Christopher Landon steps out of his usual playground to deliver a thriller that, while light, is surprisingly entertaining. From the very beginning it’s clear that the goal isn’t to reinvent the genre, but to offer a straightforward, fast-paced experience. And it works: this is the kind of film that grabs you early on and never really lets you check your **** story builds on the constant tension of a situation anyone could imagine, giving it a relatable edge. Landon knows when to push and when to ease off, balancing suspense and intrigue to keep the audience on edge. Some twists may feel excessive or even implausible, but that’s part of the ride, part of the playful tone the film leans **** real strength lies in the cast. Meghann Fahy takes command of the screen, blending anguish, vulnerability, and determination in a way that grounds the story when it threatens to go over the top. Sklenar also delivers, adding intensity and providing the chemistry that makes the dynamic **** pace is another highlight. The film wastes no time on detours or distracting subplots. It goes straight to the point, with tight, efficient scenes that keep the tension alive. Even at its most absurd, it keeps you **** course, it’s not flawless. Some dialogue feels forced, and the climax might be too overblown for viewers seeking strict realism. But that’s not Landon’s aim. His focus is pure entertainment, a ride designed to make the audience gasp, squirm, and even laugh nervously. On that level, the movie **** the end, it’s a thriller meant for a fun, gripping night out—nothing more, nothing less. It won’t redefine the genre, but it doesn’t need to. Sometimes, all you want is a film that’s lean, entertaining, and lets you switch off for ninety minutes.

Not many movies still keep me siting on the edge of my seat the entire time but this hits the mark.

Meghann Fahy plays a mom who ventures out on her first date since becoming single. Almost as soon as she’s seated with her companion (Brandon Sklenar), she starts getting anonymous phone messages threatening her if she doesn’t do increasingly horrible things. Almost the entire film plays out in the restaurant, while she tries to discover the culprit and avoid calamity. It creates an increasingly befuddling mystery that ultimately ends up in a tense frantic dash to save the day. It also pushes credibility by this point. Even so, it’s a compelling mystery that provides some enjoyable thrills along the way.

It’s just a really fun movie and the writing pretty good until the end where it gets a little crazy.definitely worth watching

It is a perfectly standard modern thriller that just doesn't have any juice. There really isn't a single moment where you don't think it's just going to all work out perfectly.

Drop is a tense, frightening, and exhilarating time at the movies. This movie was right up my alley of a mystery thriller with great horror elements and props to Christopher Landon on the direction of the film which was clear and decisive. Additionally I would also like to give propers to the cast, cinematography, score, and set design. All these 4 elements work together in unison to the make the film that much better. The production crew was very creative in how to make this who-dun-it thriller something different and new, reflecting aspects of our modern day society. When I say the movie doesn’t stop or slow down on suspense, I mean it! It keeps going and the climax is oh so good! My only nitpicks of the movie come from an extended plot line only introduced during the climax of the movie itself and the constant moving around of characters and story which don’t help the slower moments to breath and be relaxing. Overall, very very happy with the end result of this thriller!

Having already brilliantly proven his mastery of horror comedies (with the excellent Freaky and Happy Death Day), Christopher Landon adds another string to his bow and shows us that he can perfectly direct a thriller! Intense, suspenseful, and just the right length, he creates an anxious atmosphere in barely 1h30. An almost perfect film (it’s just a bit technologically surreal, but let’s overlook that)!

A pretty fun, tense thriller-mystery with an intriguing concept. Meghann Fahy does a great job as the main character, she convincingly portrays her internal conflict and really gets us to root for her. Brandon Sklenar, who plays her date, is also wonderful and has great chemistry with Meghann. What surprised me most was how good the cinematography was. Despite taking place in a single location for most of the movie, there are plenty of great-looking shots and impressive camera work.Unfortunately, the movie's final act is ridiculous and silly. All the twists and turns raise numerous questions about the overall story. You definitely need to suspend your disbelief, but if you do, it’s a pretty entertaining watch.

Although it is repetitious, contrived and ultimately ridiculous, Drop held my interest until the end. It’s nowhere near as good as the thrillers it emulates. It’s a trashy potboiler heavy on style. Mildly recommended. detroitcineaste

A very good edge of the seat movie. Had a very good time with it. It keeps you hooked till the end. It's kind of like Liam Neeson's 2014 movie Non Stop . Need to see more movies like these as I enjoy them a lot.

For a mistery movie. Plot and the way they filmed is really good. Full of suspense.

The film is let down by a ridiculous plot and terrible, laughable conclusion. Do you ever wonder how you can’t run a red light in real life without being chased by a police car but in movies people can drive like they’re in one of the Fast & Furious movies and there’s not a cop in sight.

'Drop' plays with an interesting concept related to dating in the age of technology; however, it doesn't always stick to it. While the second act, with all its **** influence, captivates with mystery and intrigue, the ending is disappointingly conventional and ridiculous. Yes, it's entertaining, but the social commentary it attempts to construct is superficial. Obvious oversights and several clichés prevent it from delving into more adventurous territory.

If they show you a hockey puck in the first act, you can bet it’ll be used in the third act. Making the case for bringing back the double-feature: if the main feature was a stinker, a quick, silly, entertaining B-movie thriller like this one could save the evening.

A sharp, tightly written suspense movie with great performances and great payoff. If Hitchcock were alive today he would make this kind of movie.

In Drop, Christopher Landon delivers one of the most engaging and daring projects of his career. Using the actual functionality of airdrops - a file-sharing feature via bluetooth - as a starting point, the film throws us into a claustrophobic, distressing and surprisingly funny spiral, with a sense of urgency that holds our attention from the first few minutes to the **** plot follows Violet, played by Meghann Fahy, during a romantic date in a restaurant that quickly turns into a nightmare. The character starts receiving spam via airdrop from an unknown sender, who appears to be physically close to her. The tension grows as she realizes that someone is watching her house in real time, and that her family is in danger if she doesn't follow threatening instructions. What was supposed to be an ordinary dinner party becomes an extreme surveillance experience, where the audience shares the same panic and paranoia as the protagonist.Landon draws from the same stylistic source as Death Congratulates You, especially in the balance between tension and comedy, but here the terror is more psychological and immediate. The restricted setting of the restaurant, a feature that could easily become tiresome, gains strength with direction that knows how to exploit every corner of the space. Every person around Violet becomes a potential threat. The presence of danger is constant, but invisible - and this makes the experience suffocating and fascinating at the same time. The script, written by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, works cleverly by constructing small, seemingly banal interactions with customers and employees that later turn out to be fundamental to the unfolding of the **** agile editing is a highlight. There's a dynamism that's rare in thrillers set in real time or in confined spaces, and Drop gets it right by never letting the pace drop. The tension is maintained with almost surgical efficiency, offering the viewer a journey of constant uncertainty. And even though the movie plays with the familiar “who's doing this to her?” formula, everything is handled with a naturalness that avoids easy shortcuts or artificial **** film also allows itself to explore denser themes, such as the trauma of abusive relationships, although this layer appears more as an emotional justification for the main character's motivations than as the center of the narrative. The idea is present, but it isn't explored in depth - which, in this case, doesn't weaken the film, since the focus is on the urgency of the present situation, and not on building a broader drama.Brandon Sklenar, as Violet's romantic partner, also holds his own well, serving both as support and as another piece in the machinery of mistrust created around the protagonist. The secondary cast fulfills their roles with functionality, and each figure introduced serves a purpose that is revealed later on, which demonstrates the script's care in putting together a puzzle where nothing is ****'s true that the third act loses some of the elegance with which the movie has been conducted. The revelation of the answers and the lead-up to the finale sound rushed and a little disjointed in pace and tone, which may annoy some viewers. Even so, it doesn't compromise the experience as a whole. The tension built up is so solid, and the identification with the protagonist so effective, that the emotional impact remains. The sense of urgency remains alive, even if the solutions presented at the end are more abrupt than ideal.Drop is a clear demonstration of Christopher Landon's ability to transform the ordinary into something extraordinary. A movie that takes a simple but thought-provoking concept and builds on it to create a suffocating, tense and engaging atmosphere. It's a work that manages to balance tension, discomfort and even hints of humor with remarkable confidence. In the end, it may not be perfect, but it's exactly the kind of movie that delivers what it promises: to keep you on the edge of your seat and make a simple cell phone notification a legitimate cause for paranoia.

“Drop” is a Romance Thriller with a very ambitious premise that jumps the gun and neglects consideration for realism and logic as the story follows a woman who’s blackmailed into murdering a political witness/whistleblower. While the characters are charismatic and the plot does have its clever moments despite poor pacing that makes the audience feel restless, to conclude that this conspiracy narrative is believable, much less realistic for that matter, would certainly be foolish. The mental gymnastics required to justify the narrative choices of the movie “Drop” would have to be Varsity level.

Christopher London é se mostra mais uma vez um grande diretor, um filme impecável que mistura suspense, terror, romance, drama e comédia de uma maneiraúnica e perfeita. As atuações estão perfeitas, um roteiro inteligente que te pega de surpresa a cada minuto, com reviravoltas insanas e surpreendentes.

O filme é construído para ser bem claustrofóbico, com um jantar onde o clima de tensão e romantismo irá se confundir, tendo como núcleo a personagem da Meghann Fahy, dividida entre fazer "o que tem que ser feito" com seu pareiro de mesa ou encontrar saídas para a situação encurralada. Ver o triler aqui pode acabar com a experiência genuína de certos plots, e tem vários, com os protagonistas conduzindo e cercando a moça, sem sabermos ao certo quem. É bem divertido, por mais que seja esquemático e robótico, além de fazer dos dublês naquele restaurante, meros marionetes. Os minutos finais injetam uma adrenalina bem vinda e com uma direção que prende, por mais estúpidos que sejam os vilões. Um bom filme pipoca.
