To The Moon is one of those games you instantly fall in love with. With it's simple, but elegant design, incredible writing, and thrilling, heartfelt tale, To The Moon is more story than game, but what a story it is.

To the Moon is about life and death. It's almost art in the sense that it can truly make you care for what happens in the game. It pretends to be a traditional JRPG and it plays like a point-and-click adventure. It comes with some restrictions, but the sublime story telling on offer here will linger in your thoughts for a long time.

Despite its short playtime, To the Moon manages to move you emotionally for the vast majority of the gameplay. The story's writing is solid and full of major plot twists; additionally, its narrative pacing is perfect, leaving no dull moments and letting you fully enjoy the experience. Add to this a simply wonderful sound design, featuring a small but beautifully crafted soundtrack, and the result is the best narrative adventure I have ever played. Hats off to Freebird Games!

I absolutely love this game. Its tragic and heartwarming theme is wonderful. The art style is simple but fantastic. The music doesn't have a lot of variety but every piece, especially the one later in the game, is perfect for the theme and pleasing to the ear and heart. I have been gaming since the early 80s, put tens of thousands of hours into games, love rpgs/fps/horror and highly recommend this to anyone with a heart or anyone who wants to have a game make them feel something. Fans of Earthbound, Undertale, etc will likely find the game as worthwhile and rewarding as I have. I hope you find the ~4 hours to play this gem.

In a never ending discussion about whether games can be perceived as an art form To the Moon is a proof they can. [February 2012, p.61]

An experience above all genres built on mundane concepts will hit gamer with its story of love, loss and dealing with one's destiny. Balancing on edge of interactivity and kitsch has turned out well and even though some lines have been made too sweet and the other ones too complicated the moments when those two meet each other have no parallel in video games.

It's equally silly and serious, a frivolous adventure that becomes infinitely more meaningful as you trek deeper and deeper into it. And yet, I can't quite call To the Moon a great "game," exactly, because for as much as To the Moon is something you play, its attempts at interactivity are often relegated to the sidelines in favor of pure narrative.

The story is good enough to recommend this game despite its relatively weak gameplay.

The silver lining in all of this is that the game is kept compact, and To the Moon can be finished in a sitting or two, before it really wears out its welcome.

To the Moon, kesinlikle güzel ve duygusal bir oyun.

It's is no game at all. It is cartoon, book, whatever, but not the game. 95% of 'game' time is not interactive and 95% of these 5% can be changed to "press any key". I can't explain these high ratings myself. I think the game must have something more than good plot, but not in this case, apparently. P.S. The story itself is very touching and interesting enough.

I think it became a trend to say they cried at this game. I don't get why, they probably haven't played Shadow of the Colossus yet. It was ok, I had some fun with it but I wouldn't ever play it again. The dialogues are cheesy, especially the funfair part with those drawings, the music gets annoying after so many repetitions. And the story is the mix of Inception and a Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
