Thrillingly unpredictable fourth installment of Fargo. ... A dark tide of inventive quirkiness. [28 Sep - 11 Oct 2020, p.8]

Season 4 may not go down as the best year of “Fargo.” The structure lurches a bit, episode to episode, and the cast can’t collectively hit the highs of prior seasons’ players. (In part because they’re not asked to, given the dour tone.) But Hawley’s choice to evolve beyond his established structure is as necessary as it is invigorating.

I love it!! Fargo, season 4 is awesome. I am amazed with their acting. I especially like the names of characters in the show. Every name is very unusual.

Season 4 is terrific, it starts a bit slow, but builds up nicely. Great characters, great story.

Fargo is significantly better than the disappointing third season, though probably not as good as the near-perfect second season.

Because it antes in so many pots, this “Fargo” is like a thick novel – frequently unwieldy. Schwartzman and Buckley get lost (just when you need them the most); Timothy Olyphant and Jack Huston show up as lawmen when you’re not quite ready for them.

Fargo has always been more a triumph of style than substance, but here, the discrepancy is broader than ever.

Fargo is full of riches—decadent set pieces and fascinating visual choices—but they ornament a sparse narrative. ... Fargo isn’t bad. It tries to do so many things, and it kind of succeeds at a lot of them. But it serves too many masters to transcend the sum of its parts.

Earlier iterations of Fargo drew a lot of their power from a wide ensemble of curious people. Here, every introductory quirk is immediately annoying. ... It doesn’t help that, as the two characters with most prominence on their respective sides, Schwartzman and Rock are giving two flavors of bad performance.

Don’t be fazed by the negative reviews. This a classic and sticks true to the Fargo formula. Must watch for all day 1 Fargo fans

The season started off so promising, but it ended up being just one monologue after another. People don't stop to tell stories every five seconds in real life. It feels like Hawley is stuck in a one-note orchestra. The acting wasn't that great this season, despite an amazing cast on paper. A side note, which does not affect my score: the entire message of the season appears to be that white people are evil, and women are superior to men. A theme of equality, ironically, gives way to the reverse.

What a waste of potential! There were the premises for a great season with great characters such as the young girl protagonist and the crazy nurse, but alas they got so little screen time because the story has to revolve around the ridiculous feud between the Italians (who are ok for the most part) and the black version of "Cosa Nostra" (which is pathetic to say the least). There has never been such a thing as a black family of mobster that tries to emulate the movie Godfather, it's just silly. There of course are black mobster, but their culture has nothing to do with what we see here. And i'm sorry to say this, but Chris Rock is the worst in this role and it is hard to take anything seriously whenever he's in a scene. Worst case of miscast ever. Also his son is such a boring and dumb character that it is almost an insult when you think about who he will become.

Nothing like the first 3 seasons. It maybe an ok TV show on it's own but it isn't definitely Fargo.
