The excellently irrelevant music is played by excellently irrelevant real-life rockers.

A lot of people don't get that this movie is tongue and cheek. It's SUPPOSE to be cheesy and slap stick. There is a boy band with Donald Faison, Seth Green, Cary Elwes and Breckin Meyer... who have a hit song "Back Door Lover"! Scrubs, Robin Hood Men In Tights, The Princess Bide, Austin Powers, Robot Chicken........ this is what you are dealing with. Oh and PeeWee Herman is the band manger. This is NOT A SERIOUS MOVIE. It's slap stick! Oh and before you hear about all the advertisement in the movie, it's part of the plot and the film creators did not accept ANY MONEY from ANY company for product placement. Get a sense of humor, take off your captain serious hat, and enjoy this very well done comedy.

It's funny how harsh the critics were on this movie as it was clearly a satire that commented on consumerism in the early 2000s as well as adding great music. Nothing was to be taken seriously, but rather as a large joke. My favourite cult classic of all time, though if I had been the creators I would have ensure it was PG instead of PG-13, as it then would have had a larger box office draw.

Dippy, funny, and fast-paced enough to be a guilty pleasure.

Harmless girlie trifle. Or at least it means to be.

Salon
Would be more fun if it were either more shameless or more principled in the bad-girl way, taking a stance on the value of artistry and attitude over commerce.

USA Today
The concept is so hypocritical, it's like Britney Spears calling Christina Aguilera underdressed and overexposed.

The New York Times
Few people other than future airline passengers should be subjected to such misery.

A flop in a flop divided by zero. This recycled rehash of the original thing should've been a straight-to-video kind of movie or an original video worth uploading to YouTube.
