Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour

It is profoundly moving to see someone be so open with her audience, the meaning of her lyrics taking on new resonance since first writing them. And we were there, we remember it all.

The film gives the audience a front-row seat and a pretty good approximation of what it was like to be there in the thick of it.

What a concert it is — and what an experience it makes, even in the relatively modest confines of a movie theater.

You don’t need to be a Swiftie to admire the astonishing staging, endless creativity, and the spectacle of an artist giving her all.

At its best, the Eras Tour film manages to capture the why of that bond, the shock of her vast stardom against the startling emotional clarity of her songwriting. The Eras tour, she says, has been the most special experience of her life; in this deft rendering, it’s easy to feel the intoxication of being in her temple.

It is massive, but nothing could exactly recreate the decibel-bursting exhilaration of a live music performance, particularly one at this scale. But in this format, Swift gets as close as possible — and for her, being an exception to the rule is par for the course.

It’s a shame that the shots here are all over the place — the stage, the sky, too close, too far, too kinetic; only occasionally, in medium close-ups, just right. The director is Sam Wrench, and it’s unclear whether he’s making a movie or a salad. Under the circumstances, he’s done the best he probably could.

É inegável o talento da moça em fazer letras fáceis, de refrão pegajoso, e que dialogam com a superficialidade e conexão esperada pelo seu público. É inegável, também, a alta qualidade da captura de imagens, o que faz esse show ser realmente acima da média em termos visuais. Mas não deixa de ser isso: apenas um show musical de uma cantora pop. Que me desculpem os fãs, mas Taylor não me convenceu em sua genialidade, e por mais que em uma de suas falas ela fale sobre um reportório fora dos padrões da indústria musical, não foi isso que ela entregou, ao contrário, estamos diante de um legítimo produto de massa, com arranjos exatamente precisos, dançantes, enquadrados como manda o figurino. Não é que seja ruim, ao contrário, tem momentos super empolgantes, destacaria a era "Reputation", "1989" e "red", que visualmente também ficaram acima da média. O show então nada mais é do que um compilado na carreira dela, e consegue entregar tudo aquilo que os fãs esperam. Aliás, a cantora é tão carismática que fica difícil não gostar, e também tem uma performance enérgica, digna de todos os méritos. Como cinema, é apenas ok, acho que faria mais sentido o reconhecimento na categoria de música mesmo, é até estranho ainda vir com selo de recomendação da metacritics, mostrando que Taylor está muito bem ambientada com a indústria sim.
