SummaryThe great Hollywood swashbuckler and the very definition of classic Technicolor design. Warners has used digital technology to perfectly register Robin Hood's original Technicolor negatives, restoring its vibrant color: the reddest reds, the bluest blues, and of course, the greenest greens. Made with sublime innocence and breathtaking artistry, at a time when its simple values rang true.

Robin Hood is movie pageantry at its best, done in the grand manner of silent spectacles, brimming over with the sort of primitive energy that drew people to the movies in the first place.

1938's ''The Adventures of Robin Hood'' is after almost 80 years of possible improvement, still the very best Robin Hood film, in fact it is one of the greatest films of all time. Is the acting campy? Yes, most certainly but so is the acting in King Kong (1933) and The Wizard of Oz (1939) and those 2 are also considered some of the greatest movies of all time. The campy acting is in my eyes certainly not a flaw, i think the campy acting we had in old movies is only a good thing, it reminds us of how innocent and unexperienced Hollywood was back in the day, and i think that's a beautiful thing that should be treasured. Aside from the hammy acting, i personally think it's a flawless film, the script is perfect, simple, exciting and emotional, the art direction is top notch, so are the costumes, and music is supportive and beautiful, the stunts and choreography is spot on, the set pieces are enthralling, so are the fun characters, and the pacing is fast to keep the movie going. (especially for a movie that's almost 80 years old, this is one of the most modern, old movies i've ever seen) The innocence of The Adventures of Robin Hood is delightful, this really is a timeless movie for all ages, kids of today could easily enjoy a movie like this too, and not fall asleep. The Adventures of Robin Hood is such a fresh, fast-paced exciting film, it really is something special. Say what you want about The Adventures of Robin Hood and how campy it may be. In my eyes it's one of the best movies of all time.

Poor, silly RogerW. This is not the Robin Hood directed by Ridley Scott, this is the classic and stellar Robin Hood directed by Curtiz. Sometimes I truly wonder if anything this generation is a significant contribution to cinema, or if t he vast majority of films are mass produced piles of crap. Classic films like this might not be as whiz bang as the current releases, but it seems the the budget and focus could go into the actors and the scripts.

Only a spirited and extravagant production could do justice to the Robin Hood legend; this film is more than equal to the task. Korngold's score won a well-deserved Oscar, as did the editing and art direction.

Film is done in the grand manner of silent-day spectacles with sweep and breadth of action, swordplay and hand-to-hand battles between Norman and Saxon barons.

Is it a silly movie? At times, yes. Is it creaky and blatant and obvious? Quite often, absolutely. But should you miss it in this splendidly colorful restoration? Not on your life.

From the director that brought us Casablanca, comes this classic that has aged, but is still so well executed that it still deserves a place on the list of "Best movies ever made".

This film tells the story of Robin Hood, one of the most popular heroes of adventures of all time, an immortal symbol of the struggle for justice and freedom. Directed by Michael Curtiz and William Keighley, the film has a screenplay by Norman Reilly Raine and Seton I. Miller, and stars Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland. Its one of the most popular films of the career of these two actors, who have co on several occasions. In fact, watching the career of one of them means, invariably, observe the colleague. Flynn is one of biggest heartthrobs of classic cinema while Olivia is the eternal damsel in distress. The almost ideal way both collaborate is perhaps one of the reasons why the films they made are still very alive in people's memory, decades after they left the big screen. The script, slightly inspired by the stories about this legendary character, is very imaginative and it fits in we usually find in swashbuckling. The cast was up to the challenge and shone with precise and accurate performances. The theatricality of gestures and speeches, like the idealized and romantic scenarios, helped the charm of the film, with little historical accuracy but with great visual effect. That was the old cinema. One way to make cinema that has passed, but that got us pearls that we still enjoy today.

I'm surprised by how charming Errol Flynn is after all of these years, although he is annoyingly cocky. In terms of a boner scale, I'd rank him as my second favorite Robin Hood. 4. Kevin Costner 3. Russell Crowe 2. Errol Flynn 1. Handsome, furry Disney fox Also, this movie hasn't aged too well, which is great. It's so damn corny! These costumes are so historically inaccurate (I've never seen so much velvet!,) it's more fun to watch this as if this is some other planet and this is their version of medieval times.
