The series started off pretty good but somewhere along the way it became too woke, liberal, feminist. It's annoying when they push gender inequality for the slightest reason. Also they always make Chen and Bailey to be right just because they get emotional. Chen is worse, she's supposedly so insightful, emotionally intuned, yet whenever there's a problem that has to do with her, she's petty, childish and entitled. They constantly do Tim dirty. They talk about him as being a badass ex soldier, extremely experienced and smart cop but whenever they put him against a women, the show makes him look, basically, like an idiot.

Finished the pilot and I'm not going to go any further, because it's clearly "copaganda" that is going to serve a perfect storm of moments where either one category is going to be made of the good guys, sometimes the bad guys, but it's 100% going to be superficial stereotypes.

I agree 10000% with Izzy2026. The character of Bailey has been given way too much front running, but where I disagree is that she's a great actress. IMO, she's the weak link of that entire cast, even past members who have left had a stronger, more believeable presence. Her character/writing turns her scenes into a Sketchers commercial that goes extreme LIFETIME movie. Corny, unrealistic, and often times forced romantic scenes ruin the show. They are letting her character make Nolan look spineless and girl whipped. So many times Bailey has take down men that would be impossible for her to do. Put her in the background not in the front of Nolan or better yet do away with her character. Some think she's a great actress but I don't see it along with so many other people I know that agree.I LOVE the show but dislike the character of Bailey. I mean, fine his girl is a fire-figher, a war veteran, an unrealistic hand-to-hand fighter (when it fits the script) a detective(when it fits the script) and is basically a Swiss-Army Knife of Nonsense when the writing is poor. TBH, I would be psyched if Nolan turns out to be gay and dates Skip-Tracer-Randy. It's already more believable than this Bailey superhero nonsense.

The Rookie worked very well for me. It is a highly entertaining show, very well made within its format, and it has a fairly unusual ability to stay likable even when it moves through territory that many other police dramas have already covered. It starts from an effective and appealing premise, the late rookie, but the good thing is that it does not rely only on that initial hook. It knows how to build a familiar world, give room to its characters, and find a solid balance between action, humor, camaraderie, and drama.A big part of that works because of Nathan Fillion. He has more than enough charisma to carry a show like this and to make Nolan feel approachable without becoming annoying or overly saintly. But the best part is that the series does not live on him alone. It has an ensemble cast that works well, with chemistry, energy, and characters who, even when they sometimes fit recognizable patterns, still manage to have a life of their own. You can tell the show is designed so that viewers want to come back each week and spend time with these **** pacing is another strength. The episodes go down easily, they usually move with real energy, and they almost always find an effective way to combine case-of-the-week material, character progression, and emotional tension without making everything feel like procedural paperwork. It is not a revolution in the genre, of course, but it knows very well how to make polished mainstream television, and that is harder than it looks.I also like that, within its lighter tone, it does not completely avoid touching on more uncomfortable issues related to policing, abuse of power, institutional racism, or the public image of law enforcement. Sometimes it handles those elements better than others, but at least it tries not to be just a clean fantasy of charming cops solving everything without friction. That gives the show a little more substance.A different matter is the noise coming from people obsessed with calling anything “woke” the moment it gives meaningful space to women, non-white characters, or LGBTQ+ characters. That kind of backlash does not interest me much as serious criticism, because it often comes less from actually engaging with the show than from a reflex rejection of seeing a broader range of people on screen. The series can certainly be criticized for being implausible, repetitive, or softened in places, but reducing it to that grievance-based rhetoric feels shallow to me.That said, I would not call The Rookie untouchable. It has weaker episodes, occasionally implausible twists, and moments when it embraces an almost impossible-adventure tone that can take you out of it a bit. But honestly, that is part of the package. It is a series that wants to entertain, stay likable, and keep you hooked, and in that it succeeds. It is not The Wire, and it does not need to **** the end, The Rookie feels like a very enjoyable and effective show, with more charm than some people are willing to admit. It is well written within its lane, well acted, and very well calibrated as television entertainment. And sometimes that is worth much more than the pose of importance from other shows that promise prestige and leave nothing behind.

This series is far from realistic and, full of false clichés!
Too woke and full of lies, the criminals are all white and the black people are the good citizens—"uh, the showrunners, no, its actually the other way around in real life!" Its just a a smelly woke turd!

4/13/2026 The Rookie has officially jumped the shark. I thought the had run out of ideas with the zombie episode but this one strapped on the water skis and went for it. I am very sad because I love the cast.

I'm enjoying this show quite a bit for the most part. The way the TOs treat their trainees though, it's ridiculous most of the time and is the weakest part of the show so far. Nolan is the best part of the show and keeps me watching it. Bradford I wish would get written out.

It starts as an interesting take on "Police with bodycam footage" series. The first series, I'd say, it's quite intriguing. By the end of the second season it already starts to become a very stupid Hollywoodian series on Netflix. After Jackson departure the whole show gets also emptied of any sort of lgbt-character whatsoever aside villains, because everyone knows women and **** peeps make the best villains ofc. Arriving at season 5 you already seen everything: stormtroopers-like aim, ass pulls to make the writing work, generally lackluster acting. Whatever happened to this series, it quickly goes from an acceptable 7 to an oustanding 1. I just chose the inbetween.

Started out pretty good until they went full blown woke. Not realistic. All against white people and making them all bad against black people. Every white character was either a bigot or part of a white supremacy grp. And they add in the gays episode 12 of season 1. They just can't help themselves. I long for more realistic cop shows to return to Hollywood!! But not likely to ever happen. And as always they have female lead as captain. Just comical at this point!

Season one was actually enjoyable until the hole woke thing started. And its extremely unrealistic too. why does Nyla Harper have a Elcan sight and a acog on her rifle and a rmr on top of the Elcan? Why do standard patrol cops support SWAT operations while acting like operators? Why do they go on SWAT missions with a standard pistol instead of a rifle? this is series is pure slop. Pure woke cop series slop. this series doesn't even make it seem realistic as well. Do not watch it .

I really like first few seasons, somewhere in the sixth season or so it started changing in that after school ABC special, if you know what I mean, just..fluff. Ya, like others have said, got really “woke” and full of ****!

It's a perfect example of how to turn an entertaining show with a good premise into a misguided, misandric, woke copaganda. You could think words like WOKE and COPAGANDA are mutually exclusive but since season 3 The Rookie keeps on proving they are match made in woke heaven. Season 1 is actually a very solid entertainment, season 2 was good, but after that the showrunners and writers went full on woke, like pedal to the metal, no handbrakes woke, to the point half of the scenes are either stupid or absurd. The show turned into such weird woke, man-hating cop fantasy that you keep shaking your head with disbelief. What's worst, all this 'WE WOMEN STRONG WE CAN DO IT ALL ON OUR OWN YAY GO SUPERWOMEN' is only superficial. There's not a single believable, well-writen woman character on the show. It's all a bunch of Mary Sues empowering each other with cliched, hamfisted lines and every other sentence **** on or belittles men. This show could be titled Legendary Pretty Princesses from the Kick-Ass Kingdom and their Apologetic Smurf-blue Dwarf Sidekicks Save the LA Land From All Evil, it could feature friendly aliens from galaxy WOKEXIMA-69 seeking asylum and welfare benefits in the city of angels, genderfluid angels marrying the unicorns who save the world from terrorists and it will be no less believable than it is now. And you know what's the funniest about its existence? It's when all these 'new Rookie' apologists who love it finally come down from their seasonal woke copaganda trip, back to their real life. And it turns out there are as many incompetent women as men in the real life, it turns out a 5 ft short paper weight chick can't beat the **** out of a heavy weight buffed out 6 ft guy and when she tries, he'll most likely kill or maim her, it's a world in which a woman can hurt other woman mentally like no man would, and where the real life LA cops hunt and round immigrants not unlike the **** Germans hunted the Jews during WW2 and ship them out like they have no rights.. And it's a world in which woke propaganda keeps doing the irreparable damage to the society, not only by alienating straight men from the right of center (of all colors, not only white), but succeeds in alienating the liberal-minded ones. Guess what, real life world isn't all black and white like the woke and alt-right shows and media wants you to believe. I'm a liberal, would never vote for the lying, pathetic, fascist Agent Orange aka putin's ****, I have absolutely nothing against gay people, yet I **** hate all these woke **** like The Rookie with a passion. Go figure!

This show very frustrating, because it has a lot of potential to be really great. There some really good charm to the characters at time, and obviously Nathan Fillion the best part of this show. The famous bit with the cope cutie song popular on Instagram, is what got me interested in watching this show, it seems very wholesome, funny at times, down to earth show. Season 1 and 2 are pretty solid and live up to this for the most part. Writing not perfect but its a weekly format show so i forgave it. But season 3 is going down hill fast. Just very full of liberal woke agenda, very anti men, anti police messaging for a show about cops. I'm starting to wonder if all the CW writers took over for this show? It very clear there was a political shift in the writing mid 2020, and the show decided to lean hard political. I think Season 3 will probable be where I end it on.

Turned into a liberal woke fest so fast it’s unbelievable. Has every bleeding heart liberal trope you can think of. Nolan gets sensitivity training from a black activist. All the women are stronger and more capable than their male counterparts. Had to stop watching.

It’s like a police-themed "Ted Lasso"! While it might not be as polished in writing, it’s totally worth it for the characters and the consistently great humour and feel-good vibes.

What started as good, fast-paced fun series with a truly talented cast has over the years deteriorated into barely watchable woke-rama. There was great character chemistry, there were beliveable dilemmas, honest and dishonest mistakes, but they were slowly replaced by a boring agenda that has **** most of the life out of the show. A shame. But some people will rate it much better I guess, those for whom the political agenda is the most important part of art and movie production. I disagree, and get bored. If you like politics, go be a politician, it's a free country. You don't have to do TV.

I binged the living **** outta **** I just want to say what the bads are about this show, some episodes are just not interesting but it still keeps you hooked. But trust me when it needs to hit hard, it hits HARD. Next is sad music at the end of each episode...remove it and use cinematic music instead. And finally, this is more a nitpick, but don't create unnecessary drama with relationships, it gets a bit too chummy if you know what I mean. Stick with the wild and cool storylines like the previous seasons to hold everything together. Other than that, really nice show. 8/10.

Very action-packed. Nearly every episode had an interesting storyline. The characters are unique and well-rounded. Recurring themes/characters were commendable and furthered the overall plot of the show. Real-world messages can be learned from this show and there was a decent amount of humor sprinkled throughout each ep.

The Rookie is a police show with Nathan Fillion.
The show has popped on my local Netflix and most reviews were saying the first couple of seasons were good but it went down badly from season 3. My plan was to stop watching before that point.
I can't even imagine how bad season 3 must be because I'm still on the pilot and it's already pretty meh.
Watching a tiny girl taking down a guy twice her weight in hand-to-hand combat is kind of funny but at the same time absolutely ridiculous.
Ah well. It's a show from after 2016. I was expecting it to be bad so I'm not disappointed.

A nice show which you can easely watch with your partner. Even though the action is completely overdone for a standard police officer.
A bit strange is that many main actors leaving the show after some seasons or even episodes, without any logical reason - there must have been some serious problems in the production-environment.
Also the whole "Inclusion" topic is a bit annoying.

Season one was really good. Seasons two and three were decent, with a few exceptional episodes. Season four was horrible. Many episodes were gimmicks, the story telling watered down and they started inserting political propaganda. For these reasons I stopped watching the show during season four. When season five started I decided to give the show another try and I was glad to see they had shifted back to storytelling.
Lowered rating because they started the goofy as camera crap again.

Amending my review, in general it is a great show. Lots of heart. I watch it to decompress after a stressful day. Please extend for Season 5. However, season 3 is so heavy-handed with the social messaging - there should be drinking game devoted to it. It's so obvious that it is jarring. I can support the issues - but it is so over-the-top and most of it is presented without any nuance.

The first two seasons were amazing entertaining and fun. Season 3 the toxic WOKE identity politics crap took over completely ruining the show. The echo chamber show runners exist in must be deafening with the shrill squeals of the perpetually offended wake up guys people don’t want to listen to this rubbish

Really enjoyed the show for the first two seasons. Now in the third season there has been so many forced interactions and ham-fisted scripts it really reminds you that you are watching a show in 2021. The immersion is lost when all the sudden stats and political talking points are thrown around in what should be everyday conversations.

This was a fairly decent and entertaining show until season 3. They went full woke and not even subtle or tactful. Every episode is a non stop lecture about how whites are all bad and evil - and blacks are never, ever, ever, responsible for their actions because YT doesn't like them.

Cops are bad.
Male cops are very bad.
White cops are bad.
Female cops are good, especially if they are not white.
Homosexual relationships are just like every other relationship. What did you expect? It's ABC. You might want to think about what you're feeding if you're thinking of taking your kids to Disneyland.

I have enjoyed the show. The cop scenes have all been done before, but the show is really about the characters interaction. It's decent work. They've done a pretty good job at showing characters in multiple lights - often total jerks but then give more information to show they are human. The first two seasons, the politics was ever present, but kept to a minimum. Season 3 is getting far more woke. So far it is just annoying - they made the obligatory racist cop shows - but at least they mde it about a single cop, but the non-stop "cleaning up the force" or "it's not any better that it used to be" got pretty old. The episode 6 anti-cop bits undermine the show. If the politics get any stronger, even Nathan Fillion won't be able to help.

The first season was fantastic. But I barely made it to the fourth episode of the second season before I had to shut it off. Woke hollywood writers have an uncanny talent for taking a promising show - any promising show (GoT anyone?) and ruining it with their absurd ideology. What a waste. 5/10

I don't understand this enthusiasm for this mediocre police series. The characters are all flat. After 5 episodes the series is already burning.
If that shows the police in the United States then I fully understand the protests. There is shooting and shouting before you think. Thanks to the personable figure of Nathan Fillion, the series is bearable.

I need to confess my love for this show. Metacritic doesn't even think enough of it to give the seasons their own ratings/review page, lol. This is such a silly show, the speed at which "cases" and incidents that appear each week are wrapped up is supersonic, with what are supposedly lifelong hardened criminals simply admitting to things outright, or finalizing 2 minute shootouts. It's very silly, but it's also really very sweet. Tuned in at first for Nate, because he's the man, but the rest of the cast preform admirably, and it's one of my favorite shows of the week. It's trite by any estimation, but it's fun, funny, and like a Sunday night hug.
