Fear Street: Prom Queen is an entertaining film, the kind you can watch easily if you enjoy slashers. It has high school, prom queen candidates, an 80s atmosphere, murders, suspicion and that basic pleasure of trying to guess who is behind everything. It is not a great film, but it is not a disaster either. It works as bloody, disposable **** problem is that it arrives after a much more interesting trilogy. Those three films had the curse, the witchcraft, Shadyside’s past, the jumps between different periods and a larger sense of story that gave everything more weight. This is not a direct sequel to that trilogy, and you can feel it. It shares the same universe, a teen tone and a taste for slasher horror, but it lacks that saga dimension that made even the earlier flaws feel like part of something bigger.Here, everything is simpler. The film plays as a prom-night slasher, with its clichés, popular girls, outsiders, secrets and showy deaths. And it partly works, because the franchise clearly likes the genre. There is blood, there is pace, and some scenes have enough energy to keep your attention. If you go in expecting a teen horror film without too many complications, you can have a decent time with it.Still, it is also much less memorable. The characters do not have the strength of those in the original trilogy, the story is more predictable, and the film never really makes Shadyside feel as unsettling as it did before. There are fun moments and a couple of striking deaths, but it lacks imagination, it lacks bite, and it lacks a stronger reason to exist beyond continuing to use the Fear Street name.Even so, it is watchable. It has that quick-consumption slasher feel, with a direct entertainment purpose and very few pretensions. It is not fair to expect the emotional complexity or curse-driven force of 1666, because this is not that kind of film. This one is lighter, more superficial and closer to a standard high-school horror movie.Fear Street: Prom Queen is not on the same level as the witchcraft-and-curse trilogy, but as a standalone teen slasher it has its moments. It entertains, offers some blood and keeps the connection to Shadyside alive, even if in a much smaller way. For slasher fans, it is enough. For anyone expecting another entry with the strength of the trilogy, it falls short.

An average slasher film and essentially a "Prom Night" remake with creative (albeit CGI-ridden) kills, a good 80s pop playlist as a soundtrack, and a pleasing 80s Instagram filter. The highlight is the Newton Brothers' score; I've already forgotten the plot, but the finale was quite entertaining. Anyone between 12 and 17 years old looking for a sleepover movie will definitely enjoy "Fear Street: Prom Queen" more than I did.

This film wins the award for the most expositional voice over ever and that’s just at the start. In the nineties generic rubbish like this would have had a tenth of the budget and gone straight to DVD. This is the new b-movie fodder landscape: big budget forgettable fluff. Even the inclusion of indie favourite Phantasm feels like a stereotype they’re forcing on us. The biggest problem is that there are no characters which makes it hard to distinguish between them. The acting is fine, it’s the writing at fault. They use every stereotype ever with some level of creativity which I guess is impressive in its unoriginality. It’s not all bad, once you get through the first act it does improve with some comedy and you start to accept the film for what it is but then you get lost again in the generic final act and the conclusion was a particular low-light. I actually liked the editing. The slasher kills were gory. This isn’t a bad film, it’s stunning in its mediocrity, it’s only notable in that it is forgettable. In case I haven’t hammered my grievances with this film home yet, it is unimaginative derivative drivel with a big budget which is the only thing that makes it watchable.

This fourth film in the franchise (adapting the 15th book) is a disappointment. After a solid first half, time starts to drag — and drag a lot. What could’ve been wrapped up in 45 minutes is painfully stretched to a never-ending 90. And all of it for a final reveal that’s deeply underwhelming.

É preciso muita disposição pra levar a sério, poderia ter mais suspense nas cenas das mortes, algumas se vc piscar você vai perder o golpe, mas há um lado positivo nisso aqui: muito sangue e cortes propositalmente trashes. O fato de grande parte da ação ocorrer num baile onde os participantes pouco se importam com o sumiço de uns, faz com que diminua a tensão como um todo, de modo a não criar um ambeinte de imersão necessário pro tom claustrofóbico que poderia ter. O plot, claro, ratifica o argumento, por mais maniqueísta que seja, mas ao menos dá coerência mínima ao roteiro, nã sendo difícil de prever, mas também nem tão óbvio assim. Mas no geral a sátira funciona, e acredito que um exemplar desses para a décadade 1990 funcionaria sim.

I haven't seen such a stupid and ordinary movie in a long time. I guess this movie was written by AI. There is not a single second of originality in it. Everything is absolutely stolen

What a complete disappointment, this carries over none of the quality or lore from the original trilogy. This is just a completely bland slasher in a generic setting that has been beaten to death in the genre.

This was the worst movie l've watched this year. The storyline is completely disconnected from the Fear Street universe. Besides the fact that they reference past events like Camp Nightwing once. And being set in Shadyside. It should have been a separate movie called"Prom Queen" or something. Even the killers being a whole family is a completely different concept from the previous films. Truly a disappointment. I was so excited to see it and it was just a huge seeping pile of ****.

Bland characters with a Basic Plot honestly so predictable I wish I never watched this show all the characters were so dumb the entire time I watched it was just spent waiting for the characters to die I'm pretty sure all their brains were perfectly smooth.

Fear street : prom queen was good. I love the 80s feel of the movie , it was very nostalgic. The movie had a good twist. The gore and violence was good. I would recommend this watch.

Even if you skip ahead to the so-called "good" parts, you don’t actually get to see anything good. It’s an endlessly long teen drama with a few boring murders thrown in, and by the time the plot wraps up, you just roll your eyes and wonder if there are really people who read this script and thought, "Hey, this is good. We should turn this into a movie." It feels more like they *had* to make the film, no matter how bad the script was.What’s truly annoying throughout is the music. Yes, we get it, the film is set in the '80s. But even in the actual '80s, most movies had decent soundtracks, not this awful synthpop/electropop mess.

Fear Street: Prom Queen features a compelling narrative that connects to the Fear Street trilogy. However, it is important to note that it is not as closely integrated as the earlier films but rather a standalone within the universe for the time being. The characters are well-developed and the atmosphere, visuals and music are excellent, complementing the overall tone of the film. The pacing is also well-balanced. Overall, it is an enjoyable movie that many overlook and dismiss as inferior simply because it is not as closely connected to the original trilogy at this stage.

Terrible movie. the amount of bad a movie has to be to have me login to a website and give a review. Other bad movies I can shrug off. This movie is terrible in every aspect. From the opening moment it's try hard and cringe.

This was simply just awful. Just everything about it was horrific. Original trilogy was great but words can't describe how much this movie should be avoided

This movie was so subpar I am surprised they released under the Fear Street brand. It, at best, tarnishes the brand and at worst, destroys it. The original trilogy were great, well written and directed. This movie looks like a teen slasher with no story directed by a five year old who missed their ****'t waste your time.

Five stars because wow, I have been a fan of this book series my entire life, and I've been eagerly anticipating this movie series for just as **** trilogy was excellent, but I think Matt has connected the story to the newly released with perfect execution, and I sincerely hope they continue producing more books for Netflix and R.L's influence stays because they're delivering exactly what I've always wanted to see!

This movie was so bad, the plot was ridiculous and everything else was horrible, only one scene when the massacre happens in the main hall was decent but nothing else.
