SummaryDealing with life in a studio at NBC's 30 Rockefeller Plaza (the title is a shortening of that), the show centers around Liz Lemon, played by Saturday Night Live's Tina Fey, who's the head writer of The Girlie Show. When her old boss dies and a new boss comes in (Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy), demanding the addition of a volatile former movie sta... Read More

Fey's back to her day job tonight and 30 Rock is as funny as ever, as cynical as we hoped, and as fresh as if it were a freshman show.

Rock manages to layer in quieter scenes between Baldwin and Jack McBrayer's Kenneth the Page that remind you of an iron law of feather-light farce: No matter how crazy the characters seem to us, they have to relate to each other as though they're making perfect sense.

This is the season that made me fall in love with 30 Rock. I think this is probably the show's finest hour. For the most part every episode is hilarious (every sitcom since the beginning of time has never had a perfect season, yes, not even Arrested Development, and certainly not Seinfeld) and the show has such a manic, exciting feel that you just can't help but succumb to it. Man, I could watch "El Generalissimo" on repeat all day (hyperbole, of course).

hands down the best sitcom on tv at the moment, just as good if not better than arrested development .

Tonight's episode does have a few moments when it goes over the comedy top and seems just a tad too broad. But who cares? Overall, it's a joy.

30 Rock is more manic than "Seinfeld," but its smart observations on political correctness, corporate culture and life in Manhattan make it an ideal heir. This Rock continues to roll.

A screwball comedy that's married Fey's responsible and subversive sides and harnessed the power of Alec Baldwin for funny, not fear.

The show's droll and mostly apolitical humor fits the exaggerated characters well, it's still got a good fast rhythm, and the five major players work well as an ensemble.

30 Rock remains merely a good comedy whose shortcomings prevent it from joining the ranks of great ones.

Many people started to complain that the onslaught of guest stars was a deterrent to the show's third season, but I loved all of it. Oprah and Jennifer Aniston were both hilarious, and even though Tina Fey was busy on Saturday Night Live with her killer Sarah Palin impersonation, it didn't affect the the creative perfection on display here.

With the characters established throughout the first two seasons the third, and arguably best, season set out purely to make audiences laugh and it was very rare that it failed to deliver. The antics of the cast and crew of The Girlie show continued to entertain and Liz Lemons relationship woes intensified with numerous guest stars such as John Hamm (Mad Men) and Steve Martin providing her with only short lived hope. Again however it was the scenes between Liz and Jack Donaghy that really made the show in what has become one of the funniest and strangest relationships on television. If you enjoyed seasons one and two you won't be disappointed.

This is the most overrated show on tv. This show is absolutely horrible, it's unfunny and the plots ****. The Office is 1000 times better than 30 Rock could ever be.
