The film did exactly what it was supposed to: it made me laugh and let me switch off my brain for a really good time. Some parts drag a little, but in the end, it’s only 1h40 — which is totally reasonable for a **** there’s a blooper reel running through the entire credits. A fun surprise, and a really enjoyable watch!

Jackpot was okay. It was not bad but it wasn’t the best movie. Im tired of seeing John cena in acting roles playing a “comedic killer”, I would prefer him in a more serious action role. There was definitely a good amount of action scenes and I enjoyed the plot. I would still recommend this for a watch.

It was weird watching a movie where Akwafina was talking to herself a lot but it was okay. All jokes aside, the movie was okay, a bit silly but different.

Fairy average movie. Movie filled with plot holes. Weird movie plot but screen play and action sequence is good in first half but towards the end it becomes bad. Overall fairly decent movie.

I liked it. Ok it is simple and at times silly, but at least the concept was something a bit different and was entertaining to watch it.

The reunion of Awkwafina and Simu Liu, while enjoyable, doesn't elevate the film's overall entertainment value. While the film offers a refreshing premise, it struggles to maintain momentum and deliver a truly satisfying cinematic experience. Despite the star power and potential for exciting action, Jackpot ultimately disappoints.

The concept of the movie is intriguing. Imagine if 2013's "The Purge" was a comedy, a different take on the finished product we got. While the idea is fun, its execution could have been better. The script written by Rob Yescombe (Outside the Wire) is dragged down at times by clunky dialogue, an inconsistent tone, and some unfunny jokes that never truly elevate the story. I'm not the biggest fan of Awkwafina, but I liked her in this movie (except for the times she's improving). I like her backstory and her relationship with John Cena (who is probably the best part of the movie). The rest of the cast is fun, but some minor characters receive more screen time than needed, which is a deliberate choice to add depth to the story and the world of the movie. The humor doesn't always work, but when it does, I laugh. I'm a simple man. As for the action sequences, they are well-choreographed and intense and add a thrilling element to the movie. They work well and complement the humor well. Director Paul Feig has done this before with 2015's "Spy".Overall, it's a fun movie, and I recommend it for a light-hearted, entertaining watch.

The film stars Awkwafina (Katie), John Cena (Noel), Simu Liu (Louis Lewis), Seann William Scott (Rugged Man). This film is long on swearing and fight and chase scenes but falls short on comedy. The plot is far fetched and not a lot substance. The film is written by Rob Yescombe. Directed by Paul Feig . You know the film isn't going to be good when most of the actors names are Scary Goth Guy, Lunch Lady, and **** Dad. Some may like this film most will not.

An ok action comedy, the super glossy and staged visuals just feel off. Simu Liu continues his descent into worst actor alive, impressive work here.

Jackpot! is a strange beast. There's some good acting, some extremely good choreography and the concept and Director should have meant an above average comedy, but this is unfortunately not the case. Actually, it feels like Jackpot! has purposefully tried to be below average, and this is evidenced in the outtakes that roll during the credits, which are all funnier than what went into the movie itself. It's also a strange choice to show the audience that there were better jokes left on the cutting room floor and it makes me wonder if this was done on purpose, to highlight that some decision make or other ruined the movie for everyone involved. The out-takes show the people who made the movie are obviously funny people who had a good time making the movie and could have made a really fun little picture, but for whatever reason, whether it was an Editor without a sense of humour, or a studio executive that commanded Jackpot! aim for the lowest common denominator, what ended up in the movie was some of the least funny things that happened on set. I won't go on about the decline of comedy movies, and studios reluctance to shoot almost anything with any positivity, these days, but it does seem strange that what could have been a very entertaining film, made by good people, and that evidently had better jokes to tell, was purposefully gimped at the editing stage, for seemingly no good reason whatsoever.

There's a new lottery in future California: Anyone can claim the prize if they kill the winner within 24 hours…no guns. This leaves the movie open for a non-stop chase with all manner of attacks. Awkwafina, who can be very funny, is more manic here as the winner. John Cena, charmingly amusing as always, volunteers to protect her from the pursuit of the constant crowd. The concept leaves plenty of room for wacky physical encounters and those fights sometimes prove clever…other times just messy. Even though director Paul Feig keeps it zipping along, the script is seldom genuinely funny. The movie is passable because of the energy, but lacks the punch to really hit the (dare I say it) jackpot. NOTE: Look for the director in his typical suit handing a copyright infringement letter to Cena near the end and stick thru the credits for fun outtakes and one final gag.

Paul Feig se entrega a um besteirol, e com uma premissa meio suspeita moralmente: de tempos em tempos uma pessoa é sorteada para ser bilionária, mas se a matarem em determinado tempo, o algoz toma pra si o prêmio. Assim, a mocinha passa o tempo todo fugindo de fanáticos querendo matá-la. Não sei ao certo o quanto a premissa contribui a uma banalização da violência, mas tentei focar na comédia e ridículo das situações, mas o nível é bem demente, inclusive com piadas escatológicas. Tem que ir de forma despretensiosa pra encarar.
