Road to Empress was a surprise. Despite having no vested interest in the genre or period going into the game, I came out a massive fan. Is it enough to make me want to watch a bunch of palace dramas? No. I like the interactive nature of this game, and it does make me want to play me want to play more. If you’re after a dramatic, sometimes silly and overall great fun FMV experience, this should be at the top of your list.

Road to Empress presents a thrilling tale of political intrigue and infighting that keeps you hooked. Every character's acting is top-notch and you feel the emotions that they express. The game's story is slightly hampered by the fact that there is only one viable path despite having multiple choices during events. You shouldn't miss out on this story if you are a fan of FMV games.

If you love live-action melodrama, the seventh-century Imperial Chinese court intrigue of Road to Empress I is the game for you. Embrace the chaos of 110 endings and marvel at the production value, but don’t get too comfortable – the plot moves as fast as the poison.

首先選角實在太差，一堆小白臉整容怪毫無皇家風韻，還要任重要角色，跟他們感情戲看着就噁心。沒對比就沒傷害，剛玩完《江山北望》跟這個比，這部實在差得要死。人家那邊王爺也沒多帥，但是氣質性張力完爆這邊的歪瓜裂棗小白臉；女角們也遠比這邊有魅力。反觀這邊除了高陽公主還算有記憶點之外，其餘的面癱整容怪真的嚇死人，一點演技都沒有全靠配音，口形也對不上越看越出戲。劇情就是一大線性敍事，基本上毫無分支可言，這樣的故事還要分兩集真的醉了，明明下一部一早就拍完。故事另外的選項，大都不是驟死就是毫無形響，而且一堆結局就幾行字草草了事，甚至有些畫面直接AI生圖非常敷衍。
