"Knives Out" was amazing! It was a spot-on homage on old school murder mysteries and all the actors were hilarious in their respective roles. It was also fun to hear Daniel Craig speak in a southern drole. The mysteries and the way they where discovered was all very satisfying. If you need a good laugh, go watch this movie!

A puzzle without breaking your head. 'Knives Out' is an example of mystery cinema that successfully combines entertainment with aesthetic care. What immediately draws my attention, alongside the cinematography, is the lead duo of Daniel Craig and Ana de Armas. Rian Johnson knows exactly how to show who is truly important and who is secondary through shot duration and framing. He measures each character’s weight carefully without overshadowing the rest or letting them fall short. The use of color and lighting is breathtaking, fascinating, and utterly mesmerizing. The set design is equally impressive, complementing the overall aesthetic care. It’s so gratifying that I can’t help but lose myself in every detail of the mansion. Simply stunning. The story is neither the most complex nor the most intricate of the genre, which is actually refreshing. Johnson opts for effectiveness: entertainment without unnecessary detours or overly complicated puzzles. The script allows the audience to discover key elements as the characters reveal them, or at the same time they themselves learn them. I didn’t feel like piecing things together on my own—not out of laziness, but because I preferred the story to unfold through dialogue. This creates a pleasant experience, with attention focused on the development rather than solving the puzzle. No member of the cast stands out individually, despite their high caliber. This does not weaken the film in the slightest: credibility and cohesion remain intact. It works well as a mystery and detective film. It’s a light yet precise offering, showing that a story doesn’t need to be convoluted to be deep and effective. I couldn’t say if it’s among my favorite films in the genre, but I’m certain it’s far from the worst.

Gripping, breathless, and unsettling. Knives Out presents an investigation turned completely upside down without ever losing the audience along the way. With a hilarious Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, a perfectly cast Ana de Armas playing the role of the “ugly duckling” villain, and other standout cast members like Chris Evans. This Agatha Christie–like film is, in the end, not that far from being a masterpiece. It just lacks a bit more drama in its most crucial moments, I would say.

A decent film with an above average storyline. Some of the acting isn’t great - in particular Daniel Craig and that accent?! That said, the direction and setting are good, and it flows well enough to watch to the end. I’d probably watch it again once I’ve forgotten who-done-it!

Knives Out is very smart, fun, awesome and rewatchable. The characters are interesting, many of them are more than one dimensional. Benoit Blanc is my favourite character and most people say this probably, but everything about him is just so cool. His introduction is probably the best, the way they framed and edited that is absolute cinema. Marta is probably the most relatable and the other most liked character, which I totally agree with. The cops are funny and the family is just awful, although their political discussions can be hilarious. The story is clever and because this is a rewatch I picked up a lot of clues. Some of those hints are extremely subtle, even reaching Agatha Christie level. The direction is great, the cinematography too. There's one shot near the end, which is a slow-motion dolly zoom, which is something I don't remember having seen, ever. The editing is impressive, but sometimes the fast dialogue and the intercutting between different scenes was confusing and I had to pause and go back. The score is diverse and it feels just as classical as the setting and the story. The cast is perfect and the acting performances are incredible, especially the ones by Ana De Armas and Benoit Blanc himself, Daniel Craig. Knives Out is instantly a classic and I'm finishing this review after having seen the new one and I can say this is still my favourite.

This is just an Agatha Christie rip off! But with weirder plot devices that don't really work!

a good modern detective, now it is becoming more and more difficult to film them because of technologies that have simplified the solution of crimes, which makes the creation of detectives in our time more difficult, but here it was possible to catch attention

Clever movie, neat writing, you think you know all that happened, but you don't. If you want a plot twisting adventure crime story, then you'll love this movie.

Knives Out shows audiences a great whodunnit. The characters are very cliche, but the humour is good and the story unfolds, well.

Rian Johnson writes and directs this wickedly pointy ensemble murder mystery, which finds a large, snobby family at odds over the untimely demise of their allegedly-beloved patriarch and the impending redistribution of his wealth. The first hour is a particularly brilliant bit of deceptive filmmaking, shifting from one unreliably-narrated flashback to the next, while the audience is left to make sense of all the lies and half-truths. Eccentric to the last, each member of this extended family has something to hide, a personal scandal or ulterior motive, and that's conveniently left out of their fond memories with the deceased. Though it's burdened with such a heavy cast, none feel extraneous or fade into the woodwork. They're each distinct and memorable, even if a few of the actors take things a bit over the top and flirt with parody. Daniel Craig might be the loudest such example, constantly over-playing his best Foghorn Leghorn accent, but he's got plenty of competition. Like a high-expense party game, most everybody has a gimmick. Some just work it a bit harder than the others. When it's on-point, Knives Out delights in toying with perception and reality, sharing the same events from multiple, highly biased, perspectives. It falters on the home stretch, though, dropping the cloak and dagger in favor of a rather blunt, linear final act. That's disappointing, but not crippling. Even with the limp climax, it's a quirky, amusing, well-composed mystery. Just seemed like it was on the fast-track to something more.

This movie is how an ensemble cast should not behave. Almost every actor was begging for the spotlight with over the top performances, especially Daniel Craig's ridiculous Detective Foghorn Leghorn.

Convoluted but very **** plot twist is indeed very good, I found it sad that almost all the other characters were practically discarded in the 2nd/3rd act.I still don't know if the detective is a genius or an idiot, since he's played by the 007 actor, I imagine he's a genius.

I am a fan of mystery-detective films, especially when they achieve the right balance of thrill and comedy, which gets me thinking during the movie and not stating the obvious answers to the mysteries. Knives Out ticked out all the boxes I laid out. It got me thinking; I expected a major twist towards the end; it made me laugh, and thrilled me enough with its presentation, especially the color grading, musical scoring, and the choice of actors! This was truly a masterpiece.

A really good movie. The second half is notably weaker than the first half. The writing has numerous notable flaws but the overall story makes up for it.

A great film, which is none other than a tribute to the wonderful yellow films of the past and which, nowadays, strangely, it is hard to replicate. This is obviously not the case with Knives Out, which, in its simplicity, is a film that borders on perfection.

I really did not like this movie. Ana De Armas is easy on the eyes, but even her beauty couldn't save this film. I felt so bored watching it. It felt like it was trying to be Clue(1985) and just didn't hold up in my opinion.

A romp through classic murder mystery, but with enough fresh takes to be exciting. Every separate part of this movie delights. I was even able to come to accept, and then love, Daniel Craig's southern drawl.

Hard to see what the appeal is after the simple fact of the ensemble cast. I think the hype is more about a beloved new director than the results here. Acting is on point for what they were attempting but all in all it’s just a whimsical flick with nothing at all interesting. Glass Onion was much worse, probably a Zero. I think with some time these rave reviewers will embarrassingly look back at this movie in the same vein as Cannonball Run.

When a wealthy mystery writer is found dead the morning after his 85th birthday party, private detective Benoit Blanc suspects foul play, and his whole family are potential suspects. Knives Out is an homage to the old fashioned murder mystery movies that, thanks to its stellar ensemble cast and ever twisting plot, makes for a relatively entertaining couple of hours.

Stunningly good movie. So exciting, riveting whodunnit. Had me thoroughly entertained, and edge of my seat. Hard to have a more enjoyable movie. A crowd pleaser on par with Marvel's best, while also paying attention to detail that is incredibly endearing. Great movie, worth every minute.

THE GOOD: Editing, prod. design, score, camera angles, performances and great twists. Unlike anything you've seen. The foreshadowing is awesome. THE BAD: Sometimes rushes too much and the script doesn't mantain it's level (which actually is pretty damn high).

I honestly wonder if Im watching the same movie as the people who liked it. Now Im not saying it was terrible. But the Foghorn leghorn accent from OO7 was really horrific. Silly to be honest. The mystery is extremely easy to solve, just follow the politics. The person who is the least woke is always guilty. And modern mysteries will never have a bad guy who is from the protected group like Marta, so you know she is going to be the good guy. But what I thought was maybe too unsubtle was the way the writer had conversation that was 100% about politics, and made a slight bit at pretending that he was making fun of both sides. Really the message was very clear; Americans are odious, spoiled, untalented people who are living in luxury because of what their predecessors did. Its time to be kicked out of our house, and hand everything over the kindly, loyal, intelligent and honest illegals who deserve to have everything we now have. And if we object? Well, then we are criminals. Its not like the subtext is complicated. American characters are only good to the degree that they help Marta. the person who is a Foreigner taking the right to be in our country through criminality. She is portrayed as the hero, of course. I almost feel sad for people who didn't notice this. Other then that you have bad acting, plot holes, and a clumsy attempt to copy Agatha Christie. Except Christie centered her mysteries around family dynamics, and interesting characters. This is really all about politics. This what all of the arguments are about too. Its just a bit of soulless propaganda pretending to be a mystery. But Im giving it a few start because of the lovely house.

For me, the 3rd best movie of 2019, after Parasite and Joker (which is a really big thing). Here is technically everything you want from a crime film: Agatha Christie-like fabulous writing with dark twists and turns, some drop of bizarre comedy in the ocean of drama, complex characters, a brilliant detective, and a Chris Evans. lol 8.25/10

Rian Johnson's witty and clever Knives Out is a classic "whodunit" for the modern age. It features first rate performances and a first rate script filled with twists, turns, and smart social commentary. Though, Ana de Armas is the real breakout star here following her eye-catching performance in Blade Runner 2049.
