Toy Story 3 is clearly targeted at a much younger demographic of players than the vast majority of Xbox 360 releases, but there's plenty of entertainment value for young adults that grew up on the Toy Story movies.
This fun take on the Pixar movie has lots of entertaining content for younger players, but control issues and a lack of depth limit its appeal.
It's all clearly aimed at kids, but if you let yourself, you'll find it easy to get sucked right in alongside the young'uns. Toy Story 3 is full of non-corrupting sandbox play that's genuinely addicting. As for as movie games go, you can do much worse.

Toy Story 3 is a very special game. The story mode is passable. There are 8 levels that loosely follow the plot of the movie, mixed in with non-canon levels like Buzz Video Game and Muffin to Fear. Bonnie's House is a real standout and was probably an inspiration for Rosie’s Room in It Takes Two. The levels are creative, packed with collectibles, and encourage you to replay them to find everything hidden throughout. While the story mode isn't particularly long, it's a fun adaptation that captures the charm of the movie surprisingly well. There is a whole other mode known as Toy Box Mode. This is where the game truly shines. Filled to the brim with secrets, collectibles, customization options, side missions, and even a handful of glitches, Toy Box Mode can keep you busy for hundreds of hours. There is so much charm packed into this mode, from the music to the Pixar references hidden around every corner. It feels like Avalanche Software was given the freedom to make the ultimate digital toy box, and they absolutely delivered. This is the kind of game you can put on for 20 minutes and somehow still be playing three hours later. Disney's "Get Connected" doesn't get enough credit. If you grew up watching Disney Channel in the late 2000s and early 2010s, you probably remember Disney's Get Connected segments. They were short commercials that showed off Disney video games, and for a while it felt like I saw the Toy Story 3 one almost every day. Back then it was just another ad between shows. Looking back, it's funny how an ad ended up introducing me to a game that would become such a huge part of my childhood. I still remember the day my dad brought this home for me. I put the disc into my Xbox 360 and started playing immediately. Before long, my friend came over and we spent the entire day messing around in Toy Box Mode. I lived with my mom, and he lived about two hours away from me, so we didn't get to see each other very often. Luckily, we had Xbox Live and Pinger to keep us connected. Most days, all I wanted to do was get online and play Toy Story 3 with him. I was so obsessed with the game that I even emailed Avalanche Software asking them to add online multiplayer. Of course, my email was probably lost among thousands of other kids asking for the exact same thing. As I got older, my trips to my dad's house became less frequent. Whenever I did make it up there, I'd usually end up staying at my friend's house so we could play. Every sleepover somehow turned into Toy Story 3. Every conversation about games eventually led back to Toy Story 3. Even when we were playing something completely different online, we'd still find ourselves talking about Toy Box Mode and all the things we wished we could do in it. Between the two of us, I have no doubt we put over 200 hours into this game. I didn't actually 100% the game until I was 19 years old. I'm 26 now. I don't play video games nearly as much as I used to. A few months ago, I even sold my Xbox. I still love games and keep up with the industry, but it's different now. Work, responsibilities, and life in general have a way of replacing the hobbies you once spent every waking hour on. 2026 has been a huge year for gaming, but something changed last week. The announcement of Toy Story 3 Remastered genuinely got me excited. Toy Story 3 isn't a perfect game. It probably isn't even one of the greatest games ever made. However, It is one of the best movie tie-in games ever made. But for me, it represents friendship, childhood, and a period of life that I'll never get back. Every collectible, every mission, every dumb glitch in Toy Box Mode brings back the greatest memories I’ve had with gaming. You already know I’m preordering the remaster on Switch 2.

Une adaptation fidèle du matériau original au niveau visuel et sonore, avec des niveaux plutôt jolis et variés. Par contre, les phases de plates-formes manquent de précision, le récit n'est pas suffisamment développé, et le frame-rate souffre de chutes.

With a diverse set of gameplay areas, countless missions, challenges, and collectibles, and the unlimited potential of the Toy Box mode, Toy Story 3 is easily one of the best movie-license games of all times and the perfect way to enhance the film trilogy and carry on the exploits of these delightful and entertaining characters to infinity and beyond…

Toy Story 3 isn't perfect, with some loose controls and a dull plotline to follow, seemingly more for the convention of having a plot in these games than anything else. The Toy Box mode adds a whole lot to the game, however, propelling it far beyond what a typical tie-in game offers.

The co-op levels and action bits are okay, but the Toy Box is magical stuff indeed. [Sept 2010, p.103]

Toy Story 3 is an example of how to do a license right. With great cooperative play, a short, fun story mode, and an inventive new Toy Box mode, this is one game that's easy to recommend to anyone who games with family.

One of the best kids games on 360 but, unusually for Pixar, with little grown-up appeal. [Oct 2010, p.99]

Toy Story isn't just a game for kids; fans of the trilogy should have no reservations about picking this one up.

If Cars (the original video game that was a pseudo-sequel to the original film) can entertain adult gamers even though it was clearly designed for kids, what does that say about a Toy Story game that fails to amuse the fans who grew up with the franchise?

I loved playing this game, but there’s a glitch that keeps me from passing a section in the Buzz Lightyear Video Game level, so I kind of have to skip the game in general. I’ve been stuck there for almost three years, so all I could do in the game was play the previous two levels and the town area (which is fun). I’m only ranking it so low because the people who designed the game were too careless to fix this glitch (which seems a lot of people are experiencing), considering how amazingly fun this game **** to that point. If there’s a way to overcome or fix this glitch, I will possibly rank it higher.
