Nikoderiko: The Magical World Director's Cut is a good time for new fans, but those who have already played the original may debate on whether or not they want to return. With quality gameplay, an excellent soundtrack by David Wise, and pretty visuals, Nikoderiko is a platformer worth your time despite its lackluster narrative.

Nikoderiko: Director's Cut offers players a unique experience that combines a gripping narrative, engaging storyline, vibrant graphics, and addictive, intuitive gameplay. Moderate difficulty allows you to enjoy the platformer with children or a partner who has no experience with such games.

The game borrows heavily from DKC, Crash Bandicoot, and Rayman. But if you're tired of waiting for full-fledged sequels to these games, Nikoderiko might just satisfy that need. It's not hardcore, polished, or overly ambitious. But it's engaging enough, has a bright atmosphere, and enjoyable music. And also it's fairly cheap while on sales.

Fun old school platformer that wholesale lifts aesthetic and gameplay elements from classic games. Donkey Kong Country primarily - sidescrolling gameplay, enemy patterns, combat, barrels leading to bonus stages, riding animals, collecting letters to spell your name that look exactly the same; Crash Bandicoot - north/south 3D stages, similar mascot character; Rayman Origins/Legends - the main collectible is exactly like lums and floating mechanic after jumps. It rides the line between homage and ripoff, but if you're nostalgic for those games you should have fun with this. It plays and controls very smoothly, but is generally very easy (at least on the standard difficulty, haven't tried the other ones). The music, graphics and chill gameplay create a very pleasant vibe. If this remotely sounds up your alley I recommend it.

I had just finished playing the game with my child when the new expansion came out — awesome! This one was too tough for the kid, but I had a great time!

Nikoderiko DC was even better than I expected. The new levels felt fresh, and that new hard mode is seriously tough, basically feels like a new game. Had a ton of fun overall, recommended if you love challenge.

As a free update, Nikoderiko: The Magical World – Director’s Cut does an excellent job of both bringing back those who have already embarked on Niko and Luna’s adventure, and offering a better experience for newcomers. This type of platform game requires polished controls and physics to work well, and the touches given are very welcome. Although it is excessively similar to Donkey Kong Country and Crash Bandicoot in both level design and themes, it is a game that took the best of the gorilla games and created a new experience, even if it lacks a greater identity of its own.

Fantastic new Hard Mode in the latest update – exactly what this game was missing! It finally brings real tension and sweaty palms – Dark Souls can take a seat. Sure, I’d love to see even more new worlds added, but considering this is a free update, it's seriously impressive. While companies like Nintendo charge for simple patches on the Switch 2, here we get a whole new world and a boss – that’s pure fire.

Unplayble checkpoints! Gave up for that reason. Couldn't stand doing the same rooms like 5 or more times all over again for no reason.
