This is by no means the first Comedy Central show about a guy comedian in Hollywood engaged in convenient pseudo-sketches about the rain clouds hanging over him. But it’s the first one in a long time that feels like it has something real to say.

While watching the show isn’t particularly enjoyable, once drawn into Stevens’ story, it’s also difficult to turn away.

At its best, Brody Stevens: Enjoy It! taunts viewers into wondering if sanity and insanity are both merely artifice, and proves that in the hands of a capable enough performer, they're often indistinguishable from each other. The show is definitely interesting. I'm just not sure how entertaining it actually is.

Brody Stevens is an original. You will either love him or wonder what he is doing on your TV set. I would suggest that the latter have missed the point completely, which in a way, serves to contribute to the persona that Stevens has developed. It wouldn't work as well if everyone 'got it.' It is clear that to avoid the hack drivel of mainstream sitcoms and to achieve something unique and interesting, you must put all of yourself into the writing and production, warts and all, or in this case, breakdowns and mental illness. It is actually quite a brave concept in many ways and fortunately, it works.
