Paper Mario: The Origami King
6
User Scorelivelovelaugh22
Jul 28, 2020
Paper Mario: The Origami King is a game I had mediocre hopes for coming in, but still was curious. Sadly the game fell flat like I predicted, yet it was better than expected. First off, very visually appealing game and easily the prettiest Paper Mario game to look at. That goes well with the nice soundtrack. I do think the battle theme is a tad overrated, however it still accomplishes its purpose. The bosses were cool and that is the pros aspect of the game. Look, I like the battle system ring gimmick. But battles have zero purpose whatsoever, therefore they are a waste of time. That seems to be my only big gripe of the game. Overall, an enjoyable game yet it still fails to have the soul and original characters and fun of the first two games in the series. It is worse than Color Splash yet a massive improvement from Sticker Star.

This was a lot better than UFC 3, but still mediocre at absolute best. Pros? The striking feels more fluid than UFC 3, and the hit reaction system made things all the more fun. The judging is fair in this game, unlike UFC 3. There hasn't been any decisions where I felt uncomfortable with the scoring, and there has been some fights that I know damn well would have been a robbery in UFC 3. The commentary is good, and it doesn't get repetitive and annoying. In UFC 3, there have been times where I KO someone with a head kick, but Rogan calls it a beautiful right hook. Thankfully, none of that here. Cons? THE FRIGGEN CHARACTER MODELS!! THEY ****! Every character either looks nothing like the fighter, or plain atrocious. The grappling ****, but nothing different from UFC 3. Career mode isn't bad, but a bit lame. Overall, a pretty average game. Nothing terrible. If you have never owned a UFC game and you only have a PS4 or Xbox One, buy this.

BitLife is a simple, fun, and cute game to play on the go. It is basically just a life text based simulator for iOS. At first, the game didn't have much at all to do, but with constant updates, it has become so much better with so much more variety. But despite it looking somewhat innocent, it has sexual content, alcohol, profanity, and everything else realistic, including severe violence. One of the bad things about this is the time travel mechanic. You can pay a dollar to undo death or go back years for one life. Talk about a ripoff. The game has a few more cash-grabs, but it is free and that makes up for it. Overall, even without paying for a better experience, it is a very fun way to kill 10 minutes. Online, or offline.

Come on guys. The first 3D Mario game! For the time it was made, it was phenomenal. The only fundamental issue was the Lakichu camera situation, but other than that, a great game. It hasn't aged well at all, but that'll happen when you release a game in 1996.

People didn't like this game because it wasn't another TTYD, or another turn based RPG like its predecessors. I loved this game because it was unique, and beautiful. The graphics were great and the gameplay was fun. The game also had a phenomenal story with good writing. The game made me cry. There were a few issues that deterred me from seeing this as the best game in the series, but it is solid. I think the game would have been received better if it wasn't labelled as a Paper Mario game. Excellent game, but a bad Paper Mario game.

Paper Mario: Color Splash

Jun 6, 2020
Paper Mario Color Splash is hated by many, but I kinda liked it. The story wasn't great, but it was a step-up from Sticker Star, that's for sure. Solid, unique and fun gameplay was invented in where you have to restore color to the world, and collect paint stars, and with enough you'll be able to fight Bowser. The game was also very funny, and charming. So much life, and personality was in the game. The battle system was a wee-bit of a step up from SS, but it was pretty much the same. You fight with cards instead of stickers, blah blah blah. B O R I N G. The boss fights were fun, and the levels presented themselves with almost a sort of satisfaction after completion, though they were very easy. Overall, it was a enjoyable and solid game, especially for a console as weak as the Wii U was. Sure, it didn't compare to the God **** Paper Mario TTYD was, but it was good in its own way. Better than SS, 64, and a bit close to the masterpiece SPM was.

Super Mario 3D World is a colorful, fun, and smooth Mario game with beautiful graphics. That doesn't mean the game doesn't have cons, though. The story takes a blow from unoriginality, and I don't like the level design. Like most Mario games, the levels felt like platforms to jump on, and it felt empty, and it didn't feel like it was lived in. Also, I wanted an open world Mario game. One more thing: I want original bosses! All of the bosses except the amazing final boss have been in most Mario games. Overall, a flawed yet great Mario title. I wish this would be remade for the switch.

Oh man. The internet sensation. Fortnite. It is okay, but is also the most overrated game in the world. People drool over this, and millions of people are playing it. It is just an online shoot em' up game, and for free it is fine. But there is no way in God's green earth am I spending hundreds of dollars on skin packs, or V-Bucks. This game was a phenomenal remake to a phenomenal game. Period. M and L SS was the game that started it all. A fun yet clumsy storyline, with funny and sometimes dark characters, fun places to visit, and a fun battle system with unique attacks. Not to mention bosses, and a great soundtrack. Now imagine that, but with much better graphics, much smoother gameplay, and a whole new side game that is honestly great on its own. The only noticeable con is that the game can be way too easy. Other than that, one of the best Mario and Luigi games.

This game had so much bad and not enough good. I will start with the bad. The game is so, so easy. I had no trouble beating it. The game was also stupidly short, too. I beat story mode in 3 hours. Maybe less. The game was easy, short, a bit boring, and lacked motivation to beat it. However, the game has stunning visuals, and smooth, not fun gameplay. Overall, a recycled video game that was overpriced and should be 20 bucks on the 3DS.

Great Mario game for handheld devices, and a steal for 10 bucks. It is so worth it. It is similar to a New Super Mario Bros game, but with more content and is on a portable android, phone, or tablet. The lack of controls is sad, but the game is still fairly hard with perfectly timed jumps. I would see myself paying 20 bucks for this on the switch, or maybe 30. Quality game, and you can stretch 10 bucks far on this one.

This is simply the best Mario game ever, and nothing else comes close to it. Not even my 2nd favorite, Paper Mario TTYD. The graphics are eye candy. The visuals are beautiful, and are designed perfectly. The gameplay is smooth, fun, and challenging. It fits perfect with the beautiful worlds in the game. The soundtrack is great! Not perfect, but very catchy, and sometimes nostalgic. The only thing that is not great is some of the bosses. A bit repetitive and easy. The story is actually pretty okay for a Mario game, and you get a new partner, Cappy. Overall, a phenomenal game, and it is without a doubt the best Mario game. It sprinkles a bit of each successful Mario game in it, and combines it perfectly.

This is truly an outstanding, magical piece of art made into a game. The graphics are beautiful, and look like a cartoon in the 1950's, but with color, and in a beautiful way. The gameplay is smooth, and the game is extremely difficult, with creative, yet awesome bosses, and a solid storyline, that is rather short. The soundtrack is catchy, and jazzy, and got me dancing while fighting bosses. The only con is that the game is almost too difficult. At times, I got stuck, and that was frustrating, saving me from giving this game a perfect score. Overall, it is one hell of a time! (slow clap)

I know it is not finished, but I will judge it for what we have so far. It is a purposely corny and charming surprise we got on Halloween, and so far, I like it. The battle system is solid, the characters are very charming, and the story is kind of lame, following the same path of Undertale, and that got a wee bit old. The soundtrack is good, not on the level of Undertale, but still good. It rightfully is short, and I love the return of Toriel, Undyne, Sans, Alphys, and etc. Also Sans told you he befriended Toriel last night, which was...interesting. Lancer was funny. The puzzles were okay. Susie was awesome, but something was just out of place. I know this was on purpose, but no choices matter. When you boot up the game, you waste 3 minutes building an avatar just for the game to place a middle finger in your face and move on. The games bosses were also lacking, I don't know. It just felt like there was no motivation to complete it. Overall, a cute start to a sequel for Undertale, but I hope it gets better. So far, Undertale is years ahead. It's like if you go to Mexico, get a taco that is fine dining, you love, LOVE it, then you want another taco. You head to Taco Bell, get a taco, and it's good, just not on the same level as the first taco. If the game continues this, it'll end up average.

Wow, what a game this is, and this is the 2nd best or maybe even the best Mario and Luigi game out there. Let's start with the single two cons, and that is the game has a bit of a slow progression rate, and there are a ton of puzzles that require backtracking. Let's get into the almost never ending upsides the game has to offer. The soundtrack is delish. It has epic, intense, and laid back themes that put me in ease. The bosses are quite unique, and I enjoyed beating them. The dream element was so weird, and unique, and there aren't any games like it. The main villain is not Bowser! It is Antasma, a funny and twisted character who partners with Bowser, making for some extra fun. The dream Luigi battles are fun and just the right amount of hard. LUIGI IS THE MAIN CHARACTER! WOO! The combat system is refreshing, with the new Luigi attacks. Overall, a very good game and right up there with Bowser's Inside Story, and is comparable to the God of all Mario games, TTYD. I wish I could do 8.5, but I guess I will stick with 8.

WHAT A TERRIBLE GAME. Let us hop in. We have horrendous voice acting, teenage drama, cringe dialogue, cheesy characters, and major choices that don't matter at all because the original game takes place after this. I felt like I was playing a 13 year old, teenage girl's fanfiction. Rachel Amber was the main character, and she excelled at being annoying, and acting like a rebellious teen, and the Chloe actor was stupid cringy trying to be edgy. The game completely ran out of ideas so most of the second and third episode was filled up with a lame subplot about Sera, Rachel's mother. Not going to spoil it, but the story felt like a bunch of cringe and bad ideas and stupidity mushed into a game. Very cheesy and corny, and not in a good way, like the original game. Overall, this is a pile of hot garbage and is not comparable to either of the Life Is Strange games, and is barely comparable to Captain Spirit, which means your game ****. This earns my first zero rating.

I will review this pile OF ABSOLUTE BULLSH- I guess I need to calm down. Let's start. The game has some of the worst controls of the decade. It took me 12 minutes to do something that should take 3 minutes if it had proper controls. The game froze on me several times. There are situations that make zero sense. Your dumb kid Jason was about to get run over by a car, but you, Ethan, jumped in front of the car before the car hit Jason, and Jason died and Ethan left without a scratch. The voice acting was bad, but not that bad, and the music was relaxing, as well as the rain drops. The story **** balls, and so did the 17 endings, where most of them weren't even that different. The 'remastered' graphics were **** Overall, a tedious grinding and unsatisfying game I only played so I could be allowed to review it.

I am a fan of this game, and it is way better than UFC 3. The game has a lackluster grappling system, and stand up isn't too incredible, but I loved it because striking in this game was a lot of fun. Not the most technical, but it's the fun that counts. I remember playing with my family and we were brawling! We had some laughs out of it. Career mode feels realistic, and like you are actually training. The game makes you do drills and virtual fight camps, unlike UFC 3, where you click a single button to train. It was very glitchy, however. And the KO animations ****. Overall, a sloppy, sort of lazy game that is very fun in tons of ways. If you are a technician and are here to heavily judge it, the games not going to be your type. If you are open minded, and don't expect a perfect masterpiece and you just want some fun, this is for you. I am a bit in between, but still I like this game for what it is. Good, but not great.

The story is average, gameplay average, soundtrack was OK, and the characters and boss fights were boring. They used the same environments from previous games, and they stole more than they gave. The dialogue is sometimes humorous, but that is few and far between. They had so many things they could mash up with the M&L series + Paper Mario, but they failed to capitalize. I came across the store and picked the game up because, well, I don't even know why. When I was done playing it, I was confused. VERY confused. It was a very pointless game. You basically go into your neighbor's house, and look for a key to his basement to find some dirty secrets he is hiding. That's it, the whole story. I mean, I won't be a complete bummer. It was kind of fun. The music is suspenseful. But when you look down on it, it's a pile of nothingness that should have stayed on the PC, and should have never ported to Nintendo's biggest console. Undertale is a truly fascinating game, adventure, and experience. The story is deep, sad, and it really gets you involved, and it made me cry like a baby. The morality system works amazing, and the soundtrack is the best any game has to offer. The characters have charm and character, and personality, and it doesn't feel like they are made by a computer. The graphics say otherwise, though. They ****! And the gameplay is a tad bit lacking, but the bullet hell battle system was alright. Alright, here we go. This is the worst Paper Mario game, and it doesn't even deserve to be called Paper Mario. This game was a train wreck, and I'll tell you why. Now Mario games aren't really known for their story, but this made me want to puke. ANOTHER BORING BOWSER TAKES PEACH CLICHE' It isn't even just boring, now just b l e h. Also, you have to collect these Comet pieces across the world to save Peach. Woohoo. If the gameplay was good, it might make up for it. Sadly, it was so bad we didn't even level up. We collect coins in which we use for stickers, which we attack enemies with. That's okay, but if you go into an actual battle you will find yourself playing a tedious, grinding turn taking RPG with no personality. The puzzles in this game had you backtracking, and it was confusing. The game was difficult, and not in the way you would like. The ending was very basic. Other than Toads whom had no personality, we had no characters other than Mario, Peach, and Bowser. Your sidekick, Kertsi, was an annoyance more than a help. The only actual enjoyment I had playing this game other than getting done with it so I could review it was the jazzy soundtrack. It was alright. I dug it. If you enjoy frustrating, energy grinding, zero charm, zero story, and zero personality games with the dumbest combat system imaginable, this one is a hit. This is a simply beautiful and breath-taking 'game'. And even though it is incredible, like every game, it is not perfect. Let's start with the good. The artwork for this game is simply awesome, and realistic. The story is way, WAY more than teenage drama, and corny sci-fi time traveling. The story is deep, serious, and gets you hooked. The characters are made well, and have lots of personality, and the acting has tremendously improved. And though the game slips a bit with this, they have stopped cringe-worthy dialogue. Choices actually matter! We have 4 amazingly different endings that felt natural to the heart pounding choices you made. We also need a bit of cons. This is a road travel game, so each episode you find yourself in a different location. As soon as you get hooked with characters from one episode, the next one they are gone, with only a letter to update you on them. Also, I hated the constant political references. When I got numb to the offensive remarks, it just got annoying. Also, the demeaning religion references were offending to me. The guy tries to make white people the bad guys, and I found that stereo type rude, un-called for, and annoying. Overall, a great game that would be near perfect without the political and religious crap the game shoves into your face. Solid B+

Life Is Strange falls in between of OK, and bad. The story of the game is corny and fun, and sometimes emotional. It's a solid adventure, and I had some fun with it. But, the voice acting is inconsistent. Sometimes it may be bearable, or absolutely horrendous. The lip syncing is trash, and don't even get me started on the dialogue... sheesh. I am trying not to spoil much here, in fact, as little as I can, but the time rewinding powers make zero sense. Also, the game has only 2 endings, so choices never matter in the long run. You could make completely different choices than you did the first time you played and get the same ending. Overall, it's a below average game that with just a few tweaks could be great. I wanted a 6.7 out of 10, but I'll go with 6. Mediocre at best.
