Fear Street Part 1: 1994 is a film rich with character, world-building, Easter eggs, and scares. Horror fans will be grinning over a visual allusion, then be pulled to the edge of their seat by this slaughter-packed adventure, then catch themselves screaming at a harrowingly portrayed murder.

Netflix got it right, This movie was fantastic from start to finish and took left turns when possible. The characters are interesting enough to want to find out wher ethey end up. Looking forward to the other 2 coming in the trilogy! This is a fun film with good scares and dark enough to use comedy when required. Check it out!

Amazing Film! I don't like horror movies but Fear Street is a really good movie! Combining elements from the 90s with a great mystery, I loved it!

A popcorn-friendly horror romp, Fear Street is a colorful addition to Netflix’s catalogue.

Fear Street is like a big soup pot full of everything – there are shades of Scream, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Stephen King’s It, Halloween, Friday the 13th, and more. Watching Fear Street brings back memories of wandering around musty video stores and browsing the HORROR section for the most lurid VHS box art you can find. There was something sacred about that experience, like going to church.

The film is R-rated R.L. Stine — simple, catchy, punchy and playfully derivative.

1994 channels that legacy of give and take, between teen horror of the page and screen, into a polished nostalgia object of secondhand thrills, a throwback to a throwback.

There’s an unmistakeable timidity to director Leigh Janiak and Phil Graziadei’s screenplay: it feels odd to watch an 18-rated horror that feels as if it’s going out of its way not to offend.

Not my favourite or even especially memorable it is still entertaining mostly because of the excellent casting. The writing is the most disappointing with thinly drawn characters and quite a dull story. Thankfully the cast transcends the writing to make the characters engaging enough to watch the whole film and just about enough for me to want to watch part 2. In terms of believability, they looked and acted slightly too old for the roles they were playing. The direction along with all of the technical aspects are high quality big budget but ultimately uninspiring. The heavy use of vignette may fit with the style of the 90s but as not much else fits that style I found it annoying.

Character: The main cast has the same stereotypical setup of people in a group. Regardless, it feels as if every character is hollow and provides no significant impact toward the story. Characters' deaths feel unimpactful, shallow, and often confusing as to how or why they happened in the first place. The forced relationships and dynamics between "good" and "evil" are pushed into the viewer's face every few minutes as if the film is trying to differentiate itself from how insufferable the plot is. Plot: The plot is everything a horror film should and shouldn't be, all combined into a **** show. Yes, there were attempts at creating suspenseful moments, and the kills are gory and bloody. However, the story never attempts to build on itself; rather, it decides to add whatever it needs just to keep the movie going. Convenient plot points happen too often, and the pacing between different acts is all over the place. If the remaining two films in the trilogy are not taken into consideration, the ending is one of the most horribly written and executed scenes that completely wipes all the progress made throughout the film. Script/Performance: The script was made as if the viewer were too stupid to follow what was happening on screen. The film kept revisiting "important" plot points that viewers may have missed or weren't paying attention to. And honestly, I don't blame them. The performances were utterly lacking, and the actor for the main character was highly unlikable. Every line of dialogue felt as if nothing was going through their heads, with no emotional delivery fitting for a horror situation. Visuals/Score: Visually, the film is quite average. Although the kills are well made, they aren't "scary" in any sense. The score was the only thing contributing to the 90's factor of the film. Without it, the film's immersion and nostalgia completely fall apart and fail to live up to its own name. Overall: Fear Street Part One: 1994 is a movie just to be a movie. The film cannot become any more bland or basic than it already is. This film fundamentally tries to be your typical 90's nostalgia slasher film while attempting to appeal to the new generation.

Just Scream at home. Trying to be teen slasher movie, but all the dialogues sound like a 40-year-old director trying to understand what 19-year-olds are talking about and the conversations came out at the level of 10-year-olds but with the addition of "Fk it" every few sentences. Some characters are bland and their only characteristic feature is that they are gay. Others are forcedly exaggerated and try to be funny like a school clown but come out just cringe. It just mix of Screem, some witch horror and teens drama but without understanding what was behind the phenomenon of Scream series. There should be some relation, chemistry between main character and the killer and what we get? - just a random possessed person trying to kill everybody without finesse or art, just stab people. If you never watched any slasher before and you are 15 years old (dialogues) maybe you'll like it but it's enough to watch 2 good slashers to understand biggest weakness of this "masterpiece". I watched some slashers that were as bad that were fun to watch them. Other way we have this. Here was the first time I felt that I just waste my time. It's just trying to be a movie for everyone and it's for no one, trying be a mix of few movies and it doesn't do anything good enough. The most boring slasher I ever saw, and being boring as a slasher is a challenge. Btw I just ask is it enough to add random gay people without any characteristics to force few people to positive reviews bombing based on some 10/10 comments here? Also where have we arrived that some true "critics" base their reviews on things like that and give more than 6/10 to things like this. Do you know that you don't have to review a film genres that you have no idea about? It's a little bit funny that the same person reviews horrors, romantic movies and Disney movies. This is like this movie, trying to be an expert of every genre and don't know enough of any of them.
