Railroad Pioneer
The interface is nigh on impenetrable. The system of exploration is ludicrous (the whole map is blacked out at the start, so at first you don't even know where the mountains lie). The scenarios are uninspiring. The combat is pointless and passes practically unnoticed. [PC Zone]

Boomtown
The aspects it draws on do add a new element to the genre although they do slow down the action, making you work even harder to build your railway. The presentation makes the game feel half complete and the learning curve on the interface is unnecessary and sloppy on the tutorial.

At the heart of this pretty below average game lies potential that could have made a largely enjoyable business management title.

idk how to start this review properly because that game cant be named as a perfect game but it has unique pluses and minuses. game-play is simple you don't really need to check any videos or guides to start playing. interface is simple too the whole game is simple but i (i have finished this game for 3 times) find something new for myself about the game. the newest version has some weakness with bots(in steam) game might crash so you need to save it many times(there is no auto save) this game is not for everyone but i believe that you will enjoy it.

This game is quite interesting as a train simulation, however a decade old memory leak that has never been resolved will prevent you from playing. This has been well known from wXP and it is still true under w7/8. JoWood forums were full of complaints about the bug, Shame to the developer who left the game in this sorry state. You have been warned.

This game is simply addictive and fun to play - sure it's no A-title game and there are some basic challenges with the user interface but there is so much more to this game. I think a lot of the critic reviewers expected this to be an easy-to-learn game, but I think the very limitations you have in the game (e.g the map being completely engulfed in darkness from the beginning) only adds to the experience of being a railroad pioneer. This title has a bit of that classic XCOM feeling to it - it's tough sure but are you just going to give up and let someone else finish the first ever Transcontinental Railroad!?

People giving this a negative review haven't played the game. Game is neat, fun, simple and has a lot of replayabilty. It's only 4 dollars, give it a go or even watch some gameplay footage before just blindly listening to other reviews. This game is much better than the 50 people are giving it so I'm bumping it up with a 100.

I wasn't expecting much out of this game at first, but after playing this for a while I realised how fun this game is, and that I already played it for 2 hours, which I didn't expect. This is still one of my favorite games and if you are a fan of this type of game, I definitely recommend this to you.
