The People vs. George Lucas

An open- and-shut case, but that doesn't mean it can't also be an entertaining one.

You don't have to be a "Star Wars" nut to enjoy this fast-paced film, though it's sure to resonate most with those whose childhoods - and beyond - were shaped by the 1977 phenomenon.

Viewers will find its emotional arc obvious and familiar, although the summoning of those emotions is where the movie derives its power.

Nonetheless, if you're a Force completist, this is as crucial as a bootleg of 1978's "Star Wars Holiday Special." Which, by the way, was awesome.

Frenetic, paper-thin but entertaining documentary.

It's an exhausting airing of nerd grievances, the monolithic arguments leavened only slightly by counterpoints seemingly inserted for comic relief.

Once this cultural exploration devolves into just a forum for grating geek griping and Jar-Jar Binks hatred, however, you'll wish you could escape to a galaxy far, far away.

The People vs George Lucas is an uninteresting documentary about George Lucas' treatment of Star Wars. He fiddles with the old movies and changes them, refuses to re-release the original versions and is thus a bit of a hypocrite on the subject of preserving film. Oh... And his prequels ****. I think I've touched on pretty much every point this film makes right there in a few sentences. I just saved you an hour and a half of Stars Wars fans ranting to camera. You're welcome.

It shows an okay example of what Lucas has to go through but hey lets just put it this way, why care? It's Lucas's problem not anybody elses. This film was mostly unnecessary but it did let me release my hatrid for Mr. Lucas.

Absolute drivel of a film, not of any value to a legitimate fan of George Lucas as an artist. It was clearly created by people that believe they know what Star Wars is better than the creator. Do not watch this schlock. The absolute travesty that is the corporate sequels are worth more than this if only to understand how far the Star Wars series fell.
