City Of God: The Fight Rages On is a touch confusing to those who didn’t watch the original 2002 film, but has potential to be a tense thriller of a series after the first episode, which introduces us to characters both old and new.

By aging up its characters and only offering a few new teen ones, it’s missing the optimism that comes with youth and instead appears stuck in a middle-aged malaise. Where to go next? How and if to change? “City of God: The Fight Rages On” isn’t sure, but it knows its characters deserve to live, to have their stories told, to grow. And that’s a pretty strong foundation.

I quite enjoyed the 'City of God' sequel series. It picks up the characters from the movie 20 years later and shows how small actions impact an entire community. It has action, drama, and intrigue. A sad reminder of the cancer of political corruption.

This series is disrespectful to the film City Of God, a series set in the 2000s, but with traces of Woke 2024 culture, generic stories, weak characters, and a lot of lameness.

Its opening chapters are occasionally thrilling, but mostly pandering and correcting, trapped in the past instead of pushing forward.

Familiar stuff, especially in a post-Narcos TV landscape, but this time it’s told in tropes, leaving the gritty authenticity of the source material lost in translation.

I It’s just too boring to watch. I decided to stop. This is quite generic. They removed all the things that made the original good and added the obligatory Morden series checklist. It feels like fiction compared to the movie. Gun battles are plenty and pointless. It’s like those Colombian narco series but in Brazil

Terrible waste of time. The movie was amazing. This is exploitative series of people living in slums.
