The Hunt is much more entertaining than its controversy suggested. It starts from a brutal and very direct idea: a group of people wake up in the middle of nowhere and discover that someone has placed them there to be hunted. From there, the film mixes action, horror, black comedy, gore and political satire with very little subtlety, but also with a lot of pace. It does not try to be elegant. It tries to shoot, provoke and laugh at **** best thing is Betty Gilpin. Her Crystal is one of those characters who almost enters the film sideways and ends up taking over everything. She has a very strange way of looking, speaking and moving, as if she is always understanding something the others cannot see. She is dry, unpredictable, dangerous and very funny without needing to underline it. The film would be far less special without her. Gilpin turns what could have been a simple survival heroine into someone memorable.Hilary Swank also works very well, especially because the film understands the pleasure of putting two actresses with real presence against each other. Her character represents the other side of the farce: the elite convinced of its own moral superiority, just as ridiculous and violent as the people it claims to despise. And that is part of what makes The Hunt enjoyable: it hardly spares anyone. It mocks conspiracy-minded conservatives, snobbish liberals, prefabricated speeches, cultural paranoia and the very modern habit of turning everything into a war between **** social criticism, it may not be especially deep. The film has more bite as exploitation than as political analysis. But that is not necessarily a flaw, because its energy lies precisely in the wildness, exaggeration and discomfort. It is not looking for delicate nuance, but for pushing caricatures into direct collision. Sometimes it is too obvious, yes, but it is also aware of its own **** action works, the deaths have bite and the black-comedy tone keeps the film alive even when the satire becomes a little broad. There are very effective scenes, well-handled shifts in rhythm and a constant sense that anyone can disappear at any moment. That lack of respect for its own characters gives it freshness and makes the opening especially **** Hunt is not perfect. Its political commentary can feel limited, some ideas are thrown out better than they are developed, and at times it seems more interested in impact than reflection. But as a genre film, it is very enjoyable. Violent, fast, nasty and carried by a terrific Betty Gilpin. One of those films that does not need to be perfect to leave you feeling that you had a very good time.

The Hunt was good. I enjoyed seeing Emma Roberts on screen again, even if only briefly. The gore was intense, which I appreciated. The themes explored were important and ironic within the context of the film. I wouldn’t classify it strictly as horror, but more as action with strong psychological thriller elements. I would recommend this movie.

A better than average film with some comedic scenes and some genuine laughs. Some bizarre acting, but it adds to the weirdness of the e film. Ultimately though, it’s been done before, and doesn’t really add anything. I’d probably watch it again if I was bored!

I can tell solely based on the reviews for this film who voted for Trump (6-10), vs who voted for Harris (0-5).

Girlboss done right. Funny and quirky, The Hunt is a solid popcorn movie with some cool plot twists and a very satisfying ending.

There are obvious comparisons here with The Purge (2013). I enjoyed it way more than I was expecting but it still wasn’t perfect by a long shot. The story had so many moments where I couldn’t predict what was happening and I loved it, for example you don’t realise who the lead character is until surprisingly far into the film. I did love the lead character, who was very charismatic and interesting. I honestly didn’t understand the morals or the message but I didn’t care. Maybe it didn’t have any but it certainly felt like it was trying to say something. The final fight goes on a bit too long and degrades into farce more than the rest of the film. Would I watch it again? Probably not. Would I recommend it? Probably. The less you know before watching, the better.

A solid 7/10 worth the watch. I had to put up a review after I saw all the zero's it's not a zero. If you want to you can make a case for most things being say a '4' but it's quite difficult to find an actual '1' or a '0'

Now we are talking, I missed this one a while back and decided to watch it, this is an absolutely fantastic R-rated movie, mixing satire, realism, and just overall entertaining action. Though this movie has problems, not so big that it makes the movie bad in any way. First is the length a lot of films these days are really skimping on the length. I get it needs to be a quick flick, short and sweet, but with a film of this nature, it is very unique. The second problem is related to length because there are not that many badass scenes with the main character. What I call Macgyver moments, with gore and John Wickness. Other than that every scene is satisfying making good use of situations, and explaining what's going on from the introduction of the film to the end...mostly. Ok, why do I say mostly, it's because of the dialogue. In most parts, it's good in others(eg. The very end) it's a little cringe. As for the main character, I like this character, she's not a Marie Sue, she is fun, violent, and sometimes relatable and inexpressive for the purpose of this film, it matches so well, with the writing, the supporting characters, and the scene to scene logic. Sometimes saying nothing is saying a lot, and I like that. A movie like this really shows that you don't need to push an agenda to have a great female character, in fact, this character is up there with my top favourites. 8/10, This is probably going to be an underrated film lost in film history, and that saddens me because I want more. How does a Film like "Murder Mystery" on Netflix get 2 movies, when this just gets one, this is peculiar, Universal should look into a sequel Immediately. Just give it a little bit more length, and suffering, Play with some scenes, make the audience relate to the character even more, keep the writing solid and trust me we got a banger R-Rated, Action, Thriller, Horror, with some satire.

Let's get it going here folks. This movie was precovid and pre SJW campaigns and it's a pretty good satire of the political and cultural divide. Don't overthink it. Both progressives and conservatives hate it. Everyone else will think it's a solid 7.

For anyone who is tired of the woke Hollywood productions of the last decade, this movie is a breath of fresh air and a satisfying must-see. For once, we get a movie that is actually anti-woke, and I LOVED it.

I expected a decent movie potentially ruined by politics, but I was wrong. It's a genuinely shocking and enjoyable movie from start to finish and I have little to no complaints. I highly recommend it.

This movie was very educational and I'd like to pass along what I've learned to other readers: Anything that features Emma Roberts is guaranteed to be absolute crap. Remember this. Thank you.

You know what? This movie was way more entertaining than I expected it to be. A lot of these negative reviews are from people whose nerve got struck, and it's even more funny due to the fact that the movie never really commits to a political narrative, it's not a trying to be political commentary despite using politicized jokes. It's actually impressive at how well it dodges through any sort of fidelity to a position. Movie itself has great action, gratuitous violence and is sprinkled with self deprecating humor throughout. It's witty on occasion and the nice pace keeps you watching. Actors did a good job, writing is decent, scenes are generally well done. What more can one ask? It's a fun little movie and you should probably watch it and take it easy.

Interesting if unoriginal 'battle royale' esque plot that tries to shoehorn action, comedy and satire into one picture. Sadly it's a swing and a miss with some distracting 'mouth acting' from gilpin, below par visual effects and generally bad pacing and screenplay. This could've been an awesome horror or comedy if they had leaned harder into the genre and so what was produced ultimately feels out of sync with its own logic. I suppose it could be recommended if you're a fan of action thrillers as it does a fair job of throwing the violence at you from start to finish.

The tagline for the movie: "The most talked about movie of the year is one that no one's actually seen" And yet, a year later, nobody is talking about it besides me. Betty Gilpin is good though.

Great film. Very clever. Loved the dialogue. I am surprised it is not rated higher. In these times of repetitive films I found it interesting and fun.

Plot: 6/10...super ridiculous, but super fun Dialogue: 7/10...love the use of tropes, both liberal and conservative, and could easily become quotable Performances: 6/10...nobody was supposed to be serious and for the most part the characters hit their outrageous marks. Gilpin was phenomenal with facial expressions and delivery Misc.: 6/10...actually some pretty good special effects and fight scenes. Overall: 6/10...intended to be exactly what it was. Absurd and an absolute blast.

This movie does not deserve an oscar by any stretch of the imagination. The plot is old and done to death. But seeing Betty Gilpin kicking ass, and the continuous action makes this a good movie to stay entertained on an idle Tuesday afternoon. Definitely worth a watch if you are a fan of action.

Pretty political, and a good, dark humorous reflection of the current society, although as a film, it doesn't really prove much of a worth for the future.

Фильм очень поучительный. Он объясняет что защищать себя и свою собственность главный закон природы и права и обязанность гражданина. И что каждый должен защищать себя если на него нападают. Зуб за зуб. Глаз за глаз.

I liked the movie's idea, even tho as some moments felt a bit low budget moments, but overall it is great satiric commentary on what is happening now in our world and great commentary about both sides of all the people found in the internet etc.

Excellent. You have an idea of what is going to happen but not how. I was constantly surprised. Yes, it is not politically correct but I do buy into the characters. Saw the Old Guard at about the same time. This doesn't have the big stars, the cinematography, the convoluted plot... but it was so much more enjoyable. Yes, the plot was implausible but with just enough possiblity to keep it going. Ignore the bad reviews, they took the subtext of politics too seriously.

The plot, tone and underlining subtext was a little too on the nose for me to really enjoy this move during this time of heighten sensitivity. My score here ultimately reflects the movie holding a mirror up to the current vitriol that is going on around us and amps it up to a point I’m not all to sure is far off from happening. They did a great job in all aspects of creating, capturing and completing this narrative. I’m shocked how they managed to keep a taught story moving and have every twist and turn stay fresh and interesting. I think that the actors that they cast were perfect for keeping people off balance as to if we should take this seriously or not. My biggest praise is it doesn’t over stay it’s welcome and I kinda wish it had a longer run time. I feel like some of the “hunt” sequences could have been longer. All in all I can’t say I had a “good time” watching this, but I would definitely recommend it to people beyond the horror/slasher genre for a view. It had such a unique perspective that highlights the divide between “us” and “them,” the right and the left without sparing anyone’s feeling.

I was at first puzzled at the plot of this movie. I have seen Surviving the game and Hard Target but they kept the plot being "rich people hunting poor people for sport". Politics was not at the forefront like this movie. Having skepticism I decided to watch anyway and I really enjoyed this movie. It's satire and they make fun of both sides. They portray all of theses characters, except for the hero, as pretty ridiculous people. I am ok with satire and that is why this movie was enjoyable. Not to mention Betty Gilpin was amazing. She is my new favorite character in a movie in probably the last 10 years. So if politics is what's keeping you from watching this movie, I really don't think you should avoid it just for that. It's not what it was rumored to be and is loads of fun.

I was not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. Reminds me of Hostel, Saw and Hunger Games... but knock off Tarantino style like death proof. Gory and cheesy as hell but very good, give it a shot

The movie has many twists and turns. With comedic bits I would say it is more of a comedy than actually being scary. If you don't like hearing about politics you probably shouldn't watch as it is mainly a war of the right vs left.

I couldn't get past the "global warming is real" insult around the 10-15 minute mark, and this is coming from a Trump supporter. This movie is way too on the nose for my tastes, and I wasn't ready going in that this would be a B-Movie gore fest. I'll give it another attempt later, its just that my dad was trying to compare this film to recent events going on and I'm looking at him like "bruh, I know CHAZ was a joke, but c'mon..." If you're interested in "Crappy Politics on Twitter: the Movie", then you'll probably have a blast watching this. Its really funny and the closest depiction of what an internet flame war would look like when taken to its logical extreme, lol

The Hunt is a movie that shows just how ridiculous the world has become. But not because of the killing of people, but how sensitive moral standards have become. Say one thing as a joke, and it can be taken completely out of context. And thus the ridiculous killing begins. The movie makes fun of clichés as it pretends to have at least three protagonists, right before each gets horribly murdered. The movie is funny, and i like how it gives the middle finger to cancel culture and overly sensitive morals. But apart from that, i can't say that the movie is entertaining enough to be called good. I give it a 6/10. It is a passable movie.
