It tempers its fairly blunt narrative approach by constantly shifting its perspective. It starts off as the portrait of a troubled child, but expands to become a film about community.

Wonder has an overflowing humanism that extends to less-sympathetic characters.

This movie should be watched by more people honestly, it has been a while since I have seen a movie that shows what it should be, kids learning to respect others and teachers actually working with all the kids, and not pushing their own political agenda, which unpopular opinion, but that's hard to come by.

Wonder does occasionally suffer from kid-movie pitfalls, straining to be cute or mining humor from ridiculously precocious little ones. But mostly it succeeds in telling not one complicated story, but many, and giving the experience of being a confused or lonely or scared youngster the space it deserves.

Giving the film credit where it’s due, Wonder never cheats in its pursuit of emotion. It’s never mawkish or manipulative, and its characters are so well-established both in the writing and in the performances that the movie ultimately does the hard work of earning those damp Kleenexes.

Wonder, through depictions of the burdens shouldered by its characters, through jolting displays of childhood cruelty and heartfelt moments of compassion, earns that reach-for-the-handkerchief.

Wonder will make you cry — that’s one of the main purposes of its existence — but it’ll also drive you a little crazy.

It’s not a bad movie. The story is nice. But the reliance on potty humor really dumbs the story down. It also doesn’t help that despite being a very emotional movie, the characters don’t seem real Rating - 61%

This movie went all over the place. It mainly is an emotionally manipulative drama with a plot about a young man with a facial deformity. The characters were pretty bland and they didn't make me invested in the story. The movie has a great message about bullying, but the message would have been more powerful with better acting. I know people just like Auggie, and I can say the character he is portraying is entirely unrealistic. The movie had forced romance, and tiny bits of unfunny, and bland comedy mixed in. I rate dramas based off how emotional they make me feel, and this film did not accomplish its purpose. I appreciate the movies wonderful and kind message, but it just wasn't for me. With better acting, no forced romance, no cheap dusts of comedy, and more realistic character portrayal, we would have a very decent film on our hands. But instead, we get a pile of mushy drama and forced quotes shoved down our throats.

Bland characters, convoluted and uninteresting plot, cheesy drama and forced romance with side characters.
