enjoying the show.

The series, created by Soo Hugh and premiering Monday, has all the right pieces working together to make a decent show. It becomes slightly over-plotted by the third episode, but nothing that significantly diminishes its power to hold our interest.

The Whispers has a polished feel, enough twists, and moves just well enough to steadily build on its central mystery. So for now, anyway, even if the kids aren’t all right, the show is.

None of this narrative padding is especially gripping, and some of it borders on dull, but the quality of the construction is above average.

The Whispers is ultimately a frustratingly hollow experience, an assortment of familiar genre cliches and a stubborn insistence that its primary mystery will remain enticing for us even without hints or the gratification of answers that, in theory, would only elevate the stakes.

Elements like design, atmosphere, casting--the things that produce tension beyond concept--are absent. And Rabe is a surprisingly ineffective lead, although it is mostly due to the horrendous dialogue she’s been given.

I need more genre shows because they're the only shows I watch and this one fits the bill. The Whispers is solidly acted, with Lily Rabe doing a great job leading this thing. Milo Ventimiglia is also great and quite easy on the eyes. The kids are creepy, especially Minx. That tiny brunette girl is just so adorable, and I'm not even a kid person. With so much drivel clogging our screens, The Whispers is a welcome exception. It isn't "smart" television, but it sure is entertaining.

To be honest, I do not like the character Wes Lawrence. In fact, I like his boss the Secretary of whatever (defense?) better. Now that eleven episodes are in the can, I am getting a kick that he is finally getting his comeuppance. Of course, I kind of felt strongly that his daughter was going to be ground zero. I mean, all the clues were there. On the acting side, it is fair. There is no over-acting, although some of Claire's (Lily Rabe) facial expressions are a little over the top. But Derek Webster takes the cake in the category "Did you ever go to acting school or have any training at all?" The big question is: should there be a Season 2? 1. Based on the haphazard plot structure of Season 1, I would be inclined to ask the simple question of why? I mean, I have seen other One-Season wonders with better plots, better acting, and better structures disappear off the media map. 2. If Drill wins, then game over. Same with if the humans win. Game over, and don't come back. Does it sound like I'm not in favor of Season 2? I answer with this question: If Ray Bradbury thought that his short story needed an encore, wouldn't he have written it?

The Whispers hopefully will be more interesting but the first episode brought the show off to a good start. I'm gonna keep watching I fell as if there will be enough twists and turns to keep me watching, and also I like to see the main actress try to act because from what I'm seeing she's not that great at it.

6 EPISODES...I really tried **** is really bad tv. Nothing happens and to be honest what a dumb plot. i think people should re-watch TAKEN (the serie from Spielberg) to learn something from it.
