Absolutely a phenomenal show. I binged watched season 1 and 2. It has its own twist from the movie with tom cruise and Brad Pitt, which I love. The vampire scenes are absolutely gore fantastic! The acting is amazing from the whole cast. 10/10

AMC’s Interview with the Vampire is everything I hoped for—dark, beautiful, and deeply moving, especially those of us that have read the books. The performances (especially Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid) are phenomenal, the writing is fckin amazing, and the visuals are breathtaking!!! It honors Anne Rice while creating something fresh and unforgettable. Easily one of the best shows on TV. I cannot wait for next season !!!

Interview with the Vampire is nothing short of mesmerizing. It takes Anne Rice’s beloved novel and breathes vivid, haunting life into it, honoring the source material while confidently carving out its voice and identity. The show is lush, atmospheric, and emotionally complex, with a tone that feels both modern and timeless. At the center of it all is Jacob Anderson, whose performance as Louis is nothing less than extraordinary. The entire show rests on his shoulders—and he carries it with effortless strength and aching vulnerability. His portrayal is layered, heartbreaking, and magnetic. You believe every moment, every internal war, every flicker of desire and regret. This isn’t just a great adaptation—it’s a daring, beautifully crafted story in its own right. Gothic television at its absolute best.

It always happens that when a new adaptation of something comes out, people have a negative opinion of it. Here we have an adaptation that seeks to do the same as the movie, tell us the story of Louis and a few more vampires. This series is an example of how good an adaptation can be, because it not only emphasizes what happens in the book, it also makes changes that in my opinion are very clever and what a way to exploit a story through the medium it offers. I love this series and what a delightful story. I personally love the handling and direction of the characters as they really grab you. What a way to grab the audience. It was a journey of emotions and drama that I will not hesitate to repeat.

This is how you do TV. This is how to freshly adapt from a book for the modern age. I don’t mind the changes, they still kept the spirit of the novels and in many ways vastly improved upon it. Fantastic and very underrated.

A clever and sumptuous show based on Anne Rice’s vampire book series. Beautiful writing, costuming and cinematography are topped off by astounding acting, especially from the leads Jacob Anderson (Louis), Sam Reid (Lestat) and Eric Begosian (interviewer Daniel). If it was on a bigger network it would have multiple Emmy’s.

Interview with the vampire brings the best of television, the series has great actors that give award-worthy performances every episode, a script so beautiful and well-tied that doesn't let anything lacking and a beautiful photography on top of it, all that remaining true to Anne Rice's amazing characters while bringing them to a new light. It is an adaptation that does much more than just telling the story, it reinvents and puts it under a new light, it truly feels like a breath of fresh air. One of, if not, the best show on television nowdays.

Really wanted to like this show, had read the books a couple years before hearing about this and had my hopes up. Unfortunately just another contributing piece to what will be come to be known as “The Cultural Dark Ages”.

Filmed with all of the style and mystique of the original movie. This tv show is absolutely one of the worst pieces of trash ever to come across the screen. It has no bearing whatsoever on the original story. Has nothing to do with the life of a vampire. Instead it's about pushing gay agenda, Which nobody wants to see. It doesn't matter how much they push this garbage. It's not natural, And it's not ever going to succeed. So they've racked up another huge monetary loss, In hopes of destroying society.

Dislike tv shows buying the book rights and naming the tv show same as book and then its a different story. WTF if you bought the rights to a story why do you change it, obviously they bought the NAME. They payed for the viewers that come from the NAME. And this bait and switch system they have is very disappointing

Racists/homophobes/misogynists came out to review bomb again I see. The period story is convincing, sexy, fun and unsettling at times. The contemporary scenes strain for a kind of operatic tone with a tongue in cheek humor that doesn't work for me, but the period sequences are the reason to watch.

Outstanding show, I love a story, dynamic between characters and performances are top notch all around. Visually, it's a stunning looking from start to finish. I'm ready for season 2...

They should not have called it "Anne Rice's Story." It's apparent they waited for her to die to release a show that is nowhere near her story. Would be a 0/10 but Jacob Anderson is a gifted actor.

Based on Anne Rice's novels, Interview with the Vampire is a delicious and gorgeous love story. The revamped elements of the plot are done cleverly and help proffer credulity. Interview with the Vampire boasts of a stellar cast that bring the best (and worst) of their characters with as much fine detail that's necessary. The styling is effortlessly dark, gothic and flamboyant with great visuals (setting, costume and special effects.) The scenes are consistently paced and enlivened with a well composed and dramatic score. Interview with the Vampire is easily one of the best shows of 2022.

Amazing. You have to watch it twice to really take it in and appreciate the detail. There is a reason for every action, every line, and every scene. The sets, story, costumes and character development are all wonderful. The series's greatest strength is its ability to remain fairly true to it's source material while still taking refreshing creative liberties that will feel nostalgic yet unique in its approach. I tend to be a little more on the conservative side, but still found this show to be one of the best tv series I've seen in the last few years. It's inclusive without being "woke". The inclusivity is addressed so well that the series manages to successfully avoid pushing political agendas onto viewers while still addressing social topics of race, sexuality, humanity, and abuse. The characters are all complex and well developed. It does have a certain level of silliness, but still is a poignant and elegant vampire series to be taken seriously. There is an appropriate balance of horror, love, intellect, and mystery written into the story. A wonderful series I hope stays around for years to come.

One of the best new shows of the year. Fantastic writing, acting and pacing. Nevermind the book purists who are review bombing due to this not being a 1:1 adaption.

Look, it's a good vampire show. Louis is excellent, some of the changes are fairly welcome, the dialogue is pretty on-point, and it's incredibly high budget. So why the 6/10? Well, I'll start by saying I don't care that Louis is black. It works. I mark the show down because of a few things, and all of them at their core have to do with the fact that I don't feel as though the creators really GOT what made the gothic charm of the original book so powerful. The pace is all over the place. They spend too long in America, but it doesn't linger scene-to-scene. And Vampire Chronicles should really linger, with haunting quiet moments of reflection, slow scenic shots, and moments where they are showing - rather than telling - every emotion on the face of the characters. That's the one area the previous movie did well, which this show does so poorly. There's no pause for reflection - just a string of stitched-together scenes with all quiet cut out, like a mid 2000s YouTube video. But Interview should be quiet in between the storms, to reflect the life of the immortal beings it focusses on. My second major complaint is that they sexualise the characters. An absolutely marvellous thing about the books (and movie) was that it is a romance without it being about sex, gender, age ... anything. It's simply eternal love. The Anne Rice vampires were unable to have sex, and that really worked. Companions were companions, and it meant more than human love. I really don't care that they gayed it up by a factor of six. My complaint is that they changed the source material to move away from something which made Chronicles vampires so incredibly original and interesting. My last major complaint has to do with the casting of Lestat and Claudia. Lestat is supposed to be incredibly charming, but instead he comes off as poncy, smug, and unlikeable at times. The actor does incredibly well during scenes of anger or higher emotion, but scene to scene he doesn't work as Lestat. Meanwhile, this Claudia's performance pales in comparison to Dunst, but that's not my main issue with her. The biggest problem here - and perhaps time will tell it to be the biggest problem with the show - is that they got an 18 year old to play the part of a 14 year old, who was 10 in the movie and 5 in the books. Claudia's entire hook is that she's a child vampire. But she's not even that anymore. Further proof that the writers of this show don't get what made the books great. I'm excited to see where they take it, but seeing as Lestat is the most important character in the entire series, I'm not holding out a lot of hope due to the casting. They turned the Prince of Darkness into Pouting Prissy Queen (and not the good kind!), and that hurts right in the childhood.

I’ve read all the books and I liked the movie from the 90’s and was looking forward to this series. I should have known better. This is another example of people who lack creativity demolishing the work of their betters. They made numerous changes to the source material because of hubris. The changes in no way enhanced the story and often detract from it. I remember back in the 90’s when I heard Tom Cruise was cast as Lestat and I laughed. At the time I knew Cruise from Risky Business and Top Gun and could not see him pulling off Lestat. But I thought he did a decent job with the character. Not so with this version. This Lestat is flat and uninteresting. In the 90’s version Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas and a young Kirsten Dunst were also great. I don’t like anyone from this version. This series is a waste of resources. It’s just yuck.

I liked the concept. In a time where there is so much lazy race swapping, it was nice to have an actual fleshed out character and writing that acknowledges the differences and how the character experiences the world around him. unfortunately, that's where the interest ends. Everything else is so dull and uninspired. The lighting is flat and boring and gives no sense of emotion. The costume and makeup do little to present the story about beautiful vampires, mystical creatures of the night. The framing has literally nothing to offer, I have not seen a single beautiful shot that stands out and makes me pay attention. The dialogue has zero poetry, there is no single line that made me feel like it was dancing on my eardum. After the first episode, the birth of a vampire, I found there to be nothing memorable and no desire to watch any more. It's not bad television by any means, it's just standard, by the numbers and just 'OK'. I'd watch it if there was literally nothing else to watch.

Captivating and gorgeously written show. The leads have fantastic chemistry. I’ve read the 3 books and I love the changes made while also keeping true to the themes and characters.

I’m a big fan of Anne Rice work and all I can say is that I’m really in love with this show. If you have read the books you will notice that the background of some characters, timelines and actions have been changed a bit, new plots and arcs have been included, but the poetry and the essential core of the Vampire Chronicles is all there, some scenes have even entire dialogues with Anne’s prose, it’s like music to the eyes. The cast is phenomenal, everything was thought in detail: art direction, set and costume designs, cinematography, score, writting, especially the witting, everything is so fresh, new, substancial and enjoyable that makes me wonder why it took so long for Lestat, Louis, Claudia and company to get to TV. but now they are all here and it’s a must see. **** as f, human as f, dark, ultra sexy, violent, strong and sometimes deliciously camp, it’s all we love in a vampire horror love story. maybe the most purist fans, some of them full of bias and prejudice, will turn up their noses, which I think is a shame cuz they will not enjoy one of the coolest show of the year. anyhow, forget them: watch without fear, you will not regret it.

I still maintain my criticism of Season 1, with it's unnecessary changes and reliance on vampires being basically gay, which was not really a thing in the books. However, they made up for it in season 2, which is actually an improvement on the book. I just watched episode 5 and it was amazing. Went from a 2 for season 1 up to a 7 for me. I hope they come out with Lestat.

The series performs a valuable public service in showing us that marginalized vampires can be just as boring as the straight white males. It's also great to see so many TV-producing multi-millionaires, who apparently have decided not to redistribute their wealth, are woke!

This is a woke tv adaptation of a classic horror novel. It misses the point of several story elements, changes a lot for the worse (making many things make little sense), but is well directed.

As much as the show deviates in many aspects from the source, I was delightedly surprised with the storytelling and character-building of the show. Outstanding performances by Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid. Those who want a straight book television adaptation will be sorely disappointed. It's more sensual and gayer than ever and I couldn't be any happier because of that.

Magnificent! Indeed a beautiful show and Anne Rice would be so very proud! I am so grateful to both her and her son, Christopher, for giving us this delectable gift. I have never seen the Brat Prince so accurate to book and I loved the movie and Queen of the Damned, but this is a masterpiece. Louis' delivery and sophisticated sound of his voice throughout the narration are delectable and thrilling. This is purely a sensual delight! Vampires, come **** is your time to shine.

Both Anne and Christopher Rice have refused to support this, and Anne was completely and totally against fanfics of her work. Horrendous that critics are approving of this. Anne deserves better than this.

It is a reimagined version for the twenty-first century, which of course means that there will be plenty of angry reviews of people who claim it is about the accuracy or even storytelling, rather than what it is truly about: small-mindedness and hatred, but for those who enjoy great writing and acting it is pretty great. The Vampire Chronicles is a difficult universe to adapt, with the film of 1994 being distinctly underwhelming but Jacob Anderson is magnetic in the role of Louis and makes you forget all about it. I can only recommend you to watch the first two episodes because they are truly enjoyable.

An interesting original vampire series. Don't expect to find Anne Rice's characters or stories here. Everyone is re-imagined with different backstories and motivations. Almost every location is different. Time periods, both past and present, are changed. There are some slow moments, but that's to be expected early in a series. The casting is silly. Jacob Anderson is a great vampire, but would have made an excellent Lestat. Similarly, Sam Reid feels more like Louis with a nice Brad Pitt vibe. Yet my biggest dislike for the casting is that Eric Bogosian is too old to play Daniel and become a vampire later in the series. If this wasn't based on a long and very popular series of books, I'd probably have rated it much higher. If you're an Anne Rice fan, like me, you probably will not want to watch this.

A wonderfully reimagined version of one of my favorite movies and books. The acting, casting, story, production value all shine. The script is intriguing as the writers found a new way to tell the story we all know and love. It becomes a kind of a sequel and deepens and enriches the original characters. Highly recommend it after first two episodes and hoping for the future one will rise my final score.
