A great series but unlike TNG, DS9 is preachy and heavily commentary to social and political ideologies. Worth a watch but not my favorite.

The best Star Trek show or movie ever made. I'd choose Picard of Sisko any day, but overall Deep Space Nine has the best characters, best ships, best story arcs, lasting consequences and the most memorable scenes of them all.

To then-CBS credit Gene was given semi-autonomy to create this masterpiece. My favorite Star Trek TV series period,. End of story. Drop the Mic. Why did Star Trek have to die when Gene did?

The most ambitious series of the lot. Highly important to challenge the vision that TNG set up However, I find the cynicism a little too much at times. The Vision of Star Trek is diplomacy, reason and hope for mankind. I love DS9, but I find TNG to be the perfect standard of Roddenberry's vision. If DS9 ever gets a HD release, it will probably be a 10/10 for me

Noticeably worse than TNG but still very watchable and better than 90% of the garbage being spat out today, sadly. DS9 characters are very horny and "space magic" is lazily used to explain too many occurrences without going into the scientific detail the TNG crew would have. DS9 is like TNG's less attractive cousin you still bang once but not multiple times like TNG.

TOS loved it, but way dated visuals now. TNG felt like a work in progress that never landed. Voyager was it's own thing out of the way of the main universe. Enterprise a thought experiment that didn't quite work out, but nice try. DS9 felt like they had refined the Next Generation format. When I think of definitive modern Star Trek writing I think of DS9. Not forgetting so many great and memorable characters. Sisko, Odo, Quark, Garak, Dukat, Worf, Dax.

Love it. My favorite star trek ever. You won't regret watching it, best for binge watching

Almost my favourite Star Trek Series: I like the political focus of it and also the war elements. The races Jem Hadar, Cardassian, Vorta and Founders are great and the story about them was perfect also. The series was shining, when an episode was about them. The dialogues are also more adult. Of course the characters are very important in a Series: I liked Garak and Weyoun the most, they are most "grey" characters, Andrew Robinson and Jeffrey Combs did a great job also. Quark, Odo, Worf and Nog were are also very good. Ben Siskos character is very good, a natural leader, but Avery Brooks is just an average actor. On opposite Major Kira was the worst character: very feminist and sometimes even ridiculous. Only her relationship with Odo was beautiful and Nana Visitor acted well. Chief Miles O Brien, Keiko and Bashir were not so good characters also. The first season starts very slow (around 6/10), so you need some patience. It gets better in the 2nd season and even better in the 3rd season.

This is my favorite Trek series after the original. Better than TNG, much better than Voyager. Unlike others, it takes place on a space station instead of a space ship. If you've seen a star trek show (not discovery or picard, that's not star trek) then you don't need a description of what it's about.

Am very fond of 'Star Trek', a childhood staple in the family household, on the most part. Some shows are better than others and the films are a very mixed bag, but when the franchise is good goodness isn't it great. 'Deep Space 9' has polarised viewers, though a lot have deemed it the jewel of the 'Star Trek' franchise. From personal view, wouldn't go that far. For a vast majority of the time, 'Deep Space 9' is a great show and at its best some of the best of all things 'Star Trek'. It is one of the better 'Star Trek' incarnations. But the best? Not quite. Despite its many wonderful elements, not everything works initially and it is at times uneven. Starting with 'Deep Space 9's' faults, the show does have a fairly weak first couple of seasons. Especially a slow-going and very finding-its-feet Season 1, where things felt unsettled, feel bland and lacking the richness of what came later and what set the show apart from the other incarnations of the franchise and the lead characters are underdeveloped. While most of the acting is great actually, there are exceptions. A particular exception is Terry Farrell's flat out awful in every sense of the word Jadzia, zero acting skills and manages to make a character of good potential grating. Just as bad is Avery Brooks, his acting containing a lot of hammy over-compensating which more often than not was embarrassing in the most over-acted moments, at other times he looked like he couldn't be bothered. Nanna Visitor brings a rather limited range of just two or three emotions to Kira, neither of which she does particularly convincingly. However, once 'Deep Space 9' hit its stride properly in Season 3 (though there were glimpses of promise in the second half of Season 2) it is as dark and mature as has been often touted. So if wondering whether the show gets better after a rocky couple of seasons it is well worth sticking with. The story-lines are very compelling that touch on some remarkably dark, ahead of the time and mature themes that one rarely saw before previously in 'Star Trek'. Similarly, the writing is thought-provoking with a good deal of tension and pathos. Some of it is talky but rambling is very rare and it doesn't get overly-complicated. The action is exciting and staged well. Characterisation is remarkably rich and complex with compellingly real conflicts and chemistry, even for 'Star Trek' that often excelled in characterisation, character interactions and the conflicts. Odo, Quark and Garak fare particularly well, and how lovely it was to see Worf and actually well used. Visually, 'Deep Space 9' is an audacious and polished looking show that is rich in atmosphere and simple style, keeping it simple and not overly elaborate which was just right. The music is easy to remember, fits well and good well composed music in its own right. Excellent acting from the rest of the cast, with standout performances from Rene Auberjonois and Andrew Robinson. Louise Fletcher and Alexander Siddig are not far behind and Jeffrey Coombs shows off his underrated versatility. Michael Dorn does a very good job as Worf, and it was just to see the character again as said. In conclusion, starts off iffy and a few performances underwhelm, but once it hits its stride at its best it boasts some of the best of 'Star Trek' in general. 8/10 Bethany Cox

Though not the best Star trek show still great Captain Cisco and the rest of the characters are compelling with a lot of moral ambiguity and different views that compete against each other to find compromises DS9 is a great show worth watching

If you’re a Star Trek fan, this show is for you. Trek has always been about inclusion and what our world could be if we put away hate. This show is everything.

It is the worst show known to humanity. Any time spent watching it is a waste of life.

It is the best Start Trek series and also a frequent contender for best science fiction series. Like TNG it started slow and improved with later season. They nailed the character development and interactions. They gave us remarkable stories and lot to discuss. I will name the most controversial episode here “In the pale moonlight”. While no one says it is not well made and always in the top 5 or 10 Star Trek episodes it is divisive. Wont go into details as it should be seen with open mind and comparing the alternatives of the decisions there. Lets talk about the cast: Avery Brooks as Benjamin Sisko has become my favourite captain. He is relatable and his character arc or growth is excellent. Nana Visitor as Kira Nerys has a lot of backstory and baggage. She was a freedom fighter or some would say terrorist to free their people. Rene Auberjonois as Odo is a shapeshifter alien who works as security officer and is a great detective. Terry Farrel as Jadzia Dax is unlike everything you have seen in Star Trek (meant positive). Alexander Siddig as Julian Bashir is first a bit boring put develops to a great character in later seasons. Colm Meaney as Miles O’Brian is a fitting example how to improve a character from TNG to DS9. Armin Simerman as Quark is just so an enjoyable character. Michael Dorn as Worf is the best addition to the cast of a Star Trek series except Seven of Nine for Voyager. He added a lot. I must also mention Marc Alaimo as Gul Dukat. He is the deepest character and maybe the best villain in Star Trek. His arcs and developments are amazing as you get insight into a well done character. Andrew Robinson as Elim Garak is our favourite tailor and also a contender for deepest and most interesting character. I end this here because it will get too long. There are other good supporting characters and the character development improved all of the mayor players. The story lines are excellent. Be it the Bajorans struggle to find their ways, the conflict with the Klingons, Romulans, Maquis or Dominion arc. They show all sides of the conflicts and you get insights. I like the flaws and struggles as no side is flawless or only heroic. There will be sacrifices and a compromise can be worse than anything you can imagine. There are internal struggles in the Federation and you can see the differences in being far away and make decisions and being at the front and see how ignorant these are. Again I will say there is a lot to talk and discuss about this show and it is the beauty of it. There is no perfect solution in a non perfect world and the best intends can backfire. I again wont go into details because of spoilers. I will name my recommendations in the reviews for the individual seasons. Then there is the humour. We got a lot of it and it always works well. I end my review here with my conclusion because I ran out of space. Overall the best Star Trek series and still worth watching.

An excellent series that gets better with each season. DS9 tests Gene Roddenberry's philosophy but unlike bleak garbage like Star Trek Discovery and Star Trek Picard, DS9 has memorable 3dimensional characters and good episodes without any of the depressing canon-breaking nonsense. Enjoy it!

A more timeless show than its peers. An outpost on the frontier. Every day an exercise in keeping the peace, and trying to enforce a hint of order. A likeable performance from nearly EVERY character. The most frustrating enemies, you'll begin to sympathize with. The side characters who seem to have the least to say, you'll get into their backstory and development arcs very soon. And like the obsidian order.. you'll find a story hidden under every rock and hiding in every corner! :) Just when things start to slow down, you'll find perfectly plausible sci fi stories appear out of thin air. (Hah hah, I know.. like a WORMHOLE!.. ahem, sorry.) The ferengi can be likeable! A shapeshifter can be the most dangerous enemy. The trill have stories for days, and klingons make for good company, and cardassians are rude and untrustworthy ~ BUT LIKEABLE, sometimes. Its a big station, and sometimes we gotta go clean up an abandoned part, or we heard a rumor from a passing freighter, or someone sold us a knick knack that shapeshifts, and best of all we dont have to STRICTLY adhere to starfleet crap like TNG or Voyager does! This is a frontier show, and sometimes we have to fraternize with our enemies. Sometimes we have to hand the town over. Things will work themselves out, things will get frustrating. But in a good way. That is DS9, and its the best star trek. :)

I just completed a re-watch and Deep Space Nine is still worth seeing. In fact, from all the Star Trek shows, it is my favorite and it hasn’t aged as much as the other shows. The storylines that span several seasons are extremely well written and the cast of actors, especially in the recurring roles, is very good. I just wish there would be a 4K remastering soon.
