It's a faint, unaffecting experience that falls far short of delivering on a promising premise. [Issue#423, p.123]

The House of Hikmah nails that balance throughout a heartfelt adventure that leaves you a little hungry for more of its clever puzzling. Anytime I found myself pulled deep into the surreal joy of it all, I’d just as soon have to pause to look up a name and read a bit about the real stories of the Islamic Golden Age. It’s a special feat anytime a game can bring you somewhere beyond your imagination and return you to Earth with a desire to dig into history. There are wonders here that stretch beyond borders. Sometimes, a great game can help lead you to them.

A beautiful celebration of Islamic culture and history, as well as those who are no longer with us, The House of Hikmah teaches us not to let ourselves get lost in the shadows of grief, but to persevere, to lean on others, and maybe even learn to appreciate that weight in our hearts.

A bit rough around the edges but its a game with heart. Some ok platforming and not too difficult puzzles. Has a lovely aesthetic and a very unique art style, alongside a short and memorable story about grief. Could do with a bit more polish if I am being honest, some of the textures (especially at higher resolutions) are quite rough. Short, Sweet and doesn't overstay its welcome 5/10

Only worth 10 dollar.
- 3:30 - 4 hours long. -repetitive little expensive short fun arabic puzzles platformer game, annoying frame drops on fog sections, glitches, repetitive music but good, need more lore for darkness and useless collectables. -only good not bad voice acting, some creative puzzles and world building.

House of Hikmah is a mesmeric, stirring, and engaging puzzle game through the Islamic scholarship and history. With creative, fittingly difficult puzzles, superb dialogue and engagement with historical figures, beautiful, historically accurate designs, and excellent music, it’s a standout entry and a significant advancement for SWANA storytelling in gaming.

The House of Hikmah is a unique game, indeed. I felt for Maya and her plight, as well as marveled at the sight and representation of various real-world larger-than-life historical figures as they all helped each other out. Lunacy Studios did well to take these Scholars and expand their legends into levels that were satisfying to solve. What’s more, the story playing out as Maya aids the Scholars and shines a light on the doubt in her own heart is a warming tale. There’s some jank here that kicks up dust on the overall presentation, but it’s not anything that wholly takes away from the beautiful environments and crafty puzzles that fill The House of Hikmah.
