Overall, Redemption Reapers has a sound combat system that isn’t strategically interesting in the early game and a story that never grabbed me. Things start to pick up by the mid-game, but many players won’t be willing to give the game time to redeem itself.

Redemption Reapers is a competent turn-based RPG with a rather awful story and flat characters. It’s not very pretty either, even though its soundtrack is excellent. If you really enjoy this genre you’ll find things to enjoy, but there are many better options among the competitors.

Despite strong foundational combat mechanics common to the genre, Redemption Reapers is weak in just about every other aspect. Those flaws in combination with its punishing difficulty make it hard to recommend, and I’d say that it’s likely to produce more groans than thrills for all but the most hardcore SRPG players.

This title is a pleasant surprise. Finally a game without any political nonsense that just focuses on entertaining the player. The graphics are pretty good as is the music. I love the turn based gameplay. Its simple yet fluid and you really need to think your moves through. The characters as well are much better than most newer games, the voice overs are well done and the character models look cool. The cutscenes look pretty slick and there seems to be a fair amount of them as well. I would have loved to be able to rename the characters but there are other ways to customize them in terms of skills, attributes and equipment etc. Definitely give this game a try if you can.

Very gratifying. The music is exceptional. Too bad you can't find the OST to listen to. The story is simple, but effective. I loved the ending. And the gameplay is not amazing for this genre, but it is good enough and addictive.

Redemption reapers is a tactical grid based RPG with a dark and mature look. Your party of 5 will battle the 'Mort' during the 20 to 25 hour long main campaign, these opponents look similar to the enemies in the Lord of the rings movies. Graphically it looks good during gameplay and cutscenes considering this is not a triple-A title. All characters are fully voiced, and the voice actors do a great job. The soundtrack is some of the best around. I really enjoyed a lot of the music during missions and the ones played in between chapters. Gameplay wise, this is a team based strategy RPG where careful placement is necessary. The early chapters may be difficult if you do use the proper approach to battles. As the game progresses, skirmishes are unlocked where you can level up your party further if needed. Money and resources are scarce, especially at the start of the game, but become manageable at later stages. If you are looking for a mature and dark story combined with a great combat system and a killer soundtrack, look no further.

Redemption Reapers is a strange, sometimes interesting, and sometimes frustrating tactical RPG. It has several intriguing components conceptually, both in its narrative and mechanics. But, in places, it falters in execution, leaving behind an uneven though interesting experience.

After the great success of Ender Lilies, we expected that Redemption Reapers could follow the same virtuous path of the previous game. The reality is that despite some good gameplay mechanics, everything seems like an early access game.

Despite a lack of imagination in its story and setting, Redemption Reapers is not without appeal. Strong production values, excellent music, and solid core combat mechanics promise an engaging experience. Its stabs at originality are both appreciated and a mixed success. Better balance, less oppressive mechanics, and shorter, streamlined missions could make Redemption Reapers an attractive choice for fans of tactical RPGs.

Ultimately, Redemption Reapers is a mixed bag that probably can’t redeem itself even after a few patches. For all its faults, diehard turn-based strategy fans will find something to enjoy playing this.

The game itself is competently executed, and if I try really hard to ignore the rip-off side of things, I would call it a decent game. But even then it has some pretty significant flaws. So while I did derive some enjoyment from it, due to its rough edges (among other things) it’s really hard to recommend to anyone unless you’re a die-hard tactical RPG fan who doesn’t want to own a Nintendo system and/or doesn’t like the Fire Emblem or even the Final Fantasy Tactics IPs. Which is unfortunate, because I really wanted to be able to; there are not a lot of good games in this genre that are available on PC that I can simply name offhand.

Redemption Reapers is a messy tactical RPG that could have been so much more. The presentation and character design are simply generic, with a narrative that will likely never grab your attention. There are some unique systems of character movement, but too many systems work against the player creating an unfun experience from beginning to end. Here’s to hoping updates based on player feedback make Redemption Reapers better in the future.
