Worldbreaker has the skeletal framework of a great dystopian thriller, but never progresses beyond surface-level worldbuilding. Even so, it effectively captures the resilience of a family that doggedly battles the odds for survival in a world teeming with chaos.

Directed by Brad Anderson, Worldbreaker is committed above all to shortchanging its themes, along with excitement and visual interest, a showy Steadicam shot notwithstanding.

"Worldbreaker" is a mediocre creature feature devoid of curiosity, but just beneath that surface is a vibrant metaphor, waiting for adults to pick it up and point it out.

New monsters, new approach, but in the end feels like any broke B-movie because of the incoherent pacing and lack of real action. And the usual zombie movie stupidity.. a simple scratch or bite is a death sentence but those 'organized fighters' don't have the most basic body armour or tactics. Wood, quilted cotton, leather, chainmail, rubber, rolled magazines, ducttape... Bullets don't stop them ? Shoot the legs, use beartraps, pikes. I don't understand how those people think they can entertain us without knowing anything of the real world.. I see nothing of The Machinist in there.
