Although Broken Destiny is nothing more than a portable version of Soulcalibur IV (with Kratos along for the ride), the game is visually stunning and the size of the roster is admirable. What's most impressive about Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny is how well it preserves its console counterpart's formula while making very few sacrifices along the way.

With such amazing aesthetics one would expect some other technical areas to take a few hits, notably the load-times and the sound. Yet neither is diminished, with load-times being fairly short and easily endured, and with a dramatic score that is well done and fitting.

The SoulCalibur games are my favourite fighting games but this one is more online-orientated and so does not feature a story mode or any of the extras I'd come to expect from the series. It's got great graphics and plenty of characters to choose from however and is a great way to brush up on your swordsmanship while on the move.

Lack of single player content, but stills a great fighter complexing game, the cpu can bring very tough challenge, the customization is very cool, the graphics is wonderful.

Game have pretty nice roster and good gameplay mechanics also graphics is really nice. But it's getting boring very quickly because of lack of any single player activities other than quick fight and some kind of training mode.

So I just got a PSP 3000 yesterday. I used to have the 1000 when it came out years ago. I got platinum for Soulcalibur 6 on PS4. And I also have Soulcalibur 4 on PS3. So Soulcalibur Broken Destiny was the first PSP game I bought. I downloaded it from PSN on my PS3 and copied it over to my PSP. That's the only way you can download games for PSP now in 2020... But I have to say this game looks and plays great. It looks a lot like Soulcalibur 4. This is a must buy if you have a PSP. I just wish I could play Soulcalibur 6 on it. But I love that this version has Kratos from God of War. The character customization isn't great like in other Soulcalibur games. I wish it was better. But I am still impressed by this game on PSP.

From reading the reviews on this site, there must be some very lonely Soul Calibur players out there since there are a lot of low scores for a lack of online play. While it's true, a lack of infrastructure mode is a little disappointing, it barely detracts from the gem Namco have crafted with this version of the franchise. Visually, for a PSP game it's stunning. How the PSP is able to display so much pretty without catching fire is beyond me, and running so smoothly that you can't take your eyes off the fight for a second without being punished for it. It's like an apology for the mess that was Soul Calibur 4, and feels like the true sequel to Soul Calibur 2. The fighting mechanics are spot on, with the controls feeling just as crisp and sharp as the versions on console. Ad-Hoc multiplayer is there, as is character customisation, which has given me hours of fun as I destroy my friends using Mitsurugi dressed as Santa. Of course, this does require you to have friends in real life, and not just on the Playstation Network. A lack of arcade mode is a little odd, as this game is a mostly single player experience, but there are a good number of ghosts to fight against, and enough game modes to justify the no-doubt budget price it has probably become (in the second-hand shops) since the release of the Vita. Overall, a great PSP fighter that survives well on its own, but is best enjoyed with friends.

There’s no questioning Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny’s technical acumen; it’s a brilliant fighting engine that looks amazing, sounds great, and plays just about perfectly. It’s just a shame that there’s really no good way to play it.

This game is beast! It's still my prime reason of my PSP purchase as this keeps me busy for hours in a row!
Excellent quality. I wish more people could see the extraordinary value of this portable game. I'm absolutly addicted to this one!

This game looks great and plays great. However, there is a massive lack of single player. I did like the new character Dampierre adn Kratos was pretty good. Character customization was fun and the soundtrack is still awesome. Unfortunately, no arcade mode hurts the game
