Bones and All

In the elegant balance of these seemingly incongruous elements, Guadagnino has outdone himself.

The chemistry between Chalamet and Russell is off the charts. Their love is desperate, passionate, true, confused and confounded, perpetually crushing under the ethical crisis they face in killing innocent people to survive, not to mention the fact that they feel very differently about it.

It’s an imagery-first kind of film, and it delivers quite a few that are probably going to stick with me for a while.

The film flows like a Joy Division song: moody and ethereal until it escalates into a burst of sonic violence.

This tender, gory trip through the guts of a nation is blessed with one of those magical instances of casting the right actor in the right part, and it’s impossible to think of someone else who could do justice to this young woman the way that Taylor Russell does.

Bones and All is a heart-tugging portrait of wayward spirits searching for belonging that deadens the genre of cannibal horror into digestible, prestige-glossy arthouse.

It’s a preposterous debacle that might work better as a Halloween skit on Saturday Night Live, but it takes itself seriously, which makes it seem even sillier. I found the result too sick and disgusting to describe, but not interesting enough to care.

Walking out of the theater an hour ago, reflecting on what we had just witnessed. No spoiler alerts here and try to go in with as little knowledge about it as you can. This was a great movie with strong performances all the way around.

Luca Guadagnino's Bones and All is, first and foremost, a beautifully directed road movie with two outstanding lead actors. Their journey of self-discovery, their doubts and backstories, and their repeated attempts to escape disaster are woven together into an atmospheric whole. In this respect, Guadagnino has created a good literary adaptation from the existing novel. However, the underlying story by Camille DeAngelis seems to waver between horror and teen romance, thus aiming to appeal to a specific target audience. The subject matter of ghouls undoubtedly lends itself to a chilling horror film. Here, however, the author, and therefore the film, has opted for a cannibal romance (similar to those featuring vampires), which is not to everyone's taste and is far removed from a true horror film. Therefore, with this film, the viewer's expectations are crucial.

Dude! WTF??!! I got through 30 minutes of this and I had to turn it off! This was totally not what I was expecting. This was just too much for me…and not in a good way!

This movie is awful. Acting/Characters: The acting was terrible and very bland, emotionless. The lead actress was awful. Story: Interesting but it goes nowhere... Some of it makes no sense. This movie rips off "Raw" a foreign film.
