A clever and big- hearted gay screwball comedy.

First-time feature director Rashid has made a piece of eye candy that's irresistible. The point of this film may be to embrace reality, but frankly, who needs it?

A film that turns a comedic eye on the cultural, sexual and generational gaps that divide families and lovers and just generally make life the tricky mess it so often is.

What makes the film so much fun is an ingenious plot device embedded in Rashid's sharply observed screenplay.

Whatever your orientation, these bosom buddies are bound to charm you, and perhaps by joining them, the very talented MacLachlan may continue to find work.

It's formulaic but still fun, thanks to the quick and genial players.

To MacLachlan's credit, his impersonation of the indomitable is serviceable, although it must be said that the role is weirder than anything David Lynch ever dreamed up for him.

Rashid's love of cinema is obvious in every frame. He interweaves nostalgia with modern subject matter. Pace and comic timing are perfect.
