Activision what the actual **** you stupid dumb company no wonder you left this game

THE GAMEPLAY IS A TOTAL WIPEOUT: The most egregious sin is the "Slam" mechanic. Mapping the downward slam to the same button as the grind (Triangle/Y) is a design choice so baffling it borders on sabotage. Instead of hitting a beautiful rail, you constantly slam directly into the pavement, killing your momentum and your patience. The physics are equally broken; your skater feels weightless one moment and like a magnet for glitches the next, often clipping through ramps or launching into the stratosphere for no reason. GRAPHICS AND PRESENTATION: The game looks and feels like it is two generations behind previous titles and other titles today. Visually, the game is an eyesore. Even with the last-minute cel-shaded "art style" they slapped on to hide the lack of detail, it looks like a budget PlayStation 2 title. The environments are sterile, lifeless, and incredibly small compared to the sprawling maps of Underground or American Wasteland. The "missions" are repetitive chores that lack the charm and creativity the series was once known for. THE "ONLINE-ONLY" DISASTER : The decision to make the levels social hubs was a mistake. Having random players teleporting around and causing lag in a game that requires frame-perfect timing is a nightmare. It feels less like a skating park and more like a crowded, glitchy lobby. THE FINAL VERIDCT: With the release of the stellar Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remaster and the more recent THPS 3 + 4 Remaster, there is absolutely no reason to touch this game. It is a hollow shell of a franchise that deserved better. If you find a physical copy in a bargain bin, leave it there—the plastic case is worth more than the data on the disc.

Actually I played through this, my first reaction was quite biased by overall opinions and trying version 1.0 of the game. But honestly, I then played through the latest update and it's really not a bad game. I'm a huge fan of THPS games. This one is completely different. But it's good. I really like it. Open your mind and give this one a chance. Honestly.

Easily my least favorite game of all time. Subpar graphics, generic level design, annoying glitches, bad controls, and zero fun to be had.

I was excited for this game coming out. Instead what I and the community got was a bare-bones, unplayable mess. They also come after u with loading screens that the PS1 games didn't have much of. This game wasn't the fault of Robomodo for once, this was Activision trying to make money before the license agreement with Tony Hawk ended.

This game is the feces that is produced when shame eats too much stupidity. Robomodo was neither equipped nor prepared to so much as create a tech demo for a Tony Hawk game, much less continue on the numerical legacy of extreme sports gaming's most treasured franchise. 1 because the game is mostly functional, just conpletely bereft of any of the charm, humor, fun, or really any shred of established identity the former series installments had.

Absolutely appalled to see how terrible this game was. Gameplay is nothing like the games prior in the series. A disgrace to the franchise as a whole. The soundtrack is awful. Nearly impossible to get through some missions. I can go on for an entire day to explain how a $40 game can bring a person's hopes down a **** ton. I can't even play the game without turning off my internet connection on the console, let alone no multiplayer support anymore. There's not even split screen...SPLIT SCREEN! A feature so easy to add in. It's almost like they farted in a room, all stayed in there to baskin in the ambience, decimate on the game disc, held a B-rating skateboarding video game ritual and then called it a day. Humiliating.

When all is said and done, this game doesn’t deserve to be called Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 and most certainly shouldn’t make its way onto your download queue. I feel like Activision withheld it from early reviews because the company knew it's a butt ****. I know it’s tempting to give this one a go, especially after the years of awesomeness the Pro Skater franchise has provided in the past, but it doesn’t match up to today’s standards. Avoid this one like the Black Plague.

I could say everything wrong with this game, but that would be honoring it. By far the worst xbox one game and one of the worst I've played. In one sentence my review "killed a great franchise."

Overall a nice game, brings back memories. Definitely doesn't add anything new to the series, it's good old THPS. The missions are quite repetitive - you do more or less the same thing in training grounds, then in a high school, rooftops, and even in space. But then again, this is exactly how the series have always been, so I can't really complain. Music selection is quite nice. There are a few things where the developers felt a bit lazy - there is no animation after you fall down - you magically respawn rather than stand up. When you finish/quit a mission, you always start in the spawn point of the level. This could've been a bit more continuous. Multiplayer might've been fun when the game was published, but I can't find any other player in last couple of levels so it's more or less dead except for the first three levels at this point. Overall, this is your old fun and repetitive THPS game with shinier graphics in ps4. Don't get disappointed by expecting anything more. I'd give it a 7/10, but I'm taking one more because the game does NOT have split screen multiplayer. Just how lazy were the developers?

By far the worst game I've played on PS4. If someone paid me to play this I still would refuse. I recently went back and played Tony Hawks Underground on PS3 and the controls are much better which just shows you how bad this is. The makers of this monstrosity should be imprisoned for crimes against skateboarding

Everyone who gave this a rating in color red is a legend. This game is awful the way it is, and it should be thrown away, into the world of bad games, such as Flappy Bird, Bubsy 3D, Superman 64, and Sonic '06. This game should not exist.

Robomodo has destroyed this game. THPS is a classic and it's a travesty to see the franchise go down like this. I feel bad for tony hawk and all of skateboarding for this piece of ****

The levels are bland. Let me start off by saying that. They feel open and don't give you that 'exiting Tony Hawk feeling' that you get from the older ****'s just the little things, like you automatically do a wall ride if you hit a wall, but, in the other games you had to press a button while you were hitting a wall. This takes all the skill out of some of the tricks, adding to the bland feeling that this game gives off. Also there is one other thing that really annoys me. Let me explain: in the old Tony Hawk games restarting was easy. You thought: 'oh, i'm not going to complete this mission in time'. You hit start, press down once or twice and hit restart. The load times were minimal or none and you were back in the game, skating along. In the first Tony Hawk game It took me about 5 seconds to restart and finish loading. In Tony Hawk 5 however, to restart you have to hit Start, press down 4 times, hit restart. Then it comes up with dialogue saying 'do you want to restart?' Then you had to hit 'yes', wait for it to load and FINALLY you were back in the game. After a while this gets aggravating, and makes you want to scream. Also they messed up the placements of items. In the old Tony Hawk you would have a certain amount of minutes or seconds to get however many objects, that were scattered around the map. In this game you might have to get a large number of items, maybe 50, for example, and they are all grouped in one place. Oh, here is 15 right next to the spawn! Grind over here and get the other 35! Now let's look at the multiplayer aspect. Collision? No! You are in a small space with a bunch of other skaters doing... nothing. Sure, you can turn on voice chat, but i'd rather play singleplayer. Actually, I wouldn't! BECAUSE IT ****! I give this a 2/10. Note that this is an above average score. Don't buy this game, not even if you want to complete your Tony Hawk collection. 60 dollars is waaaay too much to pay for this piece of crap. There are conspiracy theories that Activision's contract is running out with Tony so they wanted to make their probably final game in the series so bad as a punishment to curse the next company that might end up with it. Personally I think this is not true. Cos' it's just a **** game. End of story.

First of all it's not a bad game, not at all, I really enjoyed myself while playing it. It's pretty nostalgic and it's very fun to play, also the soundtrack was very well chosen and the fact that it has some top skaters from the present day only adds up to all these positive points of the game. But there is an ugly side to all of this, the game was and still is full of bugs, small ones and bigger ones. It has been patched multiple times since day one but Robomodo still hasn't been able to fix it all. Another ugly side is that they removed lots of great things that were available in previous games such as stepping of your board and acid dropping and they didn't add anything in exchange. I guess to old-skool fans of the series it could be both appealing as well as repulsive. It could be appealing cause of it's nostalgic value and just the fact of it being the first game in many years and on the next gen of consoles. But it could be repulsive because of the lack of soul and originality in comparison to the previous games in the series and because it's so bug-ridden. My personal opinion as a fan of the series is that TH:PS5 is a pretty fun game for a while and it has a lot of potential but Robomodo just couldn't deliver for a full 100% and that's just very sad. I hope it doesn't mean the end of the series and that maybe in a few years we'll see a new game in this series which will live up to its potential and won't feel as rushed as this one. TL;DR: Do I recommend this game??? Yes, pick it up for a few bucks, I just recently picked it up at my local game store for less than 15 € and I was actually pretty pleased to play it.

This game is an example of what will happen when Publishers decide that they not only want to manipulate peoples soft spots and nostalgia for a huge series like Pro Skater that hasn't gotten a sequel in years, and try to turn this nostalgia factor into pure revenue. This idea, just as well, would be if the developers/Publishers decided to skip BUG TESTING. THERE IS SO MANY BUGS IN THIS GAME, THAT I WOULD BE SURPRISED IF ANY OF THE DEVELOPERS OR PUBLISHERS TESTED MORE THAN THE BASIC FUNDAMENTALS OF PHYSICS AT ALL.

Just a quick note: This review will be based off the latest version of the game that has been released. With that out of the way, though, it's still not worth the asking price of around £15, or £30 with some small DLC thrown in. From my own experience, I have not been able to reproduce some of the more serious glitches and errors in the game, so for some, it might be enough to like it. As for me..well, what do you think, eejit? I have played a good portion of the THPS games throughout my childhood and teenage years, and I found them addicting, and every now and then, I go back to them to relive the good days. This game, however, makes me feel a little bit miffed. Here's why. Imagine Robomodo stripping out all of the stuff that made the games, like living, interactive environments, create-a-skater, building your own special trick setup, and took it to the bare minimum possible. Now, stop imagining it, it's real, and it's THPS5. Where to start? The glitches notwithstanding, the game feels really bare and more of a beta build of the older games. The controls are really confusing, to add to that. To keep your speed up, you press R2. That was never a thing in the older games, so why now? While I'm on that subject, why change Triangle for being Grind to a slam? You have a good chance of screwing up a combo thanks to the slam. You can make it so you have to double-tap the button, but a better option, would be to bin it entirely. Even worse, when you're doing grind and manual tricks, you can't bail. Now, the graphics. They seem flat and boring, as if 20 years of graphics technology was thrown out just for the sake of saving space. Everything has the cell-shaded look that appears to try to hide how bad it looks. As for content? Where is it? There's around 8 levels of boring, basic parks to play, and even trying to build your own makes you feel like you're being strangled. It's all very restricted and controlled. As for skaters? You have around 12 or so, with no ability to make your own. Well..that's not strictly true, you can make some awful amalgam entity with the limited customise function. All that alone makes it bad, but, let's throw in some of the glitches that I've ran into. You can end up partly buried in the level geometry when you bail in the right conditions. I found out that you can grind on the edges of certain pits even when you cover them with parts of a quarter-pipe in Create-A-Park. Oh yeah, and QP corners, when you bail, seem to have no collision planes at all, so you go through them. So, with all that, do not, under any circumstances, buy this game. It's not worth £60, it's not worth £45, it's not worth £30, it's not even worth £15, £10 or even £5, you would have to pay someone to take this game away. Do you know what I recommend instead? Take your £10, buy a copy of THUG2, and install THUG Pro, a mod for the game. The mod has access to nearly all levels from every game, and even one game that's based off the same engine. Those guys took time and energy to create the ultimate THPS game, but Robomodo got it so wrong, and they're supposed to be pros. Don't buy the game at all, it's a waste of space, and I want Activision to suffer badly because they let it get published.

Don't buy this piece of **** If you like THPS series, please buy any THPS for PS1, PS2, Dreamcast or THPS 2X for Xbox original. Activision and Robomodo are kidding with us.

Can only do a handful of tricks, not included are very standard trick such as 360 flips and double kick/heel flips. Graphics would suit a bad ps3 game, not brand new ps4. Avoid at all costs!

I LOVE Tony Hawk Pro Skater. It is the only game I ever felt like I was good at. But this is not that game. This is a cheap rip off that I would expect to find in an app store. Playing this game makes me ponder the great mysteries of life. Does God exist? What is the point of it all? How did ANYONE think this was ok to release. I seen that for black friday they are generously lowering the price to $39.99. You couldnt give me 39.99 to play this game again

TL;DNR: "They should have left well alone. THPS died peacefully with THPS4." They simply should have left the series where it lay. It's 2015, so bringing a once-fantastic series back after near-enough 13 years, and changing nothing for the better is just one faceplant with a large dose of salt in the wound. Fortunately, I didn't spend any money on this, and I STRONGLY advise you don't. Physically, graphically and regarding content, it has changed very little from THPS4, so why it costs full price of a modern-day game is beyond me. This game is an insult to the series which, as I stated above, should have ended with THPS4 or at least, this game should have come out about 10 years ago. Then, everything that is bad about this game MAY be forgivable. I can only imagine that this is an aged Tony Hawks trying to go back to the glory days, like your Great/ Grandparents talking about the War, trying to relive his youth and the old glory days. But, instead, just kicking up dust that wind up making people cough and leading to irrelevancy.

Tony Hawk is finally back after all these years. It’s been a while since the Hawk has been in top form. THPS3 and THPS4 are hard to top, everyone knows that. Of course, you also have the stellar Underground series and the great American Wasteland. Both games hit all the right notes and had all the right pieces to make a top shelf skating game. They had great career modes, lots of pro skaters, excellent and addicting gameplay and tons of cool levels. Never soft is no longer in the picture, but Activision is still here. They’re doing it all this time around. But the results may not be what fans of the series have come to expect. TH5 1 THPS5 is not what you think. It’s not the amazing, fun and beautiful game you thought you would get. When I first heard this game was getting released, I thought it would be very similar to the old games, but new, fresh and creative. We don’t get that here folks, we just don’t. It deeply saddens me to say that THPS5 is merely a thrown-together, ugly and barebones mess. I have many complaints with this game. First of all, $60? That is one of the biggest rip-offs in the history of games. It should be about $5. One of the biggest disappointments are the visuals. It looks like a bad PS3 game. The character models are a mix between realistic and cel-shaded. The environments are very bland, open and empty. It’s all just hideous. The frame rate drops often and there are several glitches. It is just poorly developed to be quite honest. The audio isn’t any better than the visuals either. There are only a few songs and they are quickly repeated, meaning you will get sick of the music very quickly. The game is full of irregularities and inconsistencies. There are camera issues, the difficulty is uneven and the gameplay itself is very dumbed down and bland. I can go on and on about this game’s flaws, but let’s get to the point. This is not true Tony Hawk Pro Skater. There are several glitches. The levels are empty and boring, not to mention the lack of NPC’s or any other form of life is completely absent. The visuals and sound design are poor. I am just very disappointed that the developers didn’t spend more time on the game. This is a very respected series in gaming and to have the name tarnished like this is immensely sad. If you are desperate to play THPS5 for yourself , give it a rent. That is about all it’s worth anyway.

I absolutely love this game to bits. Wayy better than all the other Tony Hawk games. I showed it to all my friends and they all loved it. 10/10 would play again. Well worth the $70 it costs

How can Tony Hawk ****? This game is the one you fell in loved back in 2000! It's really a good skating game, but all the sudden, I felt like the game lost it's touch from the original 2000, but regardless, I still fell in love with this game!

I gave it a 1/10 because it reminded what the industry is still capable of selling us. This is only the extreme example of what is being pumped out every month. I can't help but think about endless concourses of talented young men and women slaving away to make these worthless piles excrement for companies that clearly don't know what their customers want -- Instead they make what their customers are willing to tolerate. Now somebody pass me the brain bleach...

Its not that bad, starting a review like that doesn't sound good but its true. Tony Hawks pro Skater has a couple of things going its way, most notable my childhood memories. The gameplay feels reminiscent and surprisingly fluid. This game still makes you feel like a skateboarder and all around bad ass at times. The new Slam move was detrimental at times but helpful in others. Customizing your player feels restricted as if theres not many options. There are however loads of choices once unlocked. The park creator feels okay and just the same as older Tony Hawk games. The Game technically speaking is a mess. Long and abundant loading screens and some frame rate issues at certain time. Apparently there are some pretty big bugs as well but none that i have encountered. The game graphically is also not as bad as every one is saying, this game doesn't look like a ps4 game but some people saying it looks like a ps2 game are over reacting a little. All in all this is not that terrible ****, full price is a bit much. Id recommend getting a used copy, waiting for a price drop or a sale. Id also only recommend this game to people who played the older games.

Probably the most disappoint game of the year in 2015, and it probably will kill the Tony Hawk Franchise. This game is a blatant cash grab and no one cared about this game

One word. WHY. Why did this have to happen to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater? We all love the series, it's fantastic! Pro Skater 1 and 2 was fantastic! Pro Skater 3 and 4 was great! But this game is easily the worst in the series. I was hyped for this game, a Tony Hawk Pro Skater game on the PS4! But NOPE! This game was a complete waste, and it had so much potential! The key thing that Activision wanted was to include online-interaction. Surprise, it ****. There is no option to play on your own, messing up your single-player experience. It's hard to pull off the Glendale Grind when you see some skater in the distance getting his board stuck in the wall. Speaking of which, this game is buggy as crap. You are going to have glitches happen at least once in your playthrough. The developers said they were aware of the bugs, and that they were going to fix it. Which will make the game at least playable, but even cleaning up the game won't solve it's many problems. The level design is bland, and there is zero physics when it comes to playing this game. All-in-all, THPS 5 is not good, it's very bad; the skating mechanics are still enjoyable, for the most part, but the constant FPS drops, the choppy gameplay, and the fact that there is almost no connection to the original games makes this game bad. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 gets a 3/10.

I haven't even played this, yet I know it ****. I remember playing this back on the Playstation 1, I think it was Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3, or something. I would give this game a -1, but I can't so yeah... 0/10

Fans of the Tony hawk series will probably look back at the old games and remember all the goods times it brought them, with it's great humor, solid level design and understandable **** the most part. But Pro Skater 5 is very **** has it's moments of enjoyment when playing it but there are to many other horrible problems that ruin the experience. Constant glitches with physics and collision detection make landing tricks and getting around the map horribly difficult and aseptically a chore. The map design it's self is a step back from the old games, The old Tony Hawk games had interesting maps with hidden parts, Interesting Gaps and just felt all around immersive. The new maps feel just slapped together without to much thought and the parts that do feel thought out aren't that unique.There is a small list of skaters you can choose from and also customize your....sort of. It's more like you slightly alter other skaters into your own, witch is somewhat of a horrible why to handle character creation. Music to the game almost felt like everyone who worked on the game all picked some songs and put them on a playlist, some songs feel extremely out of place. If your looking for a good Skateboarding game For PS4/XBone I must say your out of luck at the moment, Skate 2-3 still hold the crown for console Skateboarding games.

Another cash grab. This game offers nothing new then the originals. The graphics can be compared to 2 generations ago and the game play is the same old button mashing crap. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 sadly fails to capture any of the fun or engaging gameplay elements that once made the series great. It's buggy, the controls feel clunky, and the game just lacks fun. First and foremost, the game does not deserve to cost $60. There are a total of 9 maps, all of which feel small and thrown together without much care for their actual enjoyment levels. Nothing about any of them feel charming or noteworthy, instead feeling like 'The token school level' or 'Let's go to space, I guess'. None of them feel like something I'd want to play, given the choice. The UI is flawed and spends a lot of time sending the player through the same clunky menus over and over for no real practical reason. The addition of a new mechanic, the 'slam', might have been interesting had it not been bound to the grind button. As it stands, all it's good for now is throwing off your combos. Lots of elements of the older games are missing, such as the ability to shift your grind and manual type mid-move. Additionally, a significant number of techniques are locked behind the special meter now (such as pretty much every special manual like the handstand and most grinds beyond 'tailslide'). Because the bar doesn't fully register being full until after your combo ends, you get one special bar per combo, making it very difficult to create high-scoring lines at once. The new powerups (such as giant skater, flaming board, and double-jump) are level-specific and feel incrediby gimmicky without adding much to the game. Various bugs make the game hard to play too. Grinds breaking for no reason, bailing instead of landing a vert... it all makes it very hard to play the game. Gameplay is nothing more than an endless string of "Get huge combo in X area". "Get huge combo to stop your head exploding" (oh right, for some reason bighead is now a game mechanic? Odd decision), "Get lots of points by grinding", "get lots of points from manuals", before moving onto the next area and doing it all over again, but with bigger numbers as the objective. Just rent it. Probably no more than two nights, really. That's all you'll need to get tired of it.

I joined this site just to review this game. It's great, the critics are being way to hard and expecting too much. Yes it is old school, but its fun, engaging with challenges and great music. If you liked the old Tony Hawk games, you will love this. It would be 10 but there are some very minor glitches. Get over it, its a great game!

The game play is very loose and at time seems like there is no purpose or objective . The game doesn't flow well and does not draw you in to keep playing it gets boring and repetitive very quickly . The maps seem like they are not as well thought out as previous Tony Hawk games and don't flow very well especially from the multiplayer aspect. The graphics seem to be a lack there of playing on a next gen counsel I expected way more, but what I received was early on PS3 type graphics with cartoonish characters and maps . I can game is playable but if you're expecting a Tony Hawk pro skater 1 or 2 type experience you're not going to get it . The game doesnt seem to be that ground breaking nothing new and exciting and doesn't change things up enough to make it stand out . This is just another rushed game that wasn't well thought out and pushed to market to get Tony hawk fans to buy it . Wait for it to go in the used and or clearance section , I wouldn't spend $60 on it again . I wish there was a way to get my money back from this worthless terrible game . We shouldn't put up with this and keep allowing them to pump out worthless crap games . It is almost like false advertisement they show this great game and when you get it finally it is absolutely terrible .

This has got to be one of the most disappointing game releases for a long, long time in my personal opinion. The Tony Hawk's franchise was always considered one of my favourites; both for the endless hours of quality gameplay and sincere sentimental value. However, I would hardly consider this to be a part of such an almost flawless and unforgettable franchise in the gaming Universe. I have to agree with the vast majority on this one and say this game is nothing more than a rushed, wasteful piece of gaming that the developers should be disappointed with themselves, for putting such a lack of thought and ability into. I have tried everything to like this game but the poor digital quality, graphics, lack of features and poorly thought out concept of it all does simply not make it possible for me to even give this game a second thought. It's a shame if this franchise draws the line here to end on such a wasteful note, but they have a lot to redeem themselves for, if at all possible. There's a lot of embarrassed and highly disappointed fans of this franchise, including myself, due to this pure waste of money. The only way I'd consider somebody to pick this game up, is if they see it for sale at £5 in a Charity shop or something. Even then, it is very questionable. Highly harsh words, but the reviews of this purely speak for themselves.

A shame to the series and an insult to the memory of all of us who were excited to see a game we thought long gone recreated for a modern console. Background: I was raised in the 90s. I lived in SoCal, had a skateboard, wore Vans, and idolized Tony Hawk and the games that I played on my ye olden Play Stations. Hearing that they were trying to release an updated version of the game got me excited, but I am always skeptical these days. I rented the game, and I even wanted the few bucks I wasted on the day's rental back. There is little redeeming factor to this game. Basic gameplay bugs will have you falling through ramps on your way back down, and any attempt to play online--the most appealing feature for fans of older games--will be met with crashes and disconnects. Not even the delay of an 8GB day one patch can salvage together the brokenness of this game. This is a cash grab on nostalgia, and literally fourth from the bottom on Metacritic's critic score for a reason, if the 28 negative and 4 mixed reviews weren't a clue. Pass this one up, and preserve your memory of the fun you had in the past.

The game could have easily kept the same controls and core game play from the originals, added new locations, new music, and highly detailed environments and been a 9. But since it failed on the key element of the game that makes it enjoyable, I give it a paltry 1. I wanted the cost of my rental back when I was finished with what I could force myself to play/

Game Rating (3.5): Like you've got to be kidding. Is this some kid of joke? Someone please tell me cause this is the most basic and simple Tony Hawk game since the first two Pro Skater game. Such a shame that you call this next gen.

Been waiting for years for another THPS to come out, but this game feels like it was rushed. Its not even fun! Loading screens seem to be broken! Played for an hour and sick of the music already.
