Tucker is the best Capra movie since Capra quit making them himself. [12 Aug 1988]

Mr. Coppola has done things this fancily before, but never with so clear and moving a sense of purpose.

An excellent Coppola film and maybe the best film about the car industry. Bridges is great.

Despite is not the best from the mastermind of The Godfather and Apocalypse now, it´s a good effort for showing how far can go a man for fulfill a dream, particularly Preston Tucker and his dream for design the ultimate american car. Either, is not one of best roles of Jeff Bridges but is a good escapism for a any evening.

This happy daydream contains Coppola's most assured work since "Apocalypse Now;" save for its modesty, it is in no way inferior to his masterpiece, "The Godfather" Saga. [12 Aug 1988]

Francis Coppola's stylish and heartfelt tribute to the innovative automobile designer Preston Thomas Tucker turns out to be one of his most personal and successful movies.

What could be a needed and satisfying commercial breakthrough for Coppola.

Coppola's new film is not so much about the car as about the man, and it is with the man that he fails to deliver.

Tucker came up with a classic, but poor Coppola has turned a great American tragedy into a gas-guzzling human comedy

The worst film of F. F. Coppola I have seen in years ! Too many useless details; too many inappropriate laughs by everyone in wrong moments; very often it looks like a musical (without the music needed) in various film shootings. To end: A wasted cast of usually good professionals. That said, the poor Mr. Tucker (in Coppola's version) seems "a fool on the hill" more than a visionary inventor. Really sorry but Mr. Coppola did not get the "soul" of the Genius in the real Mr.Tucker, at all!
