The Last Show of Mr. Chardish
What The Last Show of Mr. Chardish lacks in particularly engaging gameplay, it makes up for with a beautiful art style, a variety of settings, and some interesting ideas about art and identity.
The Last Show of Mr. Chardish is a gem of a title. Although some may wish that the story encompassed more than just one character in a detailed manner, the tale is fascinating due to the subject matter and the flashback/reverse order in which the tale is told. The actual gameplay sections are engaging even though most of it is rather simple, and the inclusion of a few secrets rewards those who would rather spend some time exploring each play rather than rushing through them. It's short but feels perfect in length, and those who enjoy a good narrative would definitely enjoy this game.
I was really, really impressed by so much of this. As a piece of visual art, I haven’t seen anything so pretty in forever. As an idea, it’s fascinating. In its execution, it occasionally lets itself down. But I’m still so glad I spent time with this.

The more you dive into the metaphors and abstractions that are brought to bare, the more affecting this experience will be. Developers Punk Notion succeed in what they have built here, weaving a vivid tale more than worth the few hours of your time.

The Last Show of Mr. Chardish also features an elegant piano-prominent soundtrack that really seals the deal, a great showcase for the instrument which emphasizes the drama at the story’s center. The game is only about two or three hours long and best played in one sitting, thanks to its excellent pacing and lack of fluff. It’s highly and most easily recommended to those who enjoyed What Remains of Edith Finch, and though it’s brighter, calmer, and overall simpler in most respects, none of that makes it a lesser experience. The Last Show of Mr. Chardish is a lovely gem that will stir player emotions on until its heartfelt end.

An interesting and highly artistic walking simulator with beautiful images and thoughts on philosophical matters despite the lack of gaming mechanics.
