An interesting turn-based fantasy game with nice mechanics and a bit too-long sessions.

As fun and impressive as The Last Spell is, I almost feel like it’s aged me. I am the type of person who goes in for long, heavy board games, loves to lose so that I can go again bolder and wiser, and relishes gnawing on two or more game-changing possibilities. Yet, I turned away from The Last Spell more than once because I couldn’t bear the idea of going through the stress again. In the right mood, The Last Spell is a gift and treasure. Still, you must not only be the kind of person who wants the densest strategy RPG experience ever created, but you also need to be in the mood to weigh twenty or so variables with each action, lest the house of cards you’ve constructed topple down.

In all, The Last Spell is a genuinely enjoyable game that allows for strategic planning and makes use of a dark atmosphere. That being said there are times when the atmosphere feels almost too crushing and difficult - leaving it up to the player to latch onto hope as best they can. The Last Spell is the end of days for this world wreaked by war, and your group of Heroes is all that stands between what remains of humanity and a slow demise as the fog encroaches and the undead approach. The dark atmosphere and challenging gameplay can make for a really satisfying experience however, and it is in the darkest of times that one’s worth as a hero is truly shown.

What an incredible game, one of the best expeirences I had in a while. Can't wait for the new DLC!

Honestly, I would have given this 9,5 instead of 10 but I still believe this is more deserving of a 10 than a 9. That being said, this is one of those games that really get you hooked. Its difficulty is unforgiving while you learn the ins and outs of the game, but it never is unfair. Yes, RNG can be bad, but you can always adapt to that RNG except for the first night of any given map.
The Last Spell is great in every sense, the OST fits the vibe and the atmosphere incredibly, with tracks that will stay with you for long. The combat is engaging up to the point it creates addiction, I would often spend much of my day thinking about the game while doing other stuff. The management of the town seems really simple, but once you learn some advanced mechanics it becomes a real challenge to build a town that best suit your run. The only thing that needs tuning is the balance of some perks and weapons, as some are never viable while others are 100% of the time the best option.
Excellent game, if challenging turn-based strategy games are something you might be interested in, give this one a try.

This game is a nostalgic mix of old turn-based tile strategy games and some warcraft 3 custom games i used to play. I was immediately hooked and just beat my first city. Unfortunately, as the game progresses, the flaws really start to bring the game down. The entire point of the these long (5+ hour) runs is to survive and build your base. However, it is more often than not, if your base lost one or two buildings, not only do you lose those buildings with the upgrades you gave them, but the end of the round punishment is so taxing that you might as well restart the run. The same goes with losing a hero. You most likely will need to restart since that hero's value could be your entire day's gold, which will pace you into wiping the next round. If the game was fair and played by its own rules, i might be fine with such a challenge, however the fog mechanic, which for an expensive price, can be pushed back, but ultimately makes it so enemies will appear in one turn, go to your hero and STUN them, which usually means your hero will die, and thus its game over. Keep in mind, this game ceases to be any sort of 'strategy' when you cant see what enemies will attack next. So the user needs to pay gold and 2-4 workers to make this game remain as a strategy. Another annoying enemy health sponge, will walk to your walls in 2 turns, detonate, not destroy the walls, but one-hit your tanky hero hiding behind the wall. It's just not fun and feels cheap.I commend the amount of defenses you can build in this game, but some defenses are useless money traps. The crossbow defense, for instance, is incredibly weak, even at it's 3rd upgrade. It's inaccurate, does little damage, and often shoots the wrong enemy. Why even add this Material waste? The concept of auto defenses are so cool, yet the game actively punishes you for using any of it! Catapults as well; expensive to build and have two AOE shots per Night. So about 6-10 mana's worth of damage if we compare it to what a hero can do. A simple mana potion can be bought for 10 gold, which makes the catapult yet another useless defense in this game. Did i mention the default is that if defenses somehow manage to kill an enemy, you get no exp for it?You will also learn in the game that not all weapon types were born equal. A common hand-crossbow will easily outpace a Rare hammer since the hammer move-set is garbage and it's stun is unreliable. And who cares when you can give any character a high stun chance. Despite this game's originality, it just doesnt feel good when a cheap move from the game costs you a 5 hour run. Anyway, i still like this game but it's flaws bring it down to a 7/10

A roguelike tower defence game that doesn’t throw any punches in relation to its story, pixelated graphics and killer soundtrack. I’m sure you’ll have a blast on the pursuit to banish all magic with The Last Spell.

The Last Spell made me realize that a siege is the perfect video game scenario. It allows you to focus on a single area, and gives the player a chance to customize their base. It also lends itself to a small group of heroes standing bravely against a horde of faceless enemies. Combine that with other popular features such as roguelike development, and you have a pretty fun game. But spend some time with The Last Spell, and you will see how differently it plays.

Pra quem curte jogos táticos com gestão de base/grupo, esse é o jogo. Vale cada centavo. Único ponto negativo é que algumas runs são bastante longas e cansativas, mas vale muito a pena

The Last Spell combines RPG, Tower Defense, and City Builder genres, with the extermination of numerous hordes as seen in They Are Billions, managing combat with the beloved turn-based system. The problem is precisely here: each run is a complex and slow chess match that can last a very long time, so those expecting quick sessions may be disappointed.

A hard and exhausting tactical tower defense roguelike, but one that will excite the hardcore players.

Excellent game of those unknown indies that should be better known in this world and others too,
Music: excellent, piano, rock, metal, well thought out for the occasion and for each moment of the game, it is not a tiring soundtrack or one that gets boring or tiresome.
Graphics: Attractive pixel art, very colorful, beautiful effects on abilities, avatar or character customization, quite attractive neon and psychedelic colors, imposing final bosses with a masterful color palette.
Difficulty: Challenger, starting soft and building up night by night, wave by wave, defense by defense; becoming a great challenge that makes you rethink your strategies, but not impossible (don't be scared).
Playability and Fun: Very assured, strategy lovers cannot pass up this delicacy, it is not only a tower defense but it goes further, being a turn-based tactical rpg, with varied options in weapons, under construction, the Strategy Isn't About Just Being Stronger forces you to approach strategy from several different angles such as strength, building, positioning, synergies, abilities, etc. Unmissable game that I wish was more successful.

This game is turn-based tactics, rpg, city-builder and strategy. Even in the very early access stage it was already a really good and incredibly addictive product full of content, with nice balance and without technical or gameplay issues. So it was already a gem even before release. And after a long journey of development it became even better in every aspect.
