Becky

Becky is a thrilling game of cat-and-mouse that leaves you unsure if the good guy is really that good at all. It’s funny at parts, shocking in parts, but mostly it’s just a great thriller that just so happens to have a 13-year-old girl as the heroine.

Don’t confuse Becky for a smart movie. It won’t teach audiences anything valuable, or even new, about the disease of white supremacist ideology. It won’t leave folks holding hands in solidarity against racism and prejudice at a time when solidarity is like oxygen. It will, however, provide a brief burst of catharsis through the brutal slaughter of white supremacist ideologues, for whatever that catharsis is worth.

Splitting skulls and still managing to hit the brain, Becky is a blood-splattered crowd-pleaser that would destroy at a drive-in.

Becky tends to work best when it revels in the blood-splattered set pieces of its script (written by Ruckus Skye, Lane Skye and Nick Morris), going that extra mile and a half in the gore department (special effects makeup was by Karlee Morse) to create some truly disgusting moments, albeit ones that are laced with a grim sense of humor.

Becky is no “Straw Dogs.” Really, it’s mostly just a nasty genre movie with some gruesome scenes of violence. But it’s served well by a script that doesn’t merely embrace the gimmick of a pubescent girl fighting bad guys — it takes it seriously enough to explore it, at least a little.

The ultra-violent take on “Home Alone” with a precocious teen girl who dispatches bad guys like a killer in a slasher movie? That’s where Becky falls apart.

This ultra-violent, ultra-stupid smarm-bomb deserves to take a few lumps before shuffling off to the digital boneyard.

kevin does an amazing job, just surprising, about lulu, her acting could be better, but she does truly powerful performance too

(Mauro Lanari) I didn't know Rambo had a teenage daughter who trained with the Navy SEALs and acted as a stunt double for Sly.

I respect Kevin James for coming out of his comfort zone and doing something against his type. I will always support artists who want to expand their skills, but unfortunately Mr. James feels miscast here. Not once did I believe he was playing this character and I didn't find him intimidating as I couldn't take him seriously. Throughout the movie I only saw Paul Blart if he turned racist, which I guess made it somewhat enjoyable. However, I think it's the writing that's at fault here and not Kevin James, as the writing gave him nothing to work with and the character itself was so underdeveloped.
