This is not the candy-coated girl power of CBS's freshman series "Supergirl," which is doing something very different (and doing it very effectively). Jessica Jones is more psychologically complex, acknowledging how painful it can be to flee, to be free--even when you have an iron fist.

Jessica Jones is unlike anything Marvel or DC has tried in the live-action realm, and it's excellent.

The first season is the best because it has a very interesting and unique villain played by the extremely talented David Tennant. Excellent story and twists. Season one Jessica Jones is top-notch quality. If it isn't better than Daredevil, it's on par with it.

The show is often shot in a flat, predictable manner, which is likely a choice made to place emphasis on the deep emotion of the piece instead of a perceived “comic book look,” but it results in a show that has almost no visual language at all.... Luckily, it’s never dull in every other department. From Ritter’s totally engaged performance--this character could have been pure snark but she never gives into that impulse--to the aforementioned themes that Rosenberg so captivatingly weaves into her narrative, Marvel’s Jessica Jones works.

Jessica Jones could use a bit more wit, overall. But its messed-up, tough, brave heroine holds our interest every moment.

Smartly adapted by Melissa Rosenberg, Jessica Jones doesn't require an advanced degree in comics history.

It took five episodes for me to get interested--three too many, in these days of television glut. And only after the seventh and eighth did the cruel and clever plot twists (which include graphic torture) become truly gripping. In the early episodes, the pacing was logy and the action muddy, with several subplots that itched to be trimmed or recast.

Plays like an over-extended 13-hour arc pitting her against mind-controlling villain Kilgrave. Less would have been more. [9-22 Nov 2015, p.13]

Jessica Jones is my 2nd favorite Marvel show, my 3rd favorite new show of 2015, and one of my top 5 favorite superhero shows. The classic detective/noir style, theme, and tone of the show is outstanding, I love it. Krysten Ritter's performance is exceptional, she gives a powerful, deep, and complex performance. The other performances from David Tennant, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, Rachael Taylor, and Colby Minifie were phenomenal. The writing is remarkable especially the way they approach, depict, and touch on dark subjects like ****, PTSD, emotional and mental trauma, and assault that most shows are to scared to especially Marvel and superhero shows. The music is stupendous. The costumes were excellent especially on Krysten Ritter and Rachael Taylor. An A+ first season.

Nothing great. Everything outside the Jessica-Killgrave relationship has very little relevance and removes emotion from the episodes.

Even though it was pretty well directed, acted and executed, I had to force myself through the mid-to-last episodes. It seemed to me like it should have ended at 8 episodes rather than 13 and it took rather too long to get the story to it's peak. The villain was excellent and expertly acted. Jessica character was a bit too moody for me, like she had her period during all the show..

Watched all of season 1: flat, hollow, tinny. Not going to bother with season 2. All these Marvel TV series seem to be at the same level and I'm not even going to try them anymore. I think the problem is that there is no art here, it's just people cashing in on the property.
