Same game EA has released for years. The team lineups aren’t even right for the teams at the beginning of the season even if you download the “latest rosters”. The gameplay is the same as it has been for years despite them throwing these fancy name at it, this year it’s “ice-q”but it’s the same game. Then there’s the bugs. You’d think a dev with this many years development on the game would have fixed most of the bugs, particularly the game breaking ones. A season and a half into my pro career and I can’t play games because the game freezes on the loading screen between periods. Only way I will play NHL 26, and the only reason I am playing 25, is that I got it for free. Won’t pay for EA to release the same game year after year with the same issues and bugs.

Kinda disappointed. the gameplay isn’t very fun. The new Ice-Q is a fluke. There’s no improvement in the gameplay from last year except for the scoreboard. Franchise mode is more fun for sure, tho. Be a Pro is fun as well. The game gets boring after a while. Hopefully they make the game better next year, otherwise im not buying it.

The worst NHL game by far. Why cant EA make any good AI. They need release the NHL license to another company that can make good AI. I hate them for buying Codemaster to so they can destroy that company like DICE. I bought it for 20$ and that is to much for this game dont buy this game for more than 10$ and dont give them money for buy the card packs because that i scam.

As usual, the game is mostly an insult to the game of hockey. The new Ice-Q AI made the computer players so stupid, they'd be kicked out of even a peewee team. A lot of the bugs and glitches from previous titles remain. Even after the nerfs, the high percentage play to score is a one-timer from the blueline, no matter who's taking the shot. Even if EA hasn't really been on top of their game in the past decade, I didn't see them stooping this low. Don't buy, even when it's on sale.

I like some of the new changes. But I would like to see some of the controls come back that were in the old game, like the basic hitting, pressing a to protect the puck.

So several patches have helped, and yet the game is still garbage. The over the top celebrations were replaced with really generic ones(maybe next year watch some hockey, see what they actually do). The passing, line changing, hitting, and glitches still need a ton of work(instead of gimmicks fix the nuts and bolts?). Ice-Q? This seems to mean cpu players are as smart as a block of ice. Teammates never look for a pass( often control isn't switched so you just have to watch as they turn away from the incoming pass) or the puck(I've seen the puck glide between a teammates stick and skates, and he made no effort to possess the puck) Are the teammates dumbed down to hide the opponent's limitations? The opponent cpu still relies on the same old cheap tricks: hot goalie, inhuman hands(somehow they can always get a stick on the puck and almost never get called for tripping or slashing), bad refs (and it's worse cause my teammates are all standing on the perimeter eating paste). Goalie pass is unpredictable for wrong reasons, once you hit the button(sometimes even if you don't) you don't know if, when, or in what direction it will go. I also loved the critic review, that said it's good enough for hockey fans. What does that guy know? Apparently not that talking down to the audience is bad. Overall, this was once a super fun game. That's why I give it a shot every few years, but it's keeps getting worse. Sell the rights to 2K already!

Worst NHL game to date. I would give it a 1/10 because it’s still free to create your player in CHEL, but the gameplay is so bad I cannot let myself give it even 1.

I prefer to play NHL games mostly online and against my friends locally. NHL 25 is the worst iteration of the game ever and you definitely should not buy it. The fatigue system spoils the game 100%, and the worst part is AI "coach" puts tired players on the ice for no rational reason and this "feature" you can not fix with sliders. For people who like fair, enjoyable highly competitive games, this isn't for you. In comparison to previous NHL games the 2025 version brings only frustration and new bugs and poorly designed features to the table.

What a pile of ****!!!! EA has destroyed the game. Its impossible to even win a faceoff against the CPU!!! Why did U ruin the game??? Why did u get rid of traditional controls? Hybrid is soo frustrating. I deleted the game after 2 hours and are going back to NHL 22 again. Wasted $40 on nothing!!!!! DONT BUY THIS ****!!!!!

Loved it. Graphics are beautiful. LT and on timers are gsme changers. Guys set up in face up circles, just like OV. Goalies, passing, AI , everything is better. I'd give it a 10, if we could make custom goalie masks. Go buy it don't listen to the negative. Adding PWHL and 4 Nations Cup. Games incredible.

Can't believe the low reviews. If you take the time to make slider adjustments, this is the best NHL game in the series. Plays really well for me in BeAGM. I do not play online so I want add feedback about that, though I would venture to guess most of the negative feedback comes from online gamers. BeAGM is a bit deeper this year, with contracts, NTC's, in season contract negotiations. Just a lot of what many of us on a dedicated sports video game website have been calling for. And now with the addition of real NHL coaches, the games are much better playing the style and tendencies of those coaches, makes the game more challenging and enjoyable as every coach plays a style of hockey different, which makes the game feel really organic for people wanting to play a sim, versus an arcade, run and gun style play. I have a few wishlist items, which is the only reason I don't give it a ten, but those can be found on the Operation: Sports forums. All in all, this game plays great compared to the most recent years and is much deeper than it has been for the offline player. If you are strictly a CHEL or HUT player, then I can see your frustrations, I mean what is fun trying to stop a ballerina on ice every trip doing trip sow cows rights before the lacrosse move being used at nauseum. You aren't going to change that because online gamers online care about their stats and winning, so hate the player, not the game...

This is the exact same game as NHL 24, only worse in possibly every metric that matters. Even at Black Friday price, it feels like a ripoff. So totally on-par with expectations for EA.

Again the same mess as every year. Unreal icetilt, unreal connection predetermined match winner, unless you're a master of glitches, you're playing pathetic. Nothing in that game makes sense, the passes are extremely messed up, do you pass to a player who is a meter away from you? Impossible, EA thinks that such a pass goes to the other side and with the force of a missile. The goalkeeper catches such things that the commentator talks about the save of the millennium 5 times per game, but 10 goals is so embarrassing that it breaks your heart. The menu is so slow that when you solve sets and similar things, you spend more time in the menu than in the game, but it doesn't matter, you still have lags there. Random win generator. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

Good gameplay and looks good visually but the constant crashing over and over in BAP and creating modes are a real joke. It's a copy and paste of the last 5 games and still they can't get it right. You play one game you're good the other game it's gonna crash at the end of the 3rd period or when socring a hat-trick. Save yourself some money until they fix their game cause right now its barely playable if you want to play Be a Pro or GM modes

Horrible game , EA didnt even try on this one sadly They could have just fixed the few bad things from nhl24 but instead they changed so much so its garbage instead The xp path is a joke and if you want a good team in HUT its a full time job timewise thats needed And the rewards........well there are none Its really a joke They want you to spend money if you want a good team Ive been playing nhl games since 1994 and im really sad to say that this will be my last cuz of the **** gameplay and 1 million bugs Sometimes i even wounder if the developers of the game even knows hockey ? DONT BUY THIS **** GAME if its not really cheap cuz it aint worth it

Again we see another nhl garbage ai is so f… broke i dont know is this gyus working at ea offices or what? Whenyou gonna make a great game again? Im so tired of this ea nhl Saga.. ai is broken.Goaltending is broken. Replays are broken. Menu laggy AF. I had to turn ea jukebox offmy ears cant hear that never ever again. Eashl searching is broken? Are you gyus even trying anymore? And what about eashl club always the same logos arenas the fans etc…Dont make nhl26 please give a 2k chance this is my wish for the next year. Ea made it dirty they opened all perks for the player in the eashl mode so people dont have to grind lvl and perks so they have more time to play hut where ea make so much profit of. Sorry for my bad English i am from nhl fan/player since 99.

The gameplay is okay. The best in years and could be even better with tuners. The menus and loading screen times are slower than any game I've played on the PS5 and maybe the PS4. Many of the glitches and errors from previous seasons are still present. (not being able to select a loadout in WOC etc.)

What is wrong with people that play this game? constantly moaning and giving it 0. How in the world is this game a zero? Incredible graphics, great gameplay and a must for hockey fans. also Metacritic you still haven't added the IMPULSE GAMER review for this game? this site use to be good. they don't even add half the critic reviews anymore. Disappointing.

It's a total false advertised game mechanics are broken ice-Q is non existent what it even is. Ai is atrocious. Own goals by your goalie are out of this world which makes you not want to play passing is horrible NHL player's don't take 30 seconds to get up from hits lol I wish I could post video as I have so much to exploit this game and it's advertising to it's fan base and more.

I rarely make a review **** but what a disappointment, i make the impulsive buy mostly for franchise addition, first game exclusive on next generation, addition on the gameplay. the new menu etc... I love the franchise addition , the problem is with the gameplay. Smooth, yes ! maybe too smooth, don't feel the impact of a big check anymore, the replay of a big check are atrocious. the goaler for me are a big part of the game and they make big save but on the other side look so stupid another shot, the pass are still not accurate and make pass to another player when you have one scream for a pass. all player are slim , WHY ??? i watch recently a video of nhl 14 and surprisingly the graphic look pretty much the same , I really don't see graphic amelioration ,on the opposite , the color are so bad. the game is buggy on many level. Sadly i can't recommend that game at more then 20$

A.I. defense is still garbage. They skate into each other, don't cover the right man, leave attackers wide open, and hang your goalie out to dry. BAP is, once again, completely unchanged and using the same recycled garbage from NHL 21. While there have been some improvements (most notably to goalie controls, for me), the overall experience of frustration and disappointment will be very familiar to fans of this franchise.

I am a casual nhl player, having bought nhl20 last time and only playing it offline. As someone who is only interested in the gameplay of nhl, i have to say im really pleased. The game looks and runs beautyfully, gameplay is fun and butter smoothand the Physics are better than ever. If you are like me and you play only casually every 4-5years and only care abkut gameplay, this is the game toget in my oppinion. The only complaint i have is that there is no tutorial mode in the game, which is like...really? Anyways, this is the only nhl game i will be buying in the next 5 years or so because it has everything I want from an nhl game except a fking tutorial... Wont be needing another ine all my life possibly. Cant say anything about online modes or HUT mode, u just dont care about them.

NHL 25 fails to deliver any notable changes; the franchise is clearly taking a direction to appease the new generation of gamers rather than original fans of the series.

They left out classic NHL 94 controls again, just like with NHL24. Don't waste your money.

Best in the history of the franchise, so much depth has been added to Franchise mode with players finally having insight into a players wants and being able to negotiate team friendly deals. Grudge Match adds a great variety to the matches played in the regular season and helps show off the shiny new visuals

The gameplay is an improvement IF the connection is good. It’s crazy how the network monitor tells me the connection is green and stable yet everything is delayed and my opponent gets a step ahead of me on everything then the next game it’s the same connection quality yet I’m the one who gets the advantage. The leaderboards in HUT are meaningless. I am 22-13 yet I am below people what are 1-1, 3-4, 2-1, etc. so what’s the point of grinding? Speaking of grinding. The rewards are non existent. What’s the incentive? Oh but the devs priority was to add brown female refs and low IQ female commentary. Finally, the sync glitch LOL the game keeps you in a cutscene while the face off is being taken so that’s also great… These devs are a joke. As per.
