The humor in Friday Night Dinner is often as surprising as it is rude. But there's a spirit of good-natured goofball charm evident in this family whose members clearly love one another, quirks and all.

It's a credit to Popper that the running gags seem fresh and funny every time, and that he can mine so much humor from a weekly dinner. But as long as he does, I'll have the table set.

Dinner isn't quite ready to take its place in the Brit-com hall of fame, but it's good for a laugh or three.

Even with the cross-pond cultural differences, young adults who are perennially baffled by their aging boomer parents will feel right at home here.

Friday Night Dinner, which had its first season on the British Channel 4 this spring, is a rowdier, sweatier, more profane show that will probably seem more typically British to American fans of "Fawlty Towers" or "The Royle Family."

This show is incredibly funny, and will get a laugh out of anybody who watches it. While the scenarios are usually pushed and forced, they're always enjoyable to see and the personalities of the main cast are dynamic and entertaining. The incredible comedy and acting of actors such as Simon Bird and Paul Ritter really make the series enjoyable, their catchphrases and relatability being an easy way to pull you in and keep you watching, while we get to slowly see Johnny and Adam grow up and mature by the end of the series. Would HIGHLY recommend!
