Y'all slept on "Imaginary" ️ Y'all didn't know DeWanda Wise (of Netflix's "She's Gotta Have It" and Fox's "Shots Fired") was the real star of the movie, and not the cute kid or the cute evil bear ️

OMG this movie was just awful beyond what words can piece together. Whoever gave this project the green light should seriously consider another line of work!

Imaginary shows the decadence of horror films today. It is an absurd mixture of a poorly crafted script, lousy actors and a terribly bad end result.

Chato, cansativo e um terror sem terror. Filme muito ruim em que você não se importar com ninguem e nem os sustos funciona, enfim uma perda de tempo

This started out as a pretty decent movie. It was creepy and there were a few good scares. But, then it descends into the abyss and it becomes just a mess. Did not think the second half made any improvements and I felt it dragged the promise of the first half right down the drain.

Blumhouse needs to stop. Yes, the rumors are true, it's bad, like, really bad, just like the majority of the films they have put out for the past several years. This company's existence and the waves of "horror" movies they pump out every year is the number one reason why the horror genre is getting a serious bad rep. When you forget to put "horror" in your "horror movie." You should probably not be making films in general if only ten percent of it is going to have any horror elements at all. If someone told me Blumhouse movies were generated solely by A.I...I would probably believe them. I will give a point to the setting in the last act which seemed to be the only thing that had any planning, effort, or thought put into it. That's it. That's all it gets. 1/10

Imaginary was pretty interesting. It had some points that were reminiscent of other horror movies and the elements of spellcasting to open spaces for wicked entities to step in seemed a bit predictable at moments. However, I still liked it. I am sure that others who enjoy Blumhouse movies, particularly fans of FNAF and M3gan would definitely appreciate it, but there were some things that I felt the writers could've done a bit differently to make it flow with a bit more mystery to throw the audience off. All in all, it was an enjoyable movie, and had some decent jump scares.

Blumhouse have done some fun and interesting low budget horror movies over the last few years, such as the hilariously grotesque Thanksgiving. Sadly this isn't one of them. They could have done so much with the "imaginary friend goes rogue" premise, but this is as dumb as any recent MCU movie and not even in an ironically amusing way. Barely anything at all happens for the first hour of the movie, with loads of false jump scares which don't actually lead to anything. Once it finally gets going in the third act, it's just a mish-mash of ideas and even scenes stolen from much better movies of the past. Much of the climax of the story feels like a rip off of the plot from Coraline, and other bits are just Easter Eggs from classic films randomly wedged into the movie - like "here's a building based on MC Escher's Relativity painting like the one in Labyrinth", and "here's someone stood facing the wall in the corner of a dark room a la Blair Witch Project". Also the evil version of Chauncey the bear looks like the yeti from Troma's utterly dreadful "Yeti: A Gay Love Story". It's a shame because it's reasonably well acted and could have been something great - in the years since trashy torture porn like the Saw movies hogged the box office, Blumhouse have always been good at putting out low budget horror that manages to be fun, light hearted and interesting. But this is the sort of poor screen-filler fodder you expect at this time of year. No wonder Universal rejected it.

“Imaginary” is the sum total of everything that is wrong with modern-day horror cinema and Blumhouse. A terrible bombardment of clichés built on a completely calculated formula. I almost had a heart attack while watching the movie.A cute daughter who sees ghosts, a jerk big sister, a sexy neighbor boy, a stepmom ready to fight, a busy father, and a fake Elise Rainier. Seeing supernatural but moving on like nothing happened. Everyone becomes friends in the end. Like c'mon!

Can't say I didn't enjoy the movie, because I did. However, it's this movie you watch only once and then don't feel like watching again.
