Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint7
Mar 19, 2021
This game does a lot to improve on the variety of game play form wildlands but also does a lot to complicate it. The RPG elements and looter shooter aspects of the game are not for everyone, but have certainly kept me engaged chasing gear levels and guns. Though the gear levels are more just a number and don't seem to have much effect in the end.

I don't know if its the 60fps or the haptics in the PS5 dual sense, but something feels tighter. I pushed Captain America to power cap at launch and stop playing around November of 2020. There has been a host of quality of life improvements since then. Camera angles, animations, and UI clean up have given the game a fresh feeling that was lost during my 130 hours or play the first time around. Though Kate Bishop and Hawkeye's expansions are short they give a reason to come back and continue the grind to push your heroes level and gear scores up. Especially if you have a friend or two to play with. The biggest reason I had stopped playing the first time was the horrendous load times. Short mission + load times = not enough fun. Now that loads are quick the down time between gameplay is vastly reduced and therefore keeps the pace up and the fun.

Waited a long time to play this. They patched out some of the more egregious micro transactions and shortened the end game length. Loved the loot system and improved on most other systems form the first game. Maybe a little rushed out, a few rough edges.

Combat is excellent. Quick pace and great story that makes minor changes the lore from Tolkien. Spent countless hours just roaming around picking fights with orcs.

Nearly perfect in every way and certainly deserving of a 10! The combat is excellent and the traversal is intoxicating. Maybe there could be more to do in the free roam after you've beaten the game, but at that point you've invested 30+ hours so... maybe its not really a complaint

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands9

Put nearly 100 hours into the game. Certainly has aspects not everyone will enjoy but can't beat the game play loop of planing out a mission and executing perfectly. patients is required and it most certainly will go at some point point.

This game isn't for everyone, but it wasn't designed to be. Don't assume just because you like PS4's Spider-man you'll like this game. It's more analogis to a destiny or borderlands. There is a serviceable campaign that you can play without leaning to heavily into the gaas (games as a service) style design. But if you want to play as your favorite heroes and maybe grind through waves of enemy's while chasing a "battle pass" (think fortnite) then this game will keep your coming back. If not just for the future heroes that will be added for free in the months and hopefully years to come.

there is certainly little quirks that make it frustrating. But overall it is very fun and addictive. Nothing that can't be patched. Maybe wait a till the next update but definitely something that you want to pick up.
