The meat of Suburbicon is certainly Grade-A, but no expense has been spared on the trimmings either. Even the briefest supporting players are fully formed and often quite memorable.

Suburbicon, directed by George Clooney, grafts two distinctly different types of genres: the socially conscious race relations movie and grisly film noir. It’s an uneasy combo made even more so by the fact that the film noir stuff has all the juices.

An excellent film about how the Greatest Generation were frauds in many ways. A new generation must crawl out from their dark, violent shadow, and feel the sun for themselves. The oppressors must die for a movement of peace and justice to begin. This movie gets it. Audiences and Critics missed this one big time!! The bizarre disconnected aspects of the film led to the sense of overall dread, that you can't trust authority figures, or most adults. The idea that this movie doesn't come to any real conclusions, or have anything clear to say, is proof that what it is saying is difficult for those who are immersed in the capitalist, greatest generation propaganda of the past. They can't see it. They can't hear it. A great adult drama.

………………………………………………………………………. A relentless demolition of the American dream Abstract: ………………………………………………………………… Review: Suburbicon is a new, low-rise, garden neighborhood from the late 1950s in the US where a certain urban middle class has moved in search of its touted tranquility and security. Little Nicky Lodge (Noah Jupe, the notable actor from A Quiet Place and The Undoing) lives there with his parents Rose and Gardner (Julianne Moore and Matt Damon). After an African-American family moves into the house next to hers, an unexpected series of family incidents begins. When in the final titles one reads that the co-writers of this George Clooney film are him and the Cohen brothers, one says “ah, of course!”). After the prologue with the new black neighbors moving, the film focuses on the Lodge family and an incident they suffer shortly after, setting in motion a typical Cohen thriller, with characters making bad decisions, outbursts of humor fierce, despicable characters and the sinister and violence taking over everything. The film initially recreates the aesthetics and tone of the melodrama of the 50s and then darkens and darkens the story, supported by Alexander Desplat's great “vintage” soundtrack, the performances, which give the right tone and **** touches. A sort of counterpart to Far from Paradise by Todd Haynes (reinforced by the presence in both of Julianne Moore). With this remarkable drama (whose title Suburbicon probably alludes to Lovecraft's Necronomicon), sliding into thriller with hints of black comedy, George Clooney proceeds to a relentless and at times bizarre demolition of the American dream and family, transforming them into a nightmare. ……………………………………………………………………….

The pleasures of Suburbicon are in the moment, and the moments fade before the next moment. There’s no build, just flashes of virtuosity — flashes ultimately in the service of nothing.

Suburbicon is just too obvious in its satirical depiction of the dubious morality and social inequality behind the squeaky-clean façade of postwar American life, though it's watchable enough, and a distinct improvement for Clooney on his last directorial outing.

In filtering a ripped-from-the-headlines story through the prism of satire, Suburbicon winds up squandering much of its power. For all that the movie borrows from history, it conveys little in the way of truth.

It makes a run at cleverness, trying to be a dark screwball commentary on America’s race problem. But instead it’s just a spectacular flop.

Suburbicon is not only unfunny, a bad sign for a black comedy, but deep-dyed dislikable.

Some viewers seems to need to see a perfect path of cinematographic genre to maintain an equilibrium...! This movie is good. It isn't perfect, maybe, but it opens possibilities. Actors are amazingly interesting of course sometimes **** it is a Cohen,s brothers movie! What would you expect less? It is good for the brain to be disturbed in a good way. Bad people aren't who you expect.

Strong performances by Julianne Moore & Matt Damon saved this film from it's otherwise weak and not so creative plot. Not the first picture we've seen with this sort of story line, and I'm sure it won't be the last either!

Despite a rather entertaining and fun third act, great set designs and visuals and great acting performances by the main cast, this satire on suburbs lifestyle still fell short. The story was a mess, the movie was predictable and most of the movie was quite boring. If you like good crime drama movies, I'd suggest you watching something else.

Suburbicon at first seems excellent black satire over the American way of life 50-60 years. Here and giving of a plot is not bad, and cast. But all the rest is made just disgustingly. Situations are too not realistic, all emotions and feelings are built in the absolute. Perhaps such approach will be pleasant to someone, but after viewing of the movie nothing remains at the viewer. Any work of art has to bear sense. Unfortunately it not about Suburbicon.

Clooney's Drama written by Coen brothers seem to be a blend of awkward humor and bizzare emotions. With racial elements serving the main crook job story line, the drama feels unbalanced and counter-intuitive at certain points, leaving the audience thinking,"are those people just stupid?". Coen tries to pull **** story potentially addressing the current political climate, but fails miserably to do so.
