Windfolk: Sky is just the beginning
Windfolk has some nice ideas, and some of those ideas even play out quite nicely. Flying around the bright and blooming world is fun, but everything else is a bit of a bore. Combat is far too simple and the repetition kicks in early on. It’s a skinny offering, even with two different game modes. It all boils down to fly here and shoot your gun until everybody is dead. We’ve come further than that, I’m afraid, and players expect a little more.
I had no expectations for it going in, but it shows immediately that it can do one thing exceptionally well. If they could have made a game that lived up to that — or even came close to living up to that — then it could’ve been worth playing. As it stands, though, it just feels like a lot of wasted potential.
Windfolk is a game so turgid that it almost managed to put me off video games. Painfully flaccid combat and boorish level design both serve to undermine any fun that flying might offer. The subtitle promises that 'Sky is just the Beginning', but after this showing I'm rather hoping it's the end instead.

Fractal Fall´s first game is a decent aerial "shooter" set in beautiful levels and full of interesting, yet undeveloped, ideas. Flight mechanics are ok, but gunplay is too basic.

Windfolk is a short but enjoyable time when you're flying through the air at speed but the game often slams the brakes on to force you into more confined areas or weak combat which doesn't take advantage of the flight mechanics at all.
