Hardly an extraordinary movie. In fact, it's hard to believe that this schmaltzy film found its home on the big screen rather than the Hallmark Channel. But I dare you not to feel something at its conclusion.

The screenplay by Robert Nelson Jacobs affirms life and jerks tears with welcome degrees of humor and muscle.

From the embers of older, wiser Hollywood I discovered this little gem. Its weaves its heartfelt tale of a enthused parent pushing against the boundaries of medical science to enable the development **** treatment for his children's terminal illness. Casting, production quality and screenplay are all above average. While it doesn't quite carry the spark of anything phenomenal, it certainly tugged at my heart strings as a parent myself. Worth a watch if you're in the mood for the dramatic rollercoaster that lies within.

Sometimes feels like one of those "disease of the week" TV movies from the 1970s.

The most intriguing aspects of Extraordinary Measures relate to the behind-the-scenes politicking that goes on to keep the drug development on track, although the screenplay cheats toward the end (presumably because of time constraints and a concern that too much detail might bore audiences).

It never rises above formula fare.

Extraordinary Measures isn’t extraordinary. It’s simply safe.

Looks and tastes an awful lot like a TV movie of the week.

Can't see anything wrong with this one. Very moving indeed. But it kind of misses something. Not very effective or with a huge impact. Just normal. Brendan Fraser **** as usual. Well less compared with the other ones he's been in. And obviously Ford is a plus. So can't complain that much.

I do not find movie about sick children entertaining, Even less so, if based on a real story of suffering. I stumbled upon this movie on TV and thinking it was a thriller I started watching it. Big mistake. Turned out this was the “fictional” version of the story of a rich guy with two children, sick with a rare genetic disease and his efforts to save them. Very noble in the intent, but noble intents do not necessarily make good movies. If anything, this is a very manipulative one, in between the fine line dividing inspirational and delusional. A documentary would have been more appropriate. Brendan Fraser never looked puffier.
