SummaryThe Mystery of D.B. Cooper brings to life the stories of four individuals fervently believed by their family and friends to be “D.B. Cooper,” the mystery man who hijacked a 727 flying out of Seattle, traded the passengers’ lives for $200,000 and four parachutes, lept from the jet over some of Washington state’s roughest terrain, and was never hea... A documentary that couldn't fail to entertain.

As much as this gripping documentary is about the mysterious DB Cooper, it is about human nature, too. These brilliant characters, some deeply entangled in the story, some distant from it but connected, are believers. This film asks what keeps them believing, and it is a far bigger question than the mystery itself.

It’s even more fun digging into the tales on-screen if you’re familiar with the pop culture appropriation.

What Dower is interested in here isn't the hijacking itself or even how it has gone unresolved for decades, but rather the nature of the D.B. Cooper obsession.

By turning this narrative into a search for an identification that seems increasingly unlikely to ever happen, Dower loses focus, and we become just as lost as the hundreds of people convinced they know what happened to D.B. Cooper.

Dower, like so many of the obsessives he interviews here, grows too enthralled by the “who” of it all to stay on mission and meaningfully explore why it still resonates.

Very interesting doc on a very mysterious case. The film goes through the story of the hijacking with a lot of new info that I did not know, with plenty of interviews from people who were on the plane that day, who actually, saw and talked, to D.B Cooper. I also really like how it goes into 5 different suspects, in which you may end up thinking any/or all of them may have done it. There is some humor there as well, and the viewer can decide for themselves who they think may have done it. For anyone remotely interested in this **** will likely enjoy the film.

The mystery is by far more interesting than what the documentary explores. It was kinda underwhelming.
