To the fan of ’80s slashers, this return to glorious excess is a beautiful thing.

Tremendous energy, outrageous humor, dazzling technical finesse -- and a numbing amount of violence, brutality, bloodshed and all-out savagery. It is downright depressing to think about all that vigorous cinematic artistry and expertise aimed so low.

I was so excited to hear this movie coming out. It didn't disappoint. My two greatest horror killers of all time battling each other. Love this movie.

Blood, assassinations, hot chicks and two of the badass killers of the film history, what else you can ask for?

The best way to sum up Freddy Vs. Jason is: good concept, mediocre execution.

Doesn't have any of the creepy suspense that graced the first "Friday" movies, and very little of the Daliesque dream imagery of the early "Nightmares." It's just a slam-bang succession of gross-out mutilations, played for giggles.

Charlotte Observer
Since there can be no suspense, the point is to enjoy the hewing of limbs and the severing of necks, to delight in chopped-off fingers and gouged-out eyes. The title characters are embodiments of utter evil, right?

The New York Times
This dumb, only intermittently (though sometimes even intentionally) funny sequel presumes that since almost everything else from the 1980's has come back, why not the cynosures of the "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Friday the 13th" movies?

Formulaic hodge-podge that trades on a certain demographic's affection for the bogeymen of their formative years.

The rare case of development hell producing a real good movie. It was teased 10 years earlier at the end of „Jason goes to Hell“. There Jason's mask was pulled underneath by Freddys glove. This was awesome and fans were excited for the battle of two legends of horror / slasher movies. It took however 10 years to get this done with lots of rejected ideas, production issues and conflicts of interest. Ronny Yu was finally chosen as director and succeeded in making one of the best versus horror movies. Even the story is pretty good for a horror / slasher movie. The Elm Street has become peaceful as the residents have put Freddy Krueger into his worst nightmare. He is weakened as he is forgotten and not feared anymore. All his possible victims are out of his reach and there is nothing he can do against it on his own. Then he found a way out as he tricks Jason into doing his bidding expecting that his story will resurface and the knowledge and fear gives him his entrance back to action. However he did not expect to have no victims left as Jason does nothing halfhearted. This spawns an epic battle across the whole movie. In other movies the characters fight only at the end while here they clash again and again for a big part of the movie. They also archive to give both characters their strengths and weaknesses. I think both characters were handled well. Also for the rest of the cast the theme from Alien vs Predator is valid. Who ever wins we lose. Maybe there is a way for them to win or at least not to lose. For the Actors there is nothing wrong here too. Robert Englund is the embodiment of his role as Freddy Krueger and will forever be remembered as legend of the genre. Ken Kirzinger is an intimidating Jason Voorhees. For the others I think I will praise Monica Keena as Lori Campell, Jason Ritter as Will Rollins and Kelly Rowland as Kia Waterson for their roles and enhancing the movie. The fights are epic, brutal and merciless as each of the icons of horror tries their best in killing the other for good. I will not talk about themes, visual representation and ideas I enjoyed because of spoilers. Be warned for the ending. It is excellently done and satisfying but also something that can be a disappointment for others (Not for me). Overall this deserves credit for its ideas, style and being a success-story of a movie from development hell. A must see for fans of both franchises and the genre in general. Bonus knowledge: There was a plan to end the movie with both characters ending in hell where Pinhead from the Hellraiser franchise would appear and asked them what the problem was. A Freddy vs Jason vs Pinhead would even be more stuff of legends.

Greetings from Lithuania. "Freddy vs. Jason" (2003) is a descent movie considering that creators had a difficult task with this one. I mean it is 18th movie of combined both franchises, and both of them has been milked to death at that point. And this long coming cross over has to make it work - two iconic movie killers, new set of teens, kills and all of this should have been packed into 1 h 30 min - a standard for the franchise. And mostly i think they succeeded, but one would wish a better film still. Overall, "Freddy vs. Jason" isn't a bad film by any means, and for it mostly worked. Its a one fan fiction and it is decently done, considering the task.

Woah, this movie really ****. It's not that I didn't expect that before watching, when having seen the title already, but in the end this bunch of awkwardness even failed to motivate me laughing about it. In fact, all I remember from the night I've seen it is that this movie pretty much abuses every single horror-movie clichee I had in mind at that time. But due to the predictability of the scary moments and the complete irrelevance of the story this work completely fails to scare anyone. The characters are not emotional, and even the two antagonists don't work well together. When trying to be disgusting, this movie for real only is hilarious, especially to the fact that the forced amount of gore and blood are non more than a "horrify" element giving at least a little scariness to the seen. I give Freddy versus Jason a score of two, as the acting matches the given situation and the effects are pretty good for 2003 and the setting. Other than that; this movie is stupid and boring and should not be watched.
