An incredibly well put together show from director Alfonso Cuaron. While slow in the beginning, the show explores incredibly deep and serious themes in an engaging and unique way. Cinematography and soundtrack are vibrant and beautiful, and acting is incredibly well done. Lots of praise to go around for the whole team, especially Cate Blanchett for her incredible role.

I found from the first episode parallels to a movie from the past that Cuaron (copied) his storytelling from. Babe. Remember... the prize pig. The way the story unfolds past to present to families closing out to a pinpoint to end a scene, and along with the voice over. I just couldn't get over that, and waited for Babe to make his entrance in the movie. Kidding aside, but still, was overdone with some scenes and repetitive. Good acting but finicky on how it was presented.

"Disclaimer" (single season, 7 eps, 45+ mins, Apple) falls waaaaay short of expectations due to its snail pacing and uninspired plot lines. The opening scene shows a young, trashy/tacky couple boinking aboard a train but just goes nowhere with them. Despite a partially stellar cast, the series drags on, making it so very difficult to stay engaged. The narrative lacks tension and excitement, resulting in a tedious viewing experience. The characters, though well-acted, fail to evoke empathy or interest, leaving you bored. "Disclaimer" is a missed opportunity, bogged down by its slow pacing and lackluster storytelling, making it a disappointing watch if you're seeking a gripping drama. 20 bonus points for those who make it past the first episode.

Great actors with some good cinematography, but that’s the end of the positives. The storytelling is disjointed and intentionally confusing. Nothing wrong with that as a writer builds up to a conclusion, assuming the writer can put it all together in the end. In this case, they literally take 15 seconds for a character to stare in contemplation and the result is the entire outcome of the story changes. See, Disclaimer has something to teach you, and it’s this: it’s fine to fool your audience as long as you moralize to them in the end. It’s Disclaimer’s responsibility to teach you how biased you are, nevermind that they mislead you in the first place. I can only imagine that the writing room is well stocked with locks of blue hair. I hated it in the 80s when the religious right handed down their corrupt morality, and it’s no better when coming from the left. This icky behavior really needs to find its way out of entertainment.

Don't normally leave reviews but the complexity, wonderful acting, great story line drove me here. Not for popcorn TV show fans, it's more of a high production value show, something you'd get on HBO not NBC so to ****'s been a while since we got a good show. The cast is amazing, even Ali G is spectacular, makes you forget that he did that in the past. Classic British thriller suspense drama at its best!

Disappointing, even by the low bar it sets itself. This ends up a thoroughly forgettable, and embarrassingly overwrought, attempt to relativize adulterous behaviour in an effort to look smart. Some might balk at the pedestrian politics, but no one should be surprised the production plays to the ideological agenda du jour that is toxifiying masculinity.

Cate Blanchett plays a journalist who suddenly finds her marriage and career in jeopardy, when a stranger (Kevin Kline) publishes a novel that parallels a scandalous event in her life. Alfonso Cuarón has written and directed this series, so there's an undeniable gravitas in the presentation with some unique perspectives. It helps to understand that the voiceover is in 3 voices: First person for Kline's character, second person for Blanchett's and third person for everyone else. The performances are dark, as are many of their situations. There are some undeniably powerful moments and the seduction scenes are especially juicy. While there's continual intense foreboding and an art film quality to the production, the series is also slow, self-important and not as shocking or emotionally powerful as it promises.

A strange series indeed. The acting is good, and the cinematography is beautiful, but the plot and its execution are frequently messy. And the plot twist is beyond ludicrous. I get that this was a story about the meaning of truth and how narrative can be manipulative in a bad way, but I think this last thing is what the series transforms into in the end.

A story about the power of self-publishing. But seriously: I had watched "Fleischman is in trouble" before, which is so similar in structure and narrative purpose, that it was apparent this is going to be another twisty revenge story. There is less misdirect here, I like unreliable narrators, and the actors are extraordinary, so I figured I'll appreciate this, but the twist in the end is so over the top, it retrospectively ruined the previous episodes. When a content warning would spoil your twist ending, you might not have found a good way to tell the story...

Pulp fiction ie cheap fiction, paper thin characters, unbelievable actions, reactions and overall silly plot... Plot full of holes, inconsistent and silly. It is strange how actors manage to still make something out of it. As a whole it is frustrating experience to watch it. Time wasted. Readers or viewers sometimes refer to this kind of story as suffering porn or misery fiction, where the emphasis on suffering feels excessive or manipulative, aiming more to provoke a reaction than to advance a meaningful plot. Impressive cast of top actors -- wish they were given a better script. Written after episode 7

Amazingly written and acted. Great series. Kudos to Cuaron and the cast. Music is also amazing. (written before the las episode)

I've watched the first 4 episodes. Perhaps my "score" will change after I have watched the entire series. The female actors and the writing for the female characters is very good. The male characters are a little over the top - not giving the male actors good writing to work with. The male characters and actors seem to be "over-acting". Now part of that is because the portrayals are of writings from a mother and, I guess, are supposed to be that of not good writing... I'm not sure.
