The Little Shop of Horrors is a thoroughly original adaptation, if that's possible. With its toe-tapping cadences, its class cast and its king-sized cabbage, it's destined to become a classic of camp comedy. It's vege-magic.

This musical about a plant that craves blood has a smart and snappy score -- and Steve Martin in a hilarious bit as a dentist who gives himself laughing gas as he treats his unanesthetized patients. [23 Dec 1986, p.1]

Great Funny Movie. Even My Dad Loved It. The Story is easy to Follow, Great Characters, Catchy Music, and a great villian. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

This is the kind of charming motion picture that can be viewed repeatedly without ever wearing out its welcome. With several triumphant musical numbers, an original villain, a smart and witty script, a cute romance, and a new, upbeat ending, this Little Shop of Horrors offers countless delights during its 94-minute running time.

Rick Moranis is properly nerdish as the flower-shop attendant who keeps his carnivorous charge supplied with a steady stream of human plasma, and Ellen Greene makes a good scatterbrained innocent in the ersatz Broadway mold, but the best moments in this 1987 release belong to Dr. Steve Martin as a dentist with a professional yen for pain.

Although an impressive technical achievement, the film itself is a rather overblown and overhyped affair--which, for all its expensive excess, fails to recapture the spirit of the original.

Little Shop of Horrors is a fractured, funny production transported rather reluctantly from the stage to the screen.

Some of the slower tunes tend to grind but the sort of musical/ retro irony is still amusing in places. Not if you don't like dentists though.

This movie is amusing from start to finish. The songs are unbelievably catchy! The characters are hilarious and the story line is just funny really. As a lover of musicals this is definitely a light hearted one with a slightly dark twist that you can enjoy. It is definitely unique! I also love Rick Moranis, Steve Martin and Ellen Greene in their roles, they are perfect!

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is pure joy! The direction, the set design, the actors, the cinematography, the effects and puppetry, the songs, everything just works perfectly! So much talent! This has to be one of my favorite musicals of all time, right next to THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE ****, and please, watch the Director's Cut, it's amazing!

A classic.
It's a Musical-Horror-Comedy, if you liked Rocky Horror Picture Show you'll like this too.
It's an homage to classic old time sci-fi movie of 50's ...with big, scary (and a little cheap) monsters.
Audrey is a classic Horror - Sci-fi Icon.
I watched it ages ago and again in 2022...well it is still good today.

The sets and plants were amazing. It’s mostly really beautifully shot. The music was annoyingly catchy. The alternate ending would have been so much better. It started so well grabbing my attention and getting me dancing but there were some really boring bits. It feels like it would have been better as a stage show but still fun.

"Little Shop of Horrors" isn't horrifying at all. It's just irritating. Audrey's voice is so damn annoying that I honestly wanted to cover my ears when she talks. Some of the music, though, are quite catchy. That's about all I can say that's good about this film.
