Helms and Wilson are sometimes a stretch as brothers, especially in the more emotional scenes. But Close is majestic as the mother, a supporting role that feels bigger than it is.

Everyone here has been better, and funnier, in other things. This is a lazy story, wholly dependent upon the likability of its cast which, while considerable, isn’t enough to make it worth the trouble.

Sometimes movie reviewers are just dead-wrong on comedies. They seem to love when genres are combined in horror films and dramas - but do that with a silly comedy, and they proclaim it the worst thing ever. Anyway, I waited a year to see the film because of the poor **** it was one of the better comedies of the last year. Its a feel good film, with a lot of heart, and was more enjoyable to watch than many many films in the last year. Is it an amazing film for arts sake ? No, of course not, most comedies are not. But it made me laugh, and it also made me feel something, and was a very well done silly comedy, with heart. Definitely recommend if you like any of Ed Helms or Owen Wilsons other work, or any of Todd Phillips stuff (I think he was the producer.)

Nota: 7.2/10 (Bom)

The scenes are either too heavy (the climax is the downer of the year), too sedate or too gross.

Filled with insincere wackiness and sappiness, Father Figures never quite figures out whether it wants to be a raunchy, zippy road movie or a more dialogue-driven dramedy. Despite having no personality of its own, this movie just yearns to be recognized at all.

The comedy is limp; a sentimental, existential ending is cut-rate and unearned.

Limp jokes, bad chemistry and the least believable onscreen fraternal bond make for a very lacklustre viewing experience. Even a late appearance from Christopher Walken can't save the day.

Father Figures is a movie, ostensibly. I'm pretty sure it is. Moving images were projected, along with recorded sound, which indicates it is a movie, but the effect was so listless, low-energy and profoundly unentertaining that I jotted down in my notes "what even IS this?" It would be more accurate to describe the experience as a nearly two-hour borderline hostage situation, with torture involving bad, offensive and unfunny "comedy."

I don't know, I found it quite funny. Of course it is not anything outstanding, but for me it seemed like a decent comedy

Not as funny as it had potential to be, but this is still a pretty decent watch if you were to catch it for free on TV at some point. It's never boring and there's some good moments throughout.

Honestly, this has to be one of the most underwhelming films that I have ever seen. It was the equivalent of going to the dentist and getting a cleaning.

Can somebody explain me how this film wasted such a cast? Seriously, I can't believe that even with all of them this movie failed so miserably.

What a god-awful movie. Not even worthy of me typing one more sentence. If they still used film to make movies i'd say it's a waste of film.
