SummaryFull House ran for eight seasons and was one of the few primetime sitcoms to have more than 190 episodes. Early in its run, Full House received awful reviews for being too "cheesy," but it still became a popular favorite with audiences, even as the reviews remained negative throughout its run. Set in San Francisco, this is a show about a very ... Read More

It has lots of laughs but few credible plot crises to draw its energy from. But there are reminders of Dad's plight - as when he stands alone, after his mother leaves, and reflects on the very uncomic reality of dealing with his family's future. [18 Sept 1987, p.22]

Demonstrates plenty of marksmanship in the old aim-to-please department. It has a nice convivial camaraderie going for it, and one fail-safe ingredient in reserve: the proverbial cute baby. [22 Sept 1987, p.D1]

Normal I don't like shows like this, but this is amazing. Its perfect gives you comedy, emotion, action and many other things.

Predictably, this means it's a program in which the kids don't act like kids but the adults do. There are all kinds of cutesy-poo situations and lines like, "The baby's sleeping like a baby," your basic thigh-slap diaper- changing scene and a final segue into full-throttle poignance. [22 Sept 1987, p.7C]

And so it goes, one predictable situation following another, with the actors frantically trying to keep the patient from becoming a full-fledged corpse.

Full House is your standard-issue, cheap-laugh, bankrupt- of-new-ideas, claustrophobic, one-note-samba sitcom. It's enough to make you wish "Webster" were back. For provoking that sentiment alone, it should be razed. [22 Sept 1987, p.C1]

Full House isn't playing with a full deck. It oozes and blubbers for a half hour, yielding no laughs or life. You need a Geiger counter to detect its pulse. [22 Sept 1987, p.C6]

Full House is one of those TV shows that everyone just knows and is nostalgic about. Each episode has a similar plot-line—character has a conflict which progresses through the episode, and the family resolves it, resulting in a very cheesy, yet still enjoyable ending. The show feeds good morals to kids and serves sly humor for adults. Every character shows development throughout the show as a whole or even through an episode. The laugh track is a repetitive but the way that they use it makes up for it. All in all, a damn good show.

Full House was a show that I loved as a kid and watched without fail whenever it was on. However, re-watching it as a 19 year old, the show now feels bland and irritating. The production values are decent enough and there are some good morals. On the other hand, the music in my opinion is forgettable at best, while the writing and jokes are forced and rather lame and the stories are predictable and so sugary sometimes it makes your teeth hurt with any problems solved all too easily. I don't now care for the characters either, excepting Kimmy and Stephanie perhaps, however Joey, Danny and Becky manage be both bland and annoying, but worst was Michelle. At the start she was cute, as she got older she got brattier and brattier, the Disneyland episode for example epitomises this. The acting suffers from a lack of genuine comic timing. Overall, loved it as a kid, but I just cannot forgive its irritations and blandness now. 1/10 Bethany Cox

I didn't like the episodes with the Beach Boys, I thought it was a bit silly and rather dull, I didn't like any of the songs either as they bring back traumatic memories. I am no longer a fan of the Beach Boys now.
